New York Attorney General Letitia James reportedly pleaded not guilty Friday in a Virginia court to two charges of federal bank fraud. The judge set a trial date of Jan. 26, 2026. "Not guilty judge to both counts," James reportedly said in the hearing at the federal Eastern District of Virginia court.
The Justice Department indicted James earlier this month, alleging that she misrepresented how she would use a house she bought in 2020 in Norfolk, southeast Virginia, so she could obtain a lower interest rate on her mortgage, CBS News reported.

On Thursday’s broadcast of C-SPAN’s “Washington Journal,” Rep. Brad Schneider (D-IL) responded to questions on whether migrants who were allowed into the country under the Biden administration would qualify for taxpayer-funded health care by saying, “It depends on the circumstance.” And “those people who have applied for asylum and are going through the process are here legally.”
Host Mimi Geerges asked, “Congressman, as you know, Republicans are accusing Democrats of trying to give government health care, Medicaid to illegal immigrants. Democrats are denying that that’s the case. However, there’s a large number of people that were paroled into the country under the Biden administration. Are they considered illegal

Like two ships passing in the night, proponents and opponents of H1-B visas can’t see the forest through the trees. The void of American workers for qualified H‑1B positions was really caused by the ever-increasing scale and relaxed requirements of F‑1 student visas, and universities depending on international enrollment to balance budgets. Admissions at leading public institutions like Georgia Tech have become as competitive as elite private universities, yet a material share of limited undergraduate seats increasingly goes to non‑U.S. students who can pay full tuition and additional fees.
The federal government issued approximately 401,000 new F‑1 visas in FY 2024, and there are about 1.1 million international students currently

The upcoming elections in Virginia have been more than a little wild to watch. Because they're off-year elections, there's not a whole lot else going on, so there is always a significant amount of attention on what's happening in the Old Dominion State. I kind of follow it anyway since I spent most of my Navy career there, and Cam lives there, so you know he's paying attention, but a lot of others are watching too. That's likely because many see Virginia as a bellwether for the midterm elections. The fact that the Democrats' attorney general candidate has turned out to be a complete and total trainwreck has certainly made

Two national public employee unions sued the Trump administration over its restrictions preventing illegal immigrants from obtaining commercial drivers licenses. The American Federation of Teachers and the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees filed a petition for review against the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration. The employee unions challenged a rule implemented by Department of Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy restricting foreign individuals from receiving commercial drivers licenses. Commercial drivers licenses are used for operating large vehicles such as tractor-trailers and buses. Nineteen states and the District of Columbia allow unauthorized immigrants to receive commercial drivers licenses.

Mavis Jones, the wife of Virginia attorney general candidate Jay Jones (D.), donated to a bail fund that frees murderers, rapists, and other violent criminals from jail, and urged her followers to do the same.
"I just donated to the Minnesota freedom fund," Mavis Jones posted to X in May 2020, as Black Lives Matter rioters wreaked havoc in Minneapolis in the days following George Floyd’s death, and just months before marrying Jay Jones. She also linked to the group's donation page before adding, "please consider doing the same or donating to any of the *legitimate* organizations supporting protesters."

Senate Judiciary Chairman Chuck Grassley on Thursday released documents revealing that Biden’s Attorney General Merrick Garland, former FBI Director Chris Wray and corrupt DOJ official Lisa Monaco personally approved opening the “Arctic Frost” investigation into President Trump.
Arctic Frost led to Jack Smith’s Trump 2020 alternate electors case.
Republican Senators Chuck Grassley and Ron Johnson earlier this year released new records detailing the FBI and DOJ’s sweeping investigation that formed the basis of Jack Smith’s DC case against President Trump.
Grassley and Johnson previously blew the lid off another sham investigation orchestrated by Biden’s

Former MSNBC host Mehdi Hasan lashed out online after Americans pushed back against his defense of the Islamic call to prayer being played in U.S. neighborhoods.
The Islamic call to prayer, or adhan, is broadcast five times daily and serves as a prominent auditory reminder of faith across Muslim communities. Hasan went on an extended rant on X, blasting what he called right-wing intolerance and claiming Muslim Americans face growing hostility from conservatives. “I think that if you can play church bells you can pray the [Islamic] call to prayer. We are as American as anyone else

Many Americans already believe the H-1B visa program was built to replace them at work. Now we’re finding out it is helping foreign workers buy homes too, with our tax dollars. In Oregon, there’s a taxpayer-funded initiative called the Down Payment Assistance Program, which hands out as much as $60,000 or 20 percent of a home’s sale price to qualifying buyers. It was pitched as “equity in housing,” but the fine print reveals that even foreign nationals on temporary work visas can tap into it. Yes, you read that right. People just passing through on a work visa can get a US taxpayer handout to buy up one

Chinese LSAT preparation companies have violated the security of remotely administered exams for years, allowing Chinese nationals to access stolen questions and take the place of qualified Americans, the CEO of a U.S. test preparation company told the Washington Free Beacon.
The CEO, Dave Killoran of PowerScore, revealed that a Chinese whistleblower, frustrated with how easy cheating on the LSAT appeared to be, contacted him in May of this year with what he claimed were stolen questions. "After a review of those questions, I quickly determined they were actual LSAT questions," Killoran said.
PowerScore and the Law School Admission Council (LSAC)—the body responsible for creating and administering the LSAT—are the only

Democratic Rep. Jasmine Crockett of Texas said Wednesday she is “strongly considering” running for the U.S. Senate, and she claimed her decision could serve as “karma” against Republicans.
Crockett made the comments during an appearance on SiriusXM’s “The Lurie Daniel Favors Show,” Axios reported.
Her remarks came as she railed against GOP-led redistricting in Texas while ignoring the fact that Democrats have long gerrymandered districts in their own states. And then the other option is every other day there’s a poll that comes out that makes it clear that I can win the primary for the U.S. Senate race in Texas,” Crockett said. “And I am looking.

Amazon is planning to replace more than half a million jobs in the US with robots, according to a new report.
Warehouse automation will enable the e-commerce giant to avoid hiring over 600,000 people in the coming years, executives told Amazon’s board in 2024, according to the New York Times.
That’s even though the company reportedly expects to sell twice as many products by 2033. The shift from human to robot is expected to unfold over the coming years, according to Tuesday’s article. Amazon plans to avoid hiring over 160,000 US workers by 2027 – saving the company about 30 cents on each item it ships
