House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) have come out against a Republican stopgap spending bill as Congress edges towards a shutdown.
House Republican leaders on Tuesday released the text for a stopgap funding bill that would set aside tens of millions of dollars for security assistance for lawmakers and federal officials amid heightened concerns about political violence after the assassination of Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk.
The stopgap funding bill, otherwise known as a continuing resolution (CR), would seek to avert a government shutdown on October 1 and keep the government open through November 21.

Jeffries and Schumer "coming out" against the spending bill? Like anyone on the planet expected them to vote for a Republican bill. The Senate knew this was coming before their 5 week August recess, so should have made some plan to deal with it. If the Democrats shut it down, I demand that no one be paid to sit at home, and the money go to reduce the deficit.

Re #3, President Trump should go a step further and announce that no Federal employee who does not work during the shutdown will be paid, and back it up by vetoing any post-shutdown bill Congress passes to pay them. Past shutdowns have not only been cost free for Democrats but also afforded de facto paid vacations to one of their major constituencies.

I do not “security” for our congress critters. “The people”. Need to be secure, first.
And, a shutdown is a logical. On sequence of malfunctioning.

I told the man who drives the local trash truck:
"Your job is not glamorous, but it's important.
All those long-winded Politicians in DeeCee can take a month off and no-one notices,
but if YOU take a week off, everyone is hurting."

Lucy's arms must be tired from yanking the football away from Charlie's foot. Trump can and should do an EO on the budget. That would fix them. Jeffries and Schumer are sick jokes.

Schumer: "The Republicans are threatening to shut down the government. This is a threat to democracy!"
Schumer: "If the Republicans do not give us what we want, we will shut down the government!"
Chuck, no one takes you seriously any more. Go away.

Different year, same budget drama. One would think that having a year to come up with a budget and knowing that the deadline is September 30 every year, Congress might be able to do their job on time just once!
