A federal judge on Tuesday granted a temporary restraining order blocking President Donald Trump’s firing of Federal Reserve governor Lisa Cook for now.
The ruling means Cook will remain on the board of the central bank until her case is heard at length. She is allowed to continue carrying out her work during that time.
In granting the order, U.S. District Judge Jia Cobb said that "the Court will enter an injunction directing [Fed Chair Jerome] Powell and the Board of Governors to allow Cook to continue to operate as a member of the Board for the pendency of this litigation."
President Donald Trump told attendees of the Religious Liberty Commissionmeeting on Monday that new guidance would be released regarding prayer in public schools. "I'm pleased to announce this morning that the Department of Education (DOE) will soon issue new guidance protecting the right to prayer in our public schools," Trump said at the meeting at the Museum of the Bible in Washington, D.C.
The exact timing of the new guidance announcement was not immediately clear.

The U.S. Supreme Court agreed on Tuesday to decide the legality of Donald Trump's sweeping global tariffs, setting up a major test of one of the Republican president's boldest assertions of executive power that has been central to his economic and trade agenda.
The justices took up the Justice Department's appeal of a lower court's ruling that Trump overstepped his authority in imposing most of his tariffs under a federal law meant for emergencies. The court swiftly acted after the administration last week asked it to review the case, which implicates trillions of dollars in customs duties over the next decade.
The Supreme Court on Tuesday temporarily allowed the Trump administration to hold on to billions in foreign aid funds that it wants to cancel, setting up a high-stakes battle over the president’s power to unilaterally cancel funds mandated by Congress.
