Following President Pen-And-Phone and President Autopen, President Donald Trump is also making use of the White House quill. But his directives have tended to be more practical than political. For instance, last week he issued an executive order banning employee collective bargaining at a number of federal agencies. The American people should be grateful that he’s willing to take on the bureaucracy that has nullified voters’ preferences and become an unaccountable political force – the real power in the country. To support our point, we look back at the Obama administration’s IRS targeting of Tea Party

Trump is the only person to reverse the decades of progression to socialism. Trump has exposed that he, elected by the people, has very little power to hire or fire anybody. Without power over personnel, no executive can be successful. It does not matter who the public elects, the personnel doesn't change, and the policies don't change. I don't know how it happened that union's can use employer time for union business.

Issues and Insights articles are generally incisive but on a very few issues like tariffs and unions they seem stuck in the pre-Trump era. President Trump hasn't hesitated to antagonize unions where necessary but he is not reflexively anti-union and has eagerly cooperated with unions like the UAW and Steelworkers to promote national interests. Regarding federal unions he has addressed abuses but also worked closely with the National Border Patrol Council (NBPC) union to secure the border. In addition to helping achieve the President's immigration goals, the NBPC's record of defending Border Patrol officers against four years of abuse by Biden and Mayorkas demonstrates that union representation can be constructive and necessary. How would those officers have fared had President Trump abolished Federal employee unions during his first term?

At least ban unions whose federal employees work in critical jobs. Many years ago I had a good friend who was an air traffic controller and a member of PATCO, the ATC union. He told me that were going to go on strike and I said, "Isn't that illegal for you guys to strike"? He said, "Yeah, but they have to have us. Nothing the government can do about it." The POTUS at the time had the initials RR. He fired them all except the ones who kept working. My friend was also one of those fired who went out on strike and got canned. I will never forget the TV news reporter who shouted at Reagan as he left the helicopter on the WH lawn, "Mr. President, how are the negotiations going with the strikers union"?. He replied that there were no negotiations and the strike didn't matter anymore. He pulled military ATCs to handle the load until new hires could take over. I forget the union president's name but he made one of the worst organized labor mistake of the century. My friend ended up tending bar somewhere to make ends meet.

With ongoing efforts to halt the Russia-Ukraine war, interest-rate fights with the Fed, and continued talks over tariffs, among other things, President Donald Trump is one of the busiest chief executives ever. But how’s he doing? Republicans like his leadership, but Democrats don’t, and independents are lukewarm, the latest I&I/TIPP Poll shows. Each month, I&I/TIPP asks the following question about Trump’s leadership: “Overall, is your opinion of Donald Trump generally favorable, generally unfavorable, or are you not familiar enough to say one way or the other?” In September’s national online I&I/TIPP Poll,

In one of his endless attempts to grab a headline, California Gov. Gavin Newsom last week taunted President Donald Trump, saying that if he’s serious about fighting crime, he should be sending the National Guard to red states such as Louisiana, which has a murder rate far higher than California. Newsom’s attempt to troll the president failed on Sunday, when Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem took the attention-starved governor up on his offer. “Absolutely,” she said on “Face the Nation,” when asked if the Trump administration would send National Guard troops into cities or states run by Republicans. “Every single city

Our contributor Bob Maistros noticed something yesterday that is worth repeating again and again. In the debate over tariffs, Maistros observed, Trump has gotten Democrats to make “an earthshaking, gobsmacking concession to common sense that cries out to be capitalized on.” To wit: that corporate taxes aren’t paid by corporations – they are ultimately passed down to employees and customers in the form of lower wages and higher prices. No matter what you think about Trump’s tariffs, winning this concession from Democrats must be celebrated.

During the Oct. 28, 1980, presidential debate, Ronald Reagan closed by asking Americans if they were better off than they were four years earlier when Jimmy Carter was elected. If we asked that question today and changed the time element to a year, it would be obvious: Yes, we are better off. A little more than a year ago, Joe Biden suspended his reelection campaign and endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris to be his successor in the race against Donald Trump. Not that Harris would have been an improvement over Biden, but at least the country was rid of an addled career bumbler whose policies were a dead weight on the

In July, inflation came in lower than expected, which “defied fears of further price increases as a result of President Donald Trump’s tariffs.” That’s been happening a lot lately. So, what’s a Trump–hating news media to do? Admit their fear-mongering was wrong? Or, invent a new term to make even good news sound ominous? Over the weekend, CNN Business ran a story headlined: “‘Sneakflation’: How Trump’s tariffs are gradually raising costs for American consumers.” The article admits that “inflation has remained relatively tame” this year. “To this point, consumers have been mostly shielded from starkly higher prices.”

There are two things you can be sure of when it comes to Gavin Newsom. One is that he craves power. Two, he hates his fellow Californians. OK, the second one might be a stretch. But considering what he’s done to the people of his home state, that’s a fairly reasonable conclusion to draw. Newsom has been making headlines these days by “getting tough” with President Donald Trump in ways childish (X with posts written in all caps) and politically poisonous (promising to redraw district boundaries to kill off four or five of the state’s nine Republican seats). With that latter move, Newsom once again shows his disdain for Californians,

Inflation may have moderated, and the economy is showing signs of healthy growth, but the public remains deeply concerned about both, according to the latest I&I/TIPP poll. The poll found that fully 80% of those surveyed by I&I/TIPP say they are either “very” (45%) or “somewhat” (35%) concerned about inflation. Just 17% say they are not concerned. That’s despite the fact that inflation has averaged just 2.6% this year – which is significantly lower than any year under the Biden administration – and came in lower than expected in July. And while the economy grew a healthy 3% in the second quarter –

It’s a serious charge that, like the Russia hoax, makes Watergate look like a sandbox squabble. Here’s what we’ve learned: Acccording to Fox Business, major bank executives said “they were under pressure by the Obama and Biden administrations to deny services to individuals and businesses for political reasons.”

Trump’s Alligator Alcatraz will not have to shut down after a circuit court overturned a woke judge’s order. In August, Obama-appointed U.S. District Judge Kathleen Williams ruled that the alleged “environmental harms” of the famous Florida illegal alien detention facility outweighed the facility’s necessity. But that decision was overruled Thursday as the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals blocked her order to close the illegal alien detention facility in Florida and halt all construction there. The federal appeals court also blocked Williams from proceeding with the case until Florida’s appeal is complete. This is a big win not only for the Trump administration and the state government in Florida,

“Doctors are being paid to vaccinate, not to evaluate,” Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. said in a recent video. “They’re pressured to follow the money, not the science.” Doctors administer dozens of vaccines to many children in the United States. Adults are also advised to receive multiple shots. Here’s what to know about vaccines and payments. What Does the Literature Say? A review of studies confirms that some doctors profit from vaccinating. In a 2020 paper, researchers found when analyzing three years’ worth of vaccination claims for five Colorado clinics that reimbursements averaged 125 percent of costs, making administering vaccines “financially favorable across the practices.”

President Trump’s efforts to bring down crime have been successful in Washington, D.C. The rate of murder and other violent crimes is down substantially, and the rate of car-jackings is down dramatically. Even the Democrat mayor of the city admitted that the crime rate has dropped. Oddly, however, she mumbles in the next breath that the program is “not working,” apparently to mollify national stage Democrats to whom she answers. Such as Democrat Senate Minority Leader Charles Schumer. He was asked at the outset whether the initial 30-day period for the effort could be extended.

What happens? Crime plummets to levels not seen in years. If you’re a Democrat, however, you don’t like this for several reasons: 1) It makes President Trump look good, which you can’t stomach even if lives are at stake, and 2) you don’t actually care about crime and don’t mind seeing it continue in our nation’s cities. It does not matter if individuals become naturalized citizens of the United States, so long as they retain the citizenship from wherever they came, they should not be allowed to serve in the American government. Either they renounce their foreign citizenship, or stop serving in our government. And, it is more preferable that they self-deport if they feel strongly about keeping the other citizenship. As founder John Jay expressed in 1787, “Permit me to hint, whether it would not be wise and seasonable to provide a strong check to the admission of Foreigners into the administration of our national Government.”

Starting Aug. 19, the day after the logo was revealed, transactions slowed at Cracker Barrel restaurants, according to debit and credit card data from Bloomberg Second Measure, a data analytics provider. That sales decline gained steam through Aug. 26 as diners slammed the new logo – a modern, sleek reimagining that erased an illustration of beloved folksy farmer Uncle Herschel. Other full-service restaurants showed mixed results during the same period, in a sign that Cracker Barrel’s sudden downturn was due to brand damage, according to Bloomberg.
