The biggest, boldest lie of every welfare state is that the goods and services it is providing to its citizens are "free." Those of us with brain cells and an aversion to lying know that this is not only untrue, but also impossible. Politicians are fond of throwing taxpayer dollars around like drunk Kennedy cousins on summer break in Monte Carlo in order to make voters love them. Despite being full-throated advocates for "sustainability" when it comes to almost anything else, socialist welfare state types are committed to an economic system that simply cannot go on forever. In the immortal words of the late, great Margaret Thatcher:

Wise people know the outcome of that lie before it all comes crashing down but without free stuff, the gimmedats would not sustain the political party that lives by that lie. Karl Marx was either a delusional idiot or he assumed that he would be a member of the ruling class. Bernie Sanders has held that belief all through his own communist life and now Zohran Mamdani has picked up the baton.

The world should know by past historical happenings that it could be very dangerous after the German economy crashes!

We can't get rid of social security, welfare, WIC, medicaid, medicare, low income housing, and a whole host of other subsidies either.

"The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other peoples' money."

So, what to do? Why, raise taxes of course, further ruining the German economy which is currently in shambles.

I can’t find any sympathy for the Germans. They brought this on themselves, when they should have known better.

The Germans may have joined the socialized medicine party, but the Brits got it started just after WWII. And when I visited the UK on business in the early 90s, I contracted something while there. Felt like a mild flu, and as I would be there for less than a week I planned on just putting up with it, but I was encouraged by all of my British colleagues to see the on-site NHS doctor (at the multinational company I worked for at the time). Best of all -- I was told by all of them -- "It's FREE!" My reply was droll and matter of fact: "It's not free... somebody is paying for it..." Turns out my employer paid for the doctor's visit, because the NHS billed the company for my visit. (Had I been a British citizen, there would have been "no charge" because British taxpayers were already paying through the nose anyway.) And all the doctor did was to prescribe arithromycin, which I had to pay for myself with a trip to the "chemist" in a nearby town.

Germany's welfare state "Can no longer be financed with what [it] produces in the economy." Why? Because Germany crucified that economy on a cross of green energy fantasies while overwhelming its welfare state with unchecked irregular immigration.

Why yes, #10, it did. All of that cheap labor they imported from Africa and the Middle East to build their Mercedes, BMWs and Volkswagens because their own citizens demanded excessive pay for a 30-hour work week didn't work out. In a heavy blow to their egos, Japan now makes cars that are much better.

They are also over run by Muslim freeloaders who are invading their country. I was at Munich Airport last year and thought I had gotten on the wrong plane and landed in Yemen. They were everywhere. Men with their four or five wives all in Burkas.
