A federal district court in Philadelphia ruled against the Little Sisters of the Poor and the Trump administration on Wednesday, blocking exemptions that prevent religious groups from being required to cover birth control costs in their health plans. Despite previous failed attempts to force the sisters to conform, the states of Pennsylvania and New Jersey sued the Trump administration — joined by intervenors Little Sisters of the Poor — over a religious exception to the Affordable Care Act’s (ACA) contraception mandate established during the first Trump admin.

That's ugly, putting Pennsylvania and New Jersey on the same side in anything. We share a border but that's it. Shapiro can't go away fast enough.

You're OK with Sharia law and the Religion that throws gay people off buildings, but won't let Catholic Nuns follow their Religion? You need to reread the Constitution; you have it all wrong.

If the nuns can do this, then it sets a precedent for all other insurers to pick and choose what they will cover. Simple as that.

Appeal it up the chain. Better yet, repeal Obama-care. You CANNOT force activities that abrogate long established practice. Leave Littlew Sisters of the Poor, alone!! The problem in these North-Eastern States is the Democrat Party is entrenched due to long standing traditions and mechanisms of fraud. The Dems are literally about 1/3 of the population, but they ALWAYS have just enough votes to win.

In 2020, the Supreme Court of the United States ruled in favor of the Little Sisters of the Poor withdrawing from the contraception part of ObamaCare. Where does the jurisdiction come from? Does SCOTUS need to respond again? I remember when Charles Krauthammer said, "They're not even the Big Sisters of the Poor."

Why should ANY organization be required to pay for birth control pills when these are now available over the counter? Someone else should have to pay for your sexual behaviors?

The judge... Wendy Beetlestone (born 1961) is the chief United States district judge of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania. Biography Beetlestone was born in Ibadan, Nigeria to a British father, John Beetlestone, who was a chemistry professor at the University of Ibadan, and an American mother, Clare Watson. She attended the International School Ibadan and later Rishworth School in Yorkshire. In 1984, Beetlestone graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree, cum laude, from the University of Liverpool. In 1993, she earned a Juris Doctor from the University of Pennsylvania Law School. On June 16, 2014, President Barack Obama nominated Beetlestone to serve as a United States district judge of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania. On December 15, 2017, Beetlestone issued a nationwide injunction prohibiting the enforcement of regulations that allowed employers to refuse to cover contraception in their employees' insurance plans if they have either religious objections to birth control or “sincerely held moral convictions” against it. “It is difficult,” Judge Beetlestone wrote, “to comprehend a rule that does more to undermine the contraceptive mandate or that intrudes more into the lives of women.” Judge Beetlestone issued a second nationwide injunction after President Trump issued revised rules. On July 8, 2020, these decisions were overturned by the Supreme Court of the United States.

President Trump claimed Sunday that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky could bring the nation’s war with Russia to a halt “almost immediately,” if he’s willing to make two major concessions. Trump called for Ukraine to drop its bid to join the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation (NATO), a demand long held by Russia, and also said there would be “no getting back” Crimea – signaling to the nation to accept Russia’s illegal 2014 annexation of the region during the Obama administration. “President Zelenskyy of Ukraine can end the war with Russia almost immediately, if he wants to, or he can continue to fight. Bolivia’s presidential election will go to a runoff for the first time, with two rightwing candidates competing for the presidency – marking the end of nearly 20 years of dominance by the leftist Movimiento al Socialismo (Mas). The candidate with the most votes, however, turned out to be a surprise: centre-right senator Rodrigo Paz Pereira, 57, who had started the campaign with just 3% support in opinion polls. In second came Jorge “Tuto” Quiroga, 65, a rightwing former president who briefly led the country in 2001 after the resignation of ex-dictator Hugo Banzer. It’s an energizing time for democratic socialists across the country, and not only because New York state assembly member Zohran Mamdani’s recent win in the New York City mayoral primary moves the United States’ most populous city closer than it ever has been to having a member as mayor. For supporters of the leftwing, worker-led political ideology, last weekend’s annual democratic socialists of America national convention in Chicago, which welcomed tens of thousands of politically minded individuals from across the country to the unionized McCormick Place convention center, was further recognition of the growing influence of the DSA, the country’s largest socialist organization, founded in 1982.

California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) is leaning into the redistricting fight as he looks to build his national profile ahead of a potential 2028 bid, but the move comes with political risks. Newsom formally declared his plans at a rally Thursday to call a special election for November that would allow state lawmakers to redraw California’s congressional map in response to President Trump urging red states to do the same. The plan comes as Newsom positions himself as the most vocal Trump critic on the national stage — and amid speculation he’s planning to mount a White House bid in the coming years.

She noted that Trump is now asking for a broader peace deal after the meeting.

President Trump has proven once again why he’s the most effective advocate for American workers in modern American politics. He fully understands the threat China poses, and his administration is doing exactly what needs to be done to ensure American competitiveness. While strengthening our manufacturing, he’s also tackling trade diplomacy with China. Because President Trump knows we need both: to grow our ability to compete with China by manufacturing right here in the U.S. and also to pursue trade diplomacy that actually helps American businesses and consumers. The early signals of this effort are positive. For example, Ford’s $5-billion investment in car manufacturing, announced this week,

Chances are that she did that because she thought Trump can't do it. But still, she put herself on the hook for that, and may end up having to pay off. President Trump was amused that she said it at all, joking that he might have to start liking her again.

A study recently published by the National Academy of Sciences found that when asked to rank actions, such as swapping a car that uses gasoline for an electric one, carpooling or reducing food waste, participants weren’t very accurate when assessing how much those actions contributed to climate change, which is caused mostly by the release of greenhouse gases that happen when fuels like gasoline, oil and coal are burned. “People over-assign impact to actually pretty low-impact actions such as recycling, and underestimate the actual carbon impact of behaviors much more carbon intensive,
