The European Union's headlong rush into soft totalitarianism continues apace. Drooling with envy over China's social credit system, European powers are constantly looking for ways to restrict the ability to speak privately with one another. France flipped to support. 19 of 27 member states are now backing it. Germany's undecided - but if Berlin folds, mass surveillance becomes law by mid-October. The excuse? Stopping CSAM. The reality? Total algorithmic surveillance and the end of private messaging in Europe.

Margaret Thatcher was so wise. She could see this stuff coming. Did you know this? You may recall that the French government arrested and held Telegram's CEO last August and extorted the means of cracking Telegram's encryption before they let him go. It was a bold totalitarian move to coerce compliance, and they got away with it.

Ironically, if anyone, it's public officials who should be required to have all of their private messages scanned and made public. Once you become a government official, all privacy should end. Everyone should know everything you say and do.

All American war dead lying in European cemeteries should be re-patriated to U.S. soil. We pulled their butts out of two world wars, the last witnessing the destruction of the entire continent. They are implementing the same Nazi agenda formulated one-hundred years ago while Adolf enjoyed a short prison stint. I do not believe our war dead are safe on totalitarian European soil. Bring our boys home!

The woman who was brutally beaten in downtown Cincinnati by a mob of men is speaking out for the first time, describing the attack and lambasting the city's leadership for how they've handled the case. Holly, who is currently choosing to only go by her first name, showed physical signs of the ordeal while speaking to Fox News' Laura Ingraham, with visible bruises under her eye and on her cheek. She went on to talk about what led up to the assault that left her on her back, bleeding in the street. According to Holly,

Just because former President Joe Biden's decline while in office has been confirmed beyond a shadow of a doubt, thanks in part to ongoing investigations as well as conveniently timed books from reporters on the matter, doesn't mean questions about the mental acuity of those who are still serving in government have gone away or should go away. We've written before, for instance, about the periodic incoherency that has come from former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), with interviews done and video clips shared on social media from time to time that are, as my RedState colleague Rusty Weiss described, the equivalent of "nightmare fuel"

Just a couple months ago things were getting out of control in Los Angles night after night but this led a bunch of people to offer defenses of LA. The argument was that most of the city wasn't overrun with looters and rioters only parts of downtown. There was a lot of this, including on Jimmy Kimmel's show. He did a whole segment about how everything was fine. Meanwhile, the actual mayor of LA had declared a state of emergency and an 8pm curfew for downtown. The tweets denying there was a problem and the mayor's curfew were happening on the same day.

The Biden administration abused its power by turning the entire mechanism of the federal government into a Democratic voter mobilization campaign, according to newly unearthed White House documents viewed exclusively by The Post. The worst offender was FEMA, the Federal Emergency Management Agency, under the Department of Homeland Security, which was controlled for four years by Biden’s Machiavellian border buster Alejandro Mayorkas. When responding to an emergency or a natural disaster, FEMA employees were directed to make voter registration a “key priority.”

A 22-year-old US Army soldier in Texas was arrested Wednesday and charged with attempting to send sensitive information about US battle tanks to Russia, the Justice Department said in a news release. Federal prosecutors allege that Taylor Adam Lee, who is an active-duty service member stationed at Fort Bliss and possesses a very high, top-secret clearance, offered assistance to Russia and sent technical information about the M1A2 Abrams tank online in June. Lee, according to prosecutors, stated online that “the USA is not happy with me for trying to expose their weaknesses,” and said, “At this point I’d even volunteer to assist the Russian federation when I’m there in any way.”

Israel plans to take military control of the entire Gaza Strip, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Thursday, ahead of a security cabinet meeting in which senior officials will discuss a proposal to expand Israeli operations in Gaza. Asked by Fox News’ Bill Hemmer whether Israel intends to take control of the entirety of the 26-mile strip, Netanyahu responded “we intend to.” “We want to liberate ourselves and the people of Gaza from the awful terror of Hamas,” Netanyahu said. The prime minister stipulated that Israel does not want to retain control of Gaza in the long term, saying “we don’t want to keep it. We don’t want to govern it.

An Australian state has asked citizens to surrender machetes at disposal bins ahead of a statewide ban on the weapons aimed at combating knife crime. Australia’s state of Victoria on Thursday announced that more than 40 machete disposal bins will be available at police stations across the state to allow citizens to safely get rid of the weapons without a penalty before the Sept. 1 ban begins. "Owning, carrying, using, buying, or selling a machete without a valid exemption or approval will be a criminal offense," the Victorian government said in a statement. The government is running a "Machete Amnesty" period from Sept. 1 to Nov. 30 to support the safe disposal

It wasn’t supposed to be like this. A big, explosive controversy that’s impossible to ignore! A jaw-dropping confession that outraged his corporate bosses! Or maybe he’d finally suffer the consequences of speaking “truth to power” — and pay the ultimate price for refusing to back down! That’s how “The Howard Stern Show” was supposed to end. This November marks the 100th anniversary of TS Eliot’s haunting poem, “The Hollow Men.” It’s a telling coincidence, for it foretold not just the fate of the world, but of a certain shock-jock: “This is the way the [Howard Stern Show] ends; Now with a bang but a whimper.” This week, the news broke:

President Trump is putting America first again. This time, he’s going after the rigged system that counts illegal aliens in the U.S. Census, skewing congressional representation and rewarding sanctuary states with more power. On Thursday, Trump announced he’s directing the Department of Commerce to conduct a new, corrected census — one that actually counts American citizens and excludes those here illegally. “I have instructed our Department of Commerce to immediately begin work on a new and highly accurate CENSUS based on modern day facts and figures and, importantly, using the results and information gained from the Presidential Election of 2024,” Trump announced in a post on Truth Social.

“If you find yourself arguing that it’s a good thing to drop nuclear weapons on people, then you are evil.” Thus spake Tucker Carlson last year on Joe Rogan’s podcast after the Daily Wire’s Jeremy Boreing claimed on Twitter that people who condemn the dropping of the bombs and describe the United States as evil for doing so, hate their country. Boreing and Carlson were replaying an argument that has been on a loop ever since the Sixties: Was Truman’s decision to drop the bombs justified? As an historical debate, there will probably never be an end to it.

If so, why do public employees need unions? Maybe in our lifetimes we’ll see public-sector unions reduced to the rubble they should have been crushed into decades ago. Government workers aren’t angels and their union affiliations aren’t sacred. The country would be better off with far fewer of the former and none of the latter.
