Donald Trump privately 'approves attack
plans' for Iran but withholds final order

Donald Trump told senior aides late Tuesday that he approved attack plans for Iran. The development comes amid intensifying conflict between Iran and Israel,as both nations continue to exchange fire in what has become the region’s most volatile standoff in years. The president has however withheld a final order to see if Tehran would abandon its nuclear program, the Wall Street Journal reported on Wednesday, citing three people familiar with the deliberations. The Pentagon is providing options to the President as he decides next steps - but would not confirm whether the military was planning to assist with Israeli strikes.

If this is true and someone leaked to the Mirror, they should be removed from their jobs. I tend to think that the Mirror is making this up to stoke anger against Trump and that they think that they can get away with the lie because no one is named as the source.

God has blessed our brains with the ability to recognize patterns. And, this feels a lot like the run-up to the Iraq war. The only difference is the democrat in the Bush intelligence administration said Sadaam's WMD'S were a 'slam dunk' then quit shortly after the war started. Whereas Tulsi has been balanced and more measured. The same political hawks are pushing for death and destruction in the Middle East. The same media voices are rah-rah, gung-ho for war. We've been down this road before. My questions deserve a better answer than 'let's go kill the other guy.' For instance: 1) Did the Israeli's start a war they could not finish without the help of the US? If so, why? Did BiBi lie when he said Iran tried to assassinate our president? I've not read that either of the known shooters had visible ties to Iran. If he lied, why? 2) There must be other options besides our largest bunker buster bomb which by the way has not been proven to work. What if it fails? How humiliating will that be for our president and country? The generals say it will work. Generals also said there were WMD's in Iraq. A new batch of generals in place, you say? Their ranks were purged years ago. Who knows where true loyalties lie? 3) The facility in the mountain has an entrance. Why can't the Israeli's collapse the access, rather than depending on our bombs to pierce into the facility? 4) How many other uranium enrichment sites do they have and are they scheduled for demolition? Is the president fully informed as to the true extent of Iran's nuclear activities? 5) Biden allowed tens of thousands of people into our country many of whom have terrorist ties. Can the president assure us there are no Iranian sleeper cells in America? 6) The IC tried to goad him into a war with Iran over a drone during his last term. He was smart enough (with God's help) to see it and not take the bait. How can he be sure this is not the same? 7) The mullahs don't have many friends in their neighborhood. But China gets most of its oil from Iran. How much are they willing to help them? Will it prolong the conflict or involve Israel and us in a skirmish with them as well? 8) Can he accomplish the same goal without violence, by sanctions, collapsing the finances of their leaders, or affecting the flow or production of their oil sales? 9) What else can be done to stop the mullahs/IRGC without hurting the Iranian people, the majority of whom have done us no harm and with whom we have no quarrel? I recognize the threat to Israel and America and understand it has to be dealt with. I am also tired of losing wars and skirmishes. And, sickened by people making money off of deadly weapons, the shed blood of our children and those in other nations. Not to mention the fact that our kids are underpaid, and the sick and wounded have to fight with their government to get the benefits they deserve afterward. The American people voted for peace and this looks like anything but. It could quickly turn into a nightmare of epic proportions and another military money pit. I pray that God will guide our president in making the wisest choices for us, short of bombing, combat or war; that Israel will finish the job they started unaided, making sure the world won't be confronting this situation again. And I pray for righteous leaders for Iran who will love, respect, and care for the Iranian people.

Israel has played its part in this need to end Iran and its proxies. The Iran which remains is almost unable to defend itself. Don't get me wrong, they still have missiles and the will to use them. But however much we might wish to see some Iranian faction elevate the head of the Ayatollah on a pike, leaving intact the Iranian nuclear stockpiles and capabilities will simply allow someone else to wield them. Israel does not have the armaments needed to collapse the deep and hardened Iranian nuclear facilities. Only the US does. And if Trump delays much longer some of those weapons will be smuggled out and eventually used. He has the same difficult decision to make that Truman did 80 years ago. Please end this, Mr. President. Only you can.

One of Trump's signature negotiating skills is to keep opponents off balance and guessing. I wouldn't be a bit surprised if the WH is intentionally feeding the media an assortment of real and fake information, knowing full well they'll all try to outdo each other with sensational and hyped-up reporting. He's getting the media to do his work for him, only they're too stoooopid to know they're being used.

President Donald Trump has set a two-week deadline to decide if the United States will strike Iran. “Based on the fact that there is a substantial chance of negotiations that may or may not take place in the near future, I will make my decision of whether or not to go within the next two weeks,” White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said Thursday, reading a statement from the president to reporters. Leavitt said Trump would prefer a diplomatic solution, but the president — in consultation with the National Security Council — is weighing U.S. military intervention to keep Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon,

As President Trump is contemplating potential U.S. strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities, law enforcement officials have stepped up surveillance of Iran-backed operatives in the United States, multiple sources told CBS News. FBI Director Kash Patel has increased efforts to monitor possible domestic sleeper cells linked to Hezbollah — a U.S.-designated foreign terrorist organization backed by Iran — since Israel's Operation Rising Lion offensive began earlier this month, U.S. officials said. Both the White House and FBI declined to comment. The threat from Iranian operatives has worried current and former administration officials since Iranian General Qasem Soleimani was assassinated on Mr. Trump's orders in January 2020.

We've talked about this topic before but as Nate Silver points out today, it probably gets less attention than it should. Let's just start with the chart so you can refer back to it. As the legend indicates, this is a 0-100 point scale where 100 is "excellent" and 0 is "poor." As you can see, conservatives are significantly happier than liberals in every subcategory of gender, race, age and education. And the chart keeps going with a look at income, religion, marriage, sexual orientation and political activity. Here's a bit of what Silver has to say about these results which come from a large survey with 60,000 respondents.

Israel Destroys Iran's Arak Nuclear Reactor 14 replies

Wowza. It's no surprise that Israel has destroyed Iran's Arak nuclear reactor. After all, it was a key element of Iran's program to build nuclear weaponry, and a very vulnerable target. The only strategic reason not to attack it was the fact that it could have contained highly radioactive material, and Israel had to balance the benefit of denying its use to Iran against the consequences of releasing dangerous and long-lived radioactive material if the supposedly inactive reactor held fissionable material.

Israel's remarkable early success in its campaign against Iran has clearly won over President Trump, who has now taken to using the term “we” when discussing the operation. This has increased the debate over whether — and to what extent — the U.S. should join the effort. In under a week, Israel has achieved complete air supremacy, allowing its pilots to hit targets in Iran without fear of harassment. Though the conflict has taken a toll (Iran’s indiscriminate ballistic missile attacks have killed dozens of Israelis and injured hundreds more), the Iranian counterstrikes have not destroyed any significant strategic targets.

Democrats learned a lesson from Donald Trump's return to the White House: getting arrested is good politics. It's for good reasons that Americans recoil when prominent political figures are manhandled, put in handcuffs, or have their mugshot taken live on camera. We all love the idea of politicians in handcuffs or being thrown into jail, but we rightly expect that this will only happen if they commit crimes. Lawfare is incompatible with our values. Of course, Democrats engaged in a multi-year campaign of lawfare against Donald Trump and his associates, and it didn't work out so well for them. So, in an odd twist,

Carbon dioxide, we’ve been told over and again, is the enemy that must be subdued if we are to avoid catastrophic global warming. It is, however, a faulty premise. Physics, not politics, tells us that man’s CO2 emissions will not cause catastrophic climate change nor an increase in extreme weather. “The common belief that CO2 is the main driver of climate change and the EPA Endangerment Finding assertion that ‘elevated concentrations of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere may reasonably be anticipated’ to endanger the public health and welfare are scientifically false,” conclude the authors of a new paper.

Israel needs a 15-ton ‘bunker buster’ bomb to destroy the last untouched nuclear facility in Iran, but only the US has one. Such a powerful weapon – the largest non-nuclear bomb in the US arsenal – is needed because the target, Fordow Fuel Enrichment Plant, is built some 300 feet inside a mountain near the city of Qom, two hours south of Tehran. The heavyweight explosive is known as a GBU-57A/B Massive Ordnance Penetrator and was designed by Boeing for the United States Air Force. Its huge weight means it can only be delivered with a B-2 Spirit stealth bomber – a jet Israel’s air force does not possess.
