How Best To Do It: I&I/TIPP Poll

If Congress thinks it can once again kick the can down the road when it comes to federal debt and deficits, it might be surprised if it thinks voters really won’t pay much attention. They will, and yes they care about the future danger posed by soaring deficits and debt, the latest I&I/TIPP Poll shows. Congress’ current debate over how much spending to cut, whether to extend President Donald Trump’s 2017 tax cuts, and whether to increase the current $36 trillion debt ceiling by $4 trillion, will all depend on how voters view those moves – and whether they view them

The voters need not worry. They have nothing to say about it.

It's not the voters that have a problem with how to cut the budget. The voters know exactly how to cut the budget. It's the people in D.C. that are the problem. Perhaps we need to cut the number of representatives.

#2 If they would stop counting the illegals, that might take care of the problem. However, the number of them doesn't matter. Their backbone matters and they don't have any.

A few thoughts: -Cut Spending..... but not MY pet program! -Congress is a bunch of Liars and Thieves,,,,, by MY Congressman is a Good Guy! -What are people complaining about? We have the Best Congress that Money Can Buy! More seriously, I believe that the CBO's calculations do not take into account the added economic activity that happens when taxes are lowered, and the decreased activity when taxes are raised. This might be why their economic forecasts are usually so far off. I never see any mention of the Laffer curve, and any mention of a calculation of what percentage of taxes at each income level will actually result in the most income for the Federal government. On the other hand, the Government should be there to serve the Citizens, the Citizens are not there just to provide income to the Government.

To #4 What you are saying is true. HOWEVER, (c'mon, you knew that was coming) I have heard about this magically happening my entire adult life but, they just bust through their own budget limits time after time. The Government will just spend more. No matter how much they take in, they will ALWAYS spend MORE.

If they would just freeze the spending level for about 5 years the budget would almost balance itself. The out of control federal monster has an insatiable need to spend more each year. Introduce some private sector incentives. If a department meets its requirements and stays within budget or goes a little under budget, start handing out bonuses to those responsible. You could count on more efficiency and less waste if there were financial incentives involved.

ANYONE who wants to increase the debt limit is a T R E A S O N O U S POS! I do not care if ther're blond with a red tie or a sleaze from San Francisco! The increase proposed by the BBB is looking a lot like the one Schumer would've written! Deep State Hach Johnson is not one iota more conservative than Jamie Raskin!

The National Guard was called in to California to protect law enforcement officers who are executing legitimate operations from the feral mobs. Had the previous president fulfilled his constitutional duty, as he promised he would when he took the oath of office, the spasm of violence over illegal immigrant arrests would have never happened, and President Donald Trump would have never had to make that call. The scenes in Los Angeles are disturbing. An assortment of thugs, screeching harridans, and nothing-else-to-do troublemakers have been blocking and physically confronting officers, hurling bricks and rocks at them,

Whenever President Donald Trump does something that confounds his biggest supporters, the common response is: “Well, Trump is playing 4D chess.” Some posited that this is what was going on after Trump’s initial response to Elon Musk’s bashing of the “Big, Beautiful Bill.” [snip] This isn’t 4D chess – not that we have any idea what 4D chess means. But maybe it’s 5D chess – the kind of chess that can warp reality in such a way as to make liberals’ heads explode. Hear us out. The left hates Trump and Musk about equally. When they were working together, the hatred toward them was turbocharged. But what happens when Trump starts bashing Musk

It’s obvious that Donald Trump is a different president. His divergence from the norm manifests itself in various ways. He’s even broached the possibility of eliminating the Internal Revenue Service. Count us among the tens if not hundreds of millions of Americans who wish him godspeed if he chooses to dissolve this truly abusive agency. Trump’s IRS commissioner nominee, Billy Long, whose appointment passed another hurdle Tuesday, might give us a little more insight into Trump’s plans for the IRS. Long, a former Republican House member from Missouri, cosponsored more than a decade ago a bill that would

When the Congressional Budget Office reported that the Republicans’ “big, beautiful” reconciliation bill would boost deficits and throw millions off insurance rolls, it was treated as gospel truth. The CBO is, after all, a “non-partisan” agency, staffed by just-the-facts-ma’am budget and economic experts who don’t have any axes to grind. Maybe that’s true. But it’s not partisan bias that is the problem. It’s the CBO’s terrible track record when it comes to predicting the impact of tax and health care policies. By the CBO’s accounting, the House reconciliation bill would cut tax revenue by $3.7 trillion

The economy appears to be booming, consumer confidence is rising, inflation is coming in lower, and job growth higher, than expected. Normally, we’d all be celebrating good news like this. But not when Donald Trump is sitting in the White House. Then it must be ignored or explained away. Ever since Trump took office, we’ve been treated to a steady diet of doomsaying. His tariffs would fuel inflation. He was driving the economy toward a recession. When the Commerce Department reported a slight contraction in the first quarter – so slight that future revisions could show that the economy expanded in

The net-zero zealots want to force a worldwide renewable energy transition. But they don’t always get their way. Their fanciful projects have been blocked more than 1,000 times globally. In a world seemingly gone mad, this is welcome news. “The total number of alt-energy rejections or restrictions now exceeds 1,000 — it’s 1,011 to be exact,” says energy author Robert Bryce, who operates a database that shows 814 U.S rejections of solar, wind and battery projects. Add those to others across the world and the total exceeds a grand. “The rejections keep coming,” says Bryce. “Since the beginning of May,

Presidents rise or fall based on what voters think of them, at least when it comes to political clout and influence. How is President Donald Trump doing? So far, so good, but there is still room for improvement, the latest I&I/TIPP Poll suggests. While Trump is in only the fifth month of his second term, Americans feel much more favorable about him right now than than they did about former President Joe Biden in his final month in office, the June I&I/TIPP Poll shows. In the latest poll, taken from May 28-30, I&I/TIPP once again asked voters: “Overall, is your opinion of Donald Trump generally favorable,

This week, we saw a spate of news stories blaming Democrats’ troubles on their vocabulary. They’re just using too many darn multisyllabic, academic-sounding words and turning off numbskull voters, is the basic message. Seriously? The Democrats’ problem isn’t linguistic, it’s ideological. But no one in the party wants to admit that. A Washington Post story this week – “Democratic troubles revive debate over left-wing buzzwords” – begins by saying: Maybe it’s using the word ‘oligarchs’ instead of rich people. Or referring to ‘people experiencing food insecurity’ rather than Americans going hungry. Or ‘equity’ in place of ‘equality,’ or ‘justice-involved populations’ instead of prisoners.

Anyone who thought electric-vehicle mandates and policies designed to force Americans out of their cars and into public transit or onto early 18th century-technology (bicycles) are intended to protect the environment is either naive or an accomplice in tyranny. The evidence has been helpfully provided by a Massachusetts senator who wants to limit how far people can travel. We have heard well past the point of being fed up that the world has to sharply cut greenhouse gas emissions or we’ll scorch or planet. Carbon dioxide produced by man, the fanatics assure us, is an existential threat.

Leftist Prime Minister Mark Carney might not be as prissy and preposterous as his predecessor, Justin Trudeau, but he is just as tyrannical. Thousands of anti-ICE rioters descended on a major freeway in downtown Los Angeles Sunday evening, blocking traffic in both directions, while rioters downtown set off fireworks and torched several self-driving cars. Police officers were eventually able to force the mob down an exit ramp, restoring the free flow of traffic on the 101 Freeway, but Los Angeles Police Chief Jim McDonnell admitted that his officers were “overwhelmed” by the scale of the riots, which have continued for four consecutive days in Los Angeles. “We are overwhelmed,” McDonnell said in a Sunday night press conference. “Tonight, we had individuals out there shooting commercial-grade fireworks at our officers. Democrats are trying to make “TACO” — or “Trump always chickens out”— a new political slogan to get under the president’s skin. But it is not as clever a quip as they think it is, and it creates a perverse incentive for Trump to push the red buttons they don’t want him to push. If you’re the media, you call it a “mostly peaceful protest.” Normal people might call it an “insurrection.” But “insurrection” is not quite right, either. “Insurrection” implies a violent revolt against the government by its own citizens, not violence by uninvited foreigners who refuse to leave. I suppose you could call it a riot, but when its foreigners claiming ownership of the land, it’s a bit more than that. So, the question remains: What do you call it when foreigners: illegally enter the country, refuse our requests that they leave, assert ownership over the land, attack our people, places and government, under the colors of their foreign flag while burning the American flag,
