Los Angeles has been embroiled in anti-ICE riots for the last couple of days.
We've been reporting on a lot of the violence, including assailing a federal detention facility, hurling rocks at agents in cars, blocking their vehicles, damaging property, and even setting vehicles on fire while waving a foreign flag.
Yet what you got from the local officials was failed action. The first statement from Mayor Bass on Friday was encouraging the bad actors. DHS said their building was surrounded, and it took the police two hours to respond to their calls.

The Philadelphia Department of Public Health lifted its recommendation to stay inside on Friday after air quality concerns arose following a three-alarm fire that engulfed multiple SEPTA buses at a yard in the Nicetown section of Philadelphia on Thursday.
On Friday, SEPTA officials also said an electrical fire caused by a battery in one of the electric buses started the blaze.
The buses caught fire at the agency's Midvale depot located off Roberts Avenue, around 6:15 a.m. Thursday. SEPTA General Manager Scott Sauer said all of the buses had been decommissioned and were in the process of being sold or scrapped.
Sauer said among the 40 damaged buses, 15 of them were electric.

The crew of a cargo ship carrying 3,000 vehicles to Mexico, including 800 electric vehicles, abandoned ship after they could not control a fire aboard the vessel in waters off Alaska’s Aleutian island chain.
A large plume of smoke was initially seen at the ship’s stern coming from the deck loaded with electric vehicles Tuesday, according to US Coast Guard photos and a Wednesday statement from the ship’s management company, London-based Zodiac Maritime.
There were no reported injuries among the 22 crew members of the Morning Midas. Crew members abandoned ship, were evacuated onto a lifeboat and rescued by the crew of a nearby merchant vessel

As New Yorkers worry about crime and sky-high living costs, Albany is moving to stop a different threat: supposedly poisonous pans.
State Sen. Brad Hoylman-Sigal’s bill to end the sale of nonstick cookware has cleared the Senate and is zooming to an Assembly vote — because the progressives who dominate the Legislature just love banning things, especially on trendy (though psuedoscientific) health grounds.
Internet buzz about “forever chemicals” in these pans has it that PFAS (polyfluoroalkyl substances) cause cancer, though the FDA has long maintained the pans are perfectly safe

So say the grifters that tried to get another four years in power by pretending Joe Biden was Sharp As a Tack. I mean, point taken about the Karine Jean-Pierre and grifting, but come on, man.
Of course, Jean-Pierre acted as Chief Propagandist for Sharp As Tack and Cheap Fakes narratives. Are the other grifters worried that KJP will spill the beans on everyone else? Or just miffed because she got there first?
Inquiring minds want to know:
Karine Jean-Pierre’s announcement that she’s leaving the Democratic Party — timed with the rollout of a new book — has detonated long-simmering grievances among her former White House colleagues

Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy threatened Wednesday to pull federal grants for California’s High-Speed Rail Authority after it spent nearly $7 billion in taxpayer funds over a decade and a half without laying a single foot of track.
In a more than 300-page report, Duffy detailed the missed deadlines and stretched budget for the long-running project — and gave the Golden State’s high-speed rail office 37 days to respond or lose out on around $4 billion in grants.
“This report exposes a cold, hard truth: CHSRA has no viable path to complete this project on time or on budget,” he said.

Italy’s Mount Etna, the highest active volcano in Europe, started erupting Monday — sending scores of panicked tourists running for safety.
Huge plumes of smoke filled the sky around Sicily as the famous landmark began to explode first thing, causing nearby homes to shake.
The Volcanic Ash Advisory Centre Toulouse quickly issued a “code red” as volcanic ash began falling over the tourist haven.
The agency had warned in its latest update that the volcano was experiencing “strong strombolian activity.”

From our regularly scheduled and faintly obnoxious "As I said twenty years ago" featurette. Me in The Daily Telegraph, December 20th 2005:
These days, whenever something goofy turns up on the news, chances are it involves a fellow called Mohammed. A plane flies into the World Trade Centre? Mohammed Atta. A gunman shoots up the El Al counter at Los Angeles airport? Hesham Mohamed Hedayet. A sniper starts killing petrol station customers around Washington, DC? John Allen Muhammed. A guy fatally stabs a Dutch movie director? Mohammed Bouyeri. A terrorist slaughters dozens in Bali? Noordin Mohamed. A gang-rapist in Sydney? Mohammed Skaf.

An Arkansas kindergarten graduation descended into madness when a large brawl broke out between parents, forcing school officials to scold the “unacceptable” behavior displayed in front of the little tykes.
Several adults threw punches at each other in the hallway of West Memphis’ Faulk Elementary on Wednesday as the frightened screams of nearby children filled the crowded corridor.
Multiple men and women were in the center of the melee, plowing through the school as other parents rushed to get their children away from the danger, according to video obtained by WREG. Kids could also be heard crying “stop” in the video.

You gotta admire the effort. MSNBC and CNN both deserve trophies. While the completion at Fox has stomped on their collective necks, the two alternate reality left-wing networks have persisted. CNN and MSNBC are like youth soccer teams who went 0 for forever in May. They deserve our attention, if only for the collective lack of attention by the viewing public. Give them both pats on their heads and a slice of orange and tell them they tried their best – there's always next month. Pride Month is next up and, heck, it can’t get worse... right?
With a couple of days left in May, ratings are in,

Progressive Nashville Mayor Freddie O’Connell is being investigated by the feds for allegedly “aiding and abetting” illegal immigrants and obstructing ICE agents.
The Department of Homeland Security and congressional judiciary committees are probing whether O’Connell used federal tax dollars “in criminal enterprise” related to illegal immigration, Tennessee Rep. Andy Ogles announced.
The progressive mayor had condemned a huge Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) operation that nabbed immigrants — many criminals with gang affiliations — and then signed an executive order making city staff report all communications they have with agents.

One of the masked thugs suspected of savagely beating and robbing an off-duty NYPD cop at knifepoint in the Bronx over the weekend was busted Tuesday morning, law enforcement sources said.
Taveon Hargrove, 23, was picked up by the US Marshals’ Regional Fugitive Task Force in North Chesterfield, Virginia, in connection to the brutal caught-on-video early Saturday attack on the 27-year-old officer on St. Peters Avenue in Westchester Square, according to the sources.
Charges are pending against Hargrove, who cops over the weekend warned was “to be considered armed and dangerous.”

I often thought Obama didn't write his own books. Than this comes along and I'm dead certain she didn't write anything but the back of the check she was given.
