A baby who was born with a rare genetic disorder that causes facial deformities was given a poor prognosis by doctors and abandoned by his birth parents. However, he got a second chance at life when he was adopted by a Christian family who supported him through surgeries, an autism diagnosis, brutal bullying, and countless battles for acceptance. Today, that man is 47-year-old Dr. Francis Joel Smith of Denver, Colorado, who is a medical research scientist, public speaker, and advocate for others with the same diagnosis as his: Treacher Collins syndrome.

A tremendous example of fortitude. Whenever you imagine that you have problems in life, remember that others have it far worse and are making a go of it, in spite of difficulties. I learned this as a 19-20 year old, in the hospital in traction for months after a bad motorcycle accident. But it was a military hospital and my roommate and other patients had been shot and blown up in Vietnam, and were recovering and not complaining. Not many people that age get to learn that lesson so early. Never complain, just get on with life and deal with whatever your problems are.

An amazing story of perseverance through a difficult life; he achieved much more than anyone would have anticipated. God blessed him with wonderful godly parents who were there for him every step of the way and who gave him his faith. R.I.P.

The man has accomplished more in his lifetime than most "glamourous" people ever will. Sometimes "beauty" is nothing but a distraction from what really matters most in life. Only one life, and soon 'tis passed, Only that done for Christ will last. - anonymous

FTA: "The Smiths already had nine adopted children with special needs, after losing a dozen babies to stillbirth, and would adopt another after Smith. They changed his name from Hugh Dermot to Francis Joel, named after St. Francis of Assisi, and finalized the adoption when Smith turned 14." I have to believe that God blessed Robert and Betty Smith (adoptive parents), as well as the "elderly African American woman in Indianapolis," who cared for young Dr. Smith until he was three years old.

Moscow has claimed that that a “massive” Ukrainian drone attack targeted Vladimir Putin’s helicopter as the Russian leader visited the embattled Kursk region earlier this week. Russian air defence officer Yury Dashkin said on Sunday that Putin’s helicopter was at the “epicentre of an operation to repel a massive drone attack” on Tuesday, state media RT reports. The alleged attack came as the Russian leader visited the Kursk region, which saw the most significant incursion into Russian territory since the Second World War after Ukraine’s forces launched a daring counterinvasion last summer.

I have been requested to update and revisit my outline from summer 2024 when I discussed the potential for the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI), a position now occupied by DNI Tulsi Gabbard. As a new White House strategy begins to surface, perhaps revisiting what is possible will provide a perspective not often discussed. Confronting a weaponized Intelligence Community is of great interest, because it is a component battle against the main tools of the Fourth Branch of Government. The IC influence is in every policy related to Trump’s domestic and foreign agenda. Taking control and neutering the capabilities of the IC and CIA specifically,

As we often remind ourselves, maintaining a leftist ideology is contingent upon pretending not to know things, and that applies even when you are discussing the opposition not doing something that you yourself never did. During a recent podcast interview, President Obama’s former National Security Advisor, Susan Rice, takes the pretending to stratospheric levels needed in order to retain Obama-level pretending. The criticism she rails against is so hilariously hypocritical I find myself wondering if anyone ever were to call her out, could she even respond.Susan Rice complains about President Trump having a relationship with the duplicitous “Qataris,” who she proclaims are terribly nefarious and dastardly,

The stage is set for a constitutional battle between President Donald Trump and a federal watchdog over the extent of presidential authority on spending, as Trump seeks to make sweeping federal spending and personnel cuts. Trump and administration officials want to reduce existing restrictions on the president’s impoundment power, which allows a president to decline to spend money appropriated by Congress. According to Trump, the Impoundment Control Act of 1974—which requires the president to seek permission to rescind, or officially end, funding—violates the Constitution and the separation of powers. (snip( His critics, meanwhile, say that the White House is transgressing Congress’s power of the purse.

Signs of the Chinese regime’s influence are becoming more prevalent on YouTube, especially in English-language content about China. Paid agitators are flooding comment sections, propaganda videos are being masked as grassroots content, and influencers are being offered cash or crypto to push the regime’s message. Aside from content that artificially boosts the regime’s image, much of the propaganda is aimed at discrediting Beijing’s critics, particularly religious and ethnic minorities persecuted in China, as well as the United States more broadly. Much of the propaganda content on YouTube is hard to trace back to the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). Many times, it’s produced by American or European

Far from helping to end the war in Ukraine, all the indications suggest that US President Donald Trump's mediation efforts are not only prolonging the conflict, but increasing the likelihood that Russia will ultimately emerge victorious. Indeed, far from showing any interest in ending Russia's military offensive in Ukraine, the Russian leader has given every intention that he intends to continue fighting until victory has been achieved. Nor does there appear to be any serious prospect that Trump will be willing to hit the Kremlin with further sanctions, let alone military encouragement, if it fails to show any serious interest in peace negotiations.

Many found her good-looking (no rarity among con women, it’s true) with traditional WASP features and a mane of blonde hair, though others found her a trifle horse-faced. For a time, it seemed possible that she’d attain a status second only to El Rushbo himself. Left-wing media very much wants President Donald Trump to have dementia. At first, they began peddling this narrative to distract from former President Joe Biden’s obvious cognitive decline. Now, they are likely using it for a similar reason. The Insider published a so-called “investigation” into Trump’s supposed cognitive issues during his second term. It enlisted several mental health professionals to support their narrative. Dr. Bandy Lee, formerly of Yale University, claimed the president is showing clear signs of early dementia. These signs include reduced vocabulary, incoherence, impulsivity, and “paraphasias,”

Trump’s eldest son, Donald Trump Jr., suggested this past week that he was keeping the door open to a possible run after his father leaves the White House, acknowledging “that calling is there.” Some swing state governors have also made moves that stoked speculation of presidential ambitions this cycle. According to the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA), Iran is now capable of spinning up enough of its highly enriched uranium (HEU) from its current level of 60% to the 90% necessary to build a nuclear bomb, in “probably less than one week.” The timeline for Israel to act against Iran's nuclear program has now compressed considerably. Coupled with the glacial pace of U.S. talks with Iran on its nuclear program, and the state of readiness of Israeli strike forces, some analysts have concluded that Israel is prepared to strike Iranian nuclear facilities in a matter of days. The impasse in nuclear talks with Iran is "irreconcilable," according to the Israelis.

There was a time, not so long ago, when climate scientist Michael Mann could bully critics into silence with the mere threat of a lawsuit. He was the face behind the infamous "hockey stick" graph, a man lauded by progressives, featured in Al Gore's documentary, and embraced by a media eager to label skeptics as dangerous deniers. But the courtroom, as it turns out, is no place for manufactured myths or moral grandstanding. A Washington, D.C. court just handed Mann a bruising legal defeat. After more than a decade of litigation, he has been ordered to pay over $1 million in attorney's fees to the very people he accused of defamation:

Spanish authorities were experimenting with how far they could push their reliance on renewable energy before the Iberian Peninsula was hit with a massive power outage last month, it has been suggested. As people wait for more answers on what caused the power cut that disrupted tens of millions of lives across Spain and Portugal, several have questioned Spain's heavy reliance on renewable energy sources as it plans to phase out nuclear reactors. The Mann saga deserved focus, and Steyn’s fight deserves its own chapter. This is that chapter. Author, broadcaster, and unflinching cultural critic Mark Steyn did not merely weather a defamation trial. He survived it physically, financially, and morally when most would have buckled under the strain. What began as a battle over words became a battle over the soul of free speech.
