Five House Republicans voted present, opposed or missed the vote on President Donald Trump’s “one big, beautiful bill,” which included major spending and tax cuts. The House advanced the legislation mostly on party lines Thursday with a vote of 215-214-1. Among Republican lawmakers, Ohio Rep. Warren Davidson and Kentucky Rep. Thomas Massie voted against it, Maryland Rep. Andy Harris voted present and New York Rep. Andrew Garbarino and Arizona Rep. David Schweikert were both absent from the vote. Every House Democrat opposed the bill.

"Republicans passed the bill Thursday morning by a narrow margin. Only two Republicans, safe-seat Reps. Thomas Massie of Kentucky and Warren Davidson of Ohio, joined every Democrat in voting against the bill."
"Reps. Andrew Garbarino of New York and David Schweikert of Arizona did not vote. Every other Republican voted for the bill.
Johnson told reporters Garbarino “fell asleep” and missed the roll call, while Schweikert, who represents one of the nation's most closely divided swing districts, supported the bill but narrowly missed the vote, too."

Those 2 safe house seats which were no "votes"... immediately, some MAGA republican candidate needs to start their campaign and hang this around their neck, esp... Massie, who has proven he hates Trump and votes against him at every turn. Just expose his voting record to your district... despite his conservative banter... just hang those NO votes around his neck in every rebuttal... every commercial is all about the NO votes before the next primary; knock on doors - have a chart of every NO vote against President Trump... conservatives listen to reason and I know I'm sick of this wolf in sheep's clothing, pontificating on his "conservative" credos... while stabbing the President in the back "politically" every time a vote comes up.

Here is a link to a section-by-section summary of the bill:
https://www.congress.gov/bill/119th-congress/house-bill/1/all-info
Follow the link, then scroll down to the summary.
It is a huge bill, and it deals with a jillion different things, not just the handful of things that the Media highlights.
From what I read of this summary, there are a very large number of good things in the bill.
However, from what I understand, spending is still way too high.
I would like to see spending cut and the budget balanced, including paying off perhaps 5% of the DEBT each year, gradually reducing the debt to Zero, and cease having to pay the huge Interest expense. As I understand it, the Government presently spends more on Interest on the debt than it does on all the military services.... combined!
Part of the reason for the huge Interest payment is the interest Rate, which as I understand it is set by the Federal Reserve governors. If they were to reduce the interest rates, the amount of interest paid on the debt would gradually decrease, as groups of Federal bonds mature, and new bonds -at a lower rate- are issued to raise the money to pay off the old bonds.

This wouldn't be an issue, if everyone calling themselves Republicans were actually conservative. Democrats once advocated for the common folks, but became unabashed devotees of the cultural and big government elite. Today, too many Republicans no longer find big government abhorrent but believe that they can manage big government policies better than democrats, often adopting Keynesian social democratic spending policies, the opposite of conservative supply-side economics, which emphasizes business growth and deregulation.

Perfect is the enemy of the good. Anyone who expected this bill to be perfect should not be in politics.

For all of you that support this debt ridden monstrosity, please don't EVER complain about Democrats spending too much. Or Biden-flation. Or frankly, ANYTHING fiscally responsible not getting done. You love it for ONE simple reason. Trump want's it so, that's good enough I guess? The guy who campaigned on ending the debt in 8 years and has increased the debt more than ANY OTHER president.
I know, I'll be called a Liberal shill for having principles and not wanting the country to go broke but, Oh well.

Elon is walking away from politics because he found out republicans aren’t serious about spending cuts. A lot of the waste and fraud he found are funded in this bill through the new green deal. Like many if us he’s disgusted with the ones who campaign as MAGA but aren’t serious about spending cuts.

I wonder how Cassidy (RINO-La) managed to let this no vote opportunity slip past him?

Am ambivalent about this. On one hand the BBB isn't perfect and doesn't cut enough spending. On the other hand we are at war with the dims who desperately want something that they can claim as a victory.
