Democratic Congresswoman LaMonica McIver of New Jersey is being charged with assault after a confrontation with officers outside an immigration detention centre. Alina Habba - the interim US attorney for the state and an ally of President Donald Trump - announced the charges in a social media post late on Monday. Habba also said that her office would be dropping a trespassing case against the mayor of Newark, Ras Baraka, who is another Democratic politician. Scuffles broke out when McIver, Baraka and others paid an oversight visit to the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (Ice) centre in Newark on 9 May. No injuries were reported.

Comments:

Since it's a federal crime she won't get a pardon.

All these congress people had to do was ask for a tour of the facility. Being in government work they should have known this minor detail. They caused this ruckus on purpose.

This was not oversight. This was a cheap political PR stunt that ended badly. It was not only ignorant and childish. They were trespassing at a federal facility where they had no authority to be and then this very large woman starts trying to manhandle federal agents while screaming ‘I will touch anyone I want m***** f*****!’. Now she’s denying what we’ve all seen on the video. It would be comical if it wasn’t also pathetic and dangerous.

DC GULAG. BTW - since when are illegal aliens who the previous administration allowed into this country entitled to any due process beyond what US Immigration law allows? Where was all the concern about the flagrant violation of due process for US citizens arrested and detained indefinitely in many case without any legal assistance because they were at the Capitol on Jan 6, 2021? I sure hope AG Bondi (with a lot on her plate) has or will open up an investigation into the DC jailers who abused their J6 prisoners.

President Donald Trump suggested on Monday that there may be a larger conspiracy at work following former President Joe Biden’s cancer diagnosis. Trump addressed Biden’s stage four prostate cancer diagnosis while in the Oval Office, calling the situation “very sad.” The president added that people should look into how Biden’s cancer developed into a dangerous situation with no earlier detection. “If it’s the same doctor who said there was nothing wrong there, that’s being proven to be a sad situation,” Trump told reporters.

Former President Joe Biden received a diagnosis of prostate cancer on Friday, according to a Sunday announcement by his personal office. The statement characterizes the cancer Biden has as “a more aggressive form of the disease” that has metastasized to the bone, but the statement adds that it can be effectively managed. The diagnosis follows renewed scrutiny on Biden’s physical and mental decline, along with its cover-up, ahead of the release of a book on the subject titled “Original Sin” by CNN anchor Jake Tapper and Axios reporter Alex Thompson.

Thanedar, an embattled two-term lawmaker facing a primary challenge from the left, filed a privileged resolution Tuesday that would have forced House Democrats to vote on seven articles of impeachment brought against the president. Thanedar’s decision to cave to House Democratic leadership and not trigger a vote Wednesday, comes as Democrats viewed his impeachment effort as a distraction from the conference’s united opposition against the president’s “one big, beautiful bill.”

Several years ago, I was getting ready to travel to Austin, Texas, for a conference. Just out of curiosity, I looked into getting there by train. Amtrak was the only option, of course. My trip to Austin would take 36 hours, and the route was something like Atlanta to Washington to Chicago to Austin. It would also cost twice as much as flying. Needless to say, Amtrak was totally out as an option. Despite its impracticality and expense, the left loves to romanticize train travel.
