The Clean Air Act bans states from establishing their own tailpipe emission standards for trucks and cars. However, California can get an exemption to the ban if it gets a waiver from the EPA. Following thewaiver approval, California can implement its own emissions rules.

Security guards opened fire on Thursday on a person outside the gates of the CIA's headquarters near Washington, DC, and then took the suspect into custody, the intelligence agency said. The Justice Department on Monday launched a new Civil Rights Fraud Initiative that will use the False Claims Act to investigate and pursue claims against federally funded entities that knowingly violate civil rights laws — including colleges and universities.
