The Catholic Church has issued a warning to its clergy in Washington state: Any priest who complies with a new law requiring the reporting of child abuse confessions to authorities will be excommunicated.
The new law, which will take effect on July 27, eliminates the long-standing confidentiality of the confessional, forcing Catholic leaders and lawmakers into a highly charged standoff over religious liberty and child protection.
However, the Archdiocese of Seattle and several bishops argue that the law not only contravenes church doctrine but crosses constitutional lines, while supporters maintain it is a crucial step to protect minors from abuse.

The media is dialing up the doomsaying over the impact of President Donald J. Trump’s foreign tariffs and is going back to the well of perhaps the most successful fearmongering campaign of all time.
According to one left-leaning mainstream outlet, the tariffs could lead to a repeat of the great national toilet paper shortage of 2020, when mass hysteria stoked by the media sparked a panic that drove Americans to hoard bathroom tissue, leaving stores with barren shelves and forcing retailers to impose rationing measures.

Democratic Pennsylvania Senator John Fetterman’s popularity is underwater among Democratic voters in his state according to an internal poll. The poll was performed from Feb. 6 to 11 — three months before New York Magazine released an article reporting that staff and other sources close to the senator worry for his physical and mental health, which Fetterman has since called a “one-source hit piece.” With the poll arriving on the heels of the story, Democrats have “begun looking into rules” regarding the senator’s potential resignation and are “whispering about potential replacements,” according to Politico, who first reported the poll.

It’s a sad day in America when the chief justice of the U.S. Supreme Court ignores the basic framework of the Constitution he’s supposed to interpret.
That’s what happened on Wednesday, when Chief Justice John Roberts took it upon himself to subtly thumb his nose at President Trump and conservatives (snip) … the judiciary is a co-equal branch of government, separate from the others, with the authority to interpret the Constitution as law and strike down, obviously, acts of Congress or acts of the president. That innovation doesn’t work if … the judiciary’s not independent. Its job is to, obviously, decide cases, but in the course of that, check the excesses

Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX) and DNC Vice Chair Malcolm Kenyatta joined SiriusXM Urban View hosts Clay Cane and Reecie Colbert this week for a town hall discussion about the future of the Democratic Party and, in a promotional clip, she told them the party is eyeing a safe “white boy” candidate for 2028. (Snip) So far. And I think that that’s a natural fear because we just want to win. So there’s a lot of people that are like, you know what? Like, let’s go find the safest white boy we can find. I mean, I’m just saying.

Donald Trump has signed a new executive order launching what he called the “first ever self-deportation programme,” allowing undocumented immigrants to leave the United States at no cost, with flights booked via a new government-backed app.
In a video posted on Truth Social, the president said: “Today I signed an executive order to launch the first ever self-deportation program for illegal aliens. We are making it as easy as possible for illegal aliens to leave America. Any illegal alien can simply show up at an airport and receive a free flight out of our country.”

President Donald Trump has appointed Ed Martin as the head of the newly formed Justice Department Weaponization Working Group — a move that has Democrats, NeverTrumpers, and deep state operatives sweating bullets.
“Ed Martin has done an AMAZING job as interim U.S. Attorney, and will be moving to the Department of Justice as the new Director of the Weaponization Working Group, Associate Deputy Attorney General, and Pardon Attorney,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.
“In these highly important roles, Ed will make sure we finally investigate the Weaponization of our Government under the Biden Regime, and provide much needed Justice for its victims. Congratulations Ed!”

Three teenagers allegedly kidnapped a wealthy man at gunpoint and drove him to a remote Arizona desert to steal $4 million in cryptocurrency in a sinister plot. Austin Fletcher and Belal Ashraf, both 16 and from Pasco County, Florida, allegedly teamed up with a third, as-yet-unidentified teenager to target the victim, who has remained anonymous. Prosecutors said at Fletcher's probable cause hearing on Friday that the third teenager is no longer in the United States. It is not clear if authorities know where they are or if they plan to extradite them.

In George Floyd: did a police administrator commit perjury? I wrote of the probability Minneapolis Assistant Police Chief Katie Blackwell committed perjury to ensure former MPD officer Derek Chauvin’s conviction in the self-inflicted death of George Floyd. I wrote in part:
Fourteen current and former police officers with the Minneapolis Police Department (MPD) have signed sworn declarations [snip] say they believe Blackwell perjured herself when she testified in court that the restraint method Chauvin used to subdue George Floyd in May 2020 was not a part of MPD officer training. In that trial, Chauvin was found guilty of second-degree unintentional murder[snip]

Less than 48 hours after rolling out a fact-checking website designed to target "right-wing misinformation," California Governor Gavin Newsom was caught using stock footage from Ukraine and Estonia in an ad promoting his state's economy.
The ad, released initially on X and set to run on “Fox and Friends” this weekend, criticizes President Donald Trump’s tariffs while touting California's supposed economic strength.
An overly excited Newsom, however, shared it with his followers on X first. Viewers quickly pointed out that the ad, meant to show the greatness of the Golden State, contained stock footage from a pair of European countries.

The Trump administration suggested Saturday that New Jersey Democratic lawmakers involved in a clash a day earlier with authorities at a federal immigration detention center that led to the arrest of Newark Mayor Ras Baraka also could face criminal charges.
“There will likely be more arrests coming,” Department of Homeland Security spokesperson Tricia McLaughlin told CNN in an interview on Saturday.
“We actually have body camera footage of some of these members of Congress assaulting these ICE enforcement officers, including body slamming a female ICE officer,” McLaughlin said.

Yes, there is a fight right now among MAHA activists. Yes, it has to do with the announcement on May 7 2025 that “wellness influencer” and bestselling author Casey Means was replacing Dr Janette Nesheiwat as President Trump’s nominee for the office of Surgeon General. Dr Nesheiwat, it emerged, had misrepresented her medical credentials.
A post by former Vice Presidential Candidate Nicole Shanahan, without whose financial and strategic support for RFK Jr’s candidacy, neither he nor President Trump would be in power right now, has been widely circulated. Shanahan found it “strange” that a direct assurance to her from RFK Jr, in exchange for her support for his confirmation,
