80 Years After The Allies Won World War
II, U.S. Taxpayers Are Funding European Authoritarianism

May 8, 2025, marks the 80th anniversary of the Allies’ triumph over Nazi Germany and the end of World War II in Europe. Through Lend Lease and the destroyers-for-bases scheme, we had become involved in the European war much earlier than Hitler’s declaration of war on the United States on December 11, 1941. American boots on the ground proved decisive in the Western Theater, from North Africa to Italy to Normandy to Germany itself. And American industry and money proved to be an overwhelming advantage, pumping out a nearly inexhaustible supply of matériel for the Allied cause.

We feared that Europe would fall under the hammer and sickle. It appears that instead it's going to be under the moon and crescent. Europe is like a freed slave, that after a long period of freedom, goes out and finds a new, brutal master.

"our time as Europe’s piggy bank and protector must end" Especially since we are assuming massive debt, $36 trillion, to accomplish it. This amounts to foolish and unproductive efforts on all types of things being done in the world that we are footing the bill for. The rest of the world is partying, paying people not to work, supporting 4 day work weeks, paying the bills for migrants who are not working, and much more and the CHECK for all this is a significant part of the US debt, covered up in transferring things like defence spending to our shoulders. If the world wants to be stupid, they should pay their own bills. That would also cause a big wake up when their chickens come home to roost and maybe their voters would realize that there is no longer a free lunch. It's easy to be generous to others when YOU don't have to foot the bill.

Not only authoritarianism, but also socialism. Authoritarianism and socialism = Communism. Time to reverse that. Ask yourself, who else other than President Trump would be able to that?

You have not seen anything yet! Wait until they roll completely over and cheerfully submit to the demands that they become Islamist Caliphates! The question is which country will have “the honor” of becoming the first such Caliphate, many say Ireland, but maybe the U.K.? No doubt that issue will become reality within ten years or as soon as the foreign origin Islamic populations hit the boiling points, because the most important thing to Islamists is their religion, and not the allegiance to a supposedly secular President or Christian King or Queen.

One would think that Europe would take the time to pause and say "Thank You" once in a while. They are spoiled brats complaining that their allowance has been decreased. We won't hear from them until the muslim hordes are pushing them into the ocean. I hope we can say "we'll get back to you on that."

Actually, #12, a lot of individual Europeans DO thank Americans, especially in relation to WW2 actions. Certainly they do in Normandy. In the 2000s, 60 years after the war, a tiny, tiny village in Normandy, prehaps 40 people or so, funded a fine, expensive polished granite monument in their town, next to their church where two American conscientious objectors, who joined the US Army, and volunteered to be paratroop medics, converted the tiny, ancient local church into an aid station. Those two collected wounded men, American an German and brought them to the church and treated them, saving many lives. And while the control of the church area switched from American back to German, they remained, and continued to take in wounded. These heroes were recognized mostly by French people who had been born after the war. The American paratroopers came back, year after year and helped fund replacing the destroyed stained glass windows with new ones, which the people dedicated to the liberators from the sky. And you can see the bloodstains on the pews, the hole in the inner roof where a mortar round dropped in amongst the wounded.....and was a dud, tossed out still smoking with no injuries. https://www.atlasobscura.com/places/angovilleauplain-church https://www.atlasobscura.com/places/angovilleauplain-church

More on one of the paratrooper medics, Robert E. Wright. He was there when the monument was dedicated in 2002, and apparently is now buried at the church and Angoville-au-Plain. https://screamingducks.com/the-division/501st-pir/robert-e-wright/

The Marshall Plan is over. Most of the European Union we now subsidize were on the other side: France (Vichy), Norway (Quisling), Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Finland, Denmark (surrendered), Romania, Bulgaria, Ukraine (Bandera), Italy, Germany. These moochers should hang their heads in shame. Today is Victory Day in Russia, who lost 27 million dead fighting with the US and England 80 years ago.

Mayor Eric Adams planned to collect campaign donations in Turkey for his 2025 re-election bid, according to newly unsealed documents from his high-profile corruption case. The extensive filing, obtained by The Post Friday night, showed that Hizzoner attended a lavish January 2022 dinner with two staffers, where he expressed interest in visiting Turkey to solicit additional funds from local businessmen for his mayoral race. Adams “welcomed the offer of foreign contributions” — and told his staff in a private area to coordinate and “arrange the contributions,” the filing states.

The Ivy League institution in Manhattan placed more than 65 students on interim suspension and barred 33 others, including those from affiliated institutions such as Barnard College, from setting foot on campus. Interim suspension generally means that a student cannot come to campus, attend classes or participate in other university activities, according to Columbia’s website. The university declined to say how long the disciplinary measures would be in place, saying only that the decisions are pending further investigation.

Portugal’s caretaker government plans to expel some 18,000 foreigners living in the country without authorization, a minister said Saturday in the buildup to a national election. Minister of the Presidency António Leitão Amaro said the center-right government will issue approximately 18,000 notifications to people in the country illegally to leave. The minister said officials will begin next week by asking some 4,500 foreigners to leave voluntarily within 20 days. Portugal will hold an early general election on May 18. Prime Minister Luis Montenegro called the snap ballot in March after his minority government led by his conservative Social Democratic Party lost a confidence vote in Parliament and stood down.

The Trump administration scored a HUGE win on Saturday in the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals. Not only did the court grant the administration's request for a stay pending appeal in several consolidated/related cases, but it set forth the framework that district courts should be adhering to in analyzing many of the cases currently pending before them regarding the administration's actions. Since President Donald Trump resumed office in January and began issuing a series of executive orders and actions aimed at dismantling and/or sizably reducing the size of the bureaucratic state, lawsuit after lawsuit has been filed against the administration in an effort to thwart his agenda.

Now, as I prepare for college, I see antisemitism rising again in places that are supposed to be centers of learning and acceptance. According to the Anti-Defamation League, 2023 saw over 8,800 antisemitic incidents in the U.S.—

Is that the first step toward a recession, or, as Trump put it, just a result of the “Biden overhang”? First, let’s just note one big thing: The media can’t help but show its glaring bias against Trump even when it reports boring data, such as the barely negative GDP number. In case you didn’t get that quote, it was a play on the clueless remark (“Crisis? Calling the proposal “a bold blueprint that reflects the values of hardworking Americans and the commitment to American strength and prosperity,” House Speaker Mike Johnson praised Trump’s plan as ensuring that “every federal taxpayer dollar spent is used to serve the American people, not a bloated bureaucracy.”

The Catholic Church has issued a warning to its clergy in Washington state: Any priest who complies with a new law requiring the reporting of child abuse confessions to authorities will be excommunicated. The new law, which will take effect on July 27, eliminates the long-standing confidentiality of the confessional, forcing Catholic leaders and lawmakers into a highly charged standoff over religious liberty and child protection. However, the Archdiocese of Seattle and several bishops argue that the law not only contravenes church doctrine but crosses constitutional lines, while supporters maintain it is a crucial step to protect minors from abuse.
