Newsom’ s Answer To California’s Business
Exodus Is … A Free Burner Phone?

Whenever someone gets around to cataloging the most lame-brained political idea, Calif. Gov. Gavin Newsom’s decision to pass out free burner phones to CEOs in the state will forever top the list. Newsom has so far sent roughly 100 cellphones – with his direct line programmed in – to CEOs with a message that “if you ever need anything, I’m a phone call away.” “This was the governor’s idea to connect more directly with business leaders in the state,” spokesperson Izzy Gardon said.

Is Newsom for real or is he just a composite android of what people believe that the ideal Californian should be? He certainly acts like it. I wonder what he plans to do when it comes time to pay the bills?

There’s a popular debate series on YouTube called “Surrounded,” where they take a pundit of some stripe — usually an older person with some degree of renown and experience — and put them in a room full of social media savvy youngsters who all disagree with that person. One by one, they all take turns arguing with the guest. As you might imagine, a round robin debate with a bunch of peacocking college-age students is frequently the Dante-esque assault on reason you imagine it is, but it produces plenty of viral moments that can be clipped and shared on social media.

Education Secretary Linda McMahon said massive layoffs Tuesday were the “first step” toward accomplishing President Trump’s goal of eliminating the agency — and insisted the cuts won’t affect educational programs. McMahon, during an interview with Fox News host Laura Ingraham, was asked if the termination of nearly half of the department’s 4,000-person workforce was part of a broader plan aimed at a “total shutdown” of the federal agency. “Yes – actually, it is,” the 76-year-old responded. “That was the president’s mandate,” McMahon added. “His directive to me clearly is to shut down the Department of Education.”

Ontario Premier Doug Ford is now apologizing to the American people for the fallout from the ongoing trade negotiations between Canada and the United States — and calling for an end to the “chaos” to save “millions of jobs.” Ford made assurances that a trade deal would be settled between the two North American nations prior to the Apr. 2 deadline during an interview on WABC’s “Cats and Cosby” — and added a very Canadian “sorry, eh,” directed toward US citizens. “I want to apologize to the American people. I spent 20 years of my life in the US, in New Jersey, in Chicago.

The Trump administration sent the far-left into an apoplectic rage on Sunday when it was announced they had detained pro-Hamas activist Mahmoud Khalil. The Department of Homeland Security took him into custody with the intent to revoke his green card and deport him after he repeatedly expressed public support for terrorism. Khalil is originally from Syria and has been one of the leaders of the antisemitic harassment campaign taking place at Columbia University. During the summer of 2024, he helped instigate and organize a group of Hamas supporters who illegally occupied public spaces around the school, becoming one of their chief "negotiators."

bona fide opposition movement has grasped the reins in Washington. Since he was sworn in, rather than sitting atop or expanding the vast federal bureaucracy like his Republican predecessors, President Donald Trump has wielded his executive authority to cut, curb, and convert the woke and weaponized administrative state into a constrained and constitutional government. And he’s just getting started. Enter Congress. President Trump pressing the reset button on the administrative state has already done more to move America in the right direction than anything else we’ve seen in recent memory, but executive orders giveth and executive orders taketh away.

Syrian-born Palestinian activist and former Columbia University graduate student was arrested on Saturday and will reportedly have his green card revoked because of his involvement in radical left-wing protests supporting Hamas. The U.S. Department of Homeland Security announced the arrest of Mahmoud Khalil, saying Khalil “led activities aligned to Hamas, a designated terrorist organization.” According to his attorney, Khalil is a permanent resident with a green card. Federal law prohibits providing “material support or resources” to any designated terrorist organizations. Mayor Eric Adams’ corruption case should be tossed for good — without the Trump administration being able to hold it over his head — to remove any political “taint,” the lawyer who reviewed the federal case recommended Friday. The Republican lawyer, Paul Clement, wrote in a 33-page filing that Hizzoner’s case should be dismissed with prejudice — formally killing the prosecution — to swat down the idea that Adams is beholden to President Trump under the threat of his case being resurrected.

The Commonwealth of Nations, established in 1926, has 56 member states, the vast majority of which are former colonies of the British Empire. “All the world’s a stage, and the men and women merely players,” wrote William Shakespeare in “As You Like It.” It’s a simple, straightforward metaphor: In the game of life, everyone has a part to play. Furthermore, all the parts matter. Like your third-grade teacher told you (after giving you the smallest, lousiest part in the school play), “There are no small roles, only small actors. Go stand in the background and pretend to be a tree, or something.” The metaphor actually works better with political parties than in the outside world, because political parties are closed ecosystems. In partisan politics, the “players” have clearly defined roles;

Well, not quite. I used that headline for the sake of amusement, but Walz clearly does have a problem with how people perceive his masculinity, and he sure does seem to have an unnatural obsession with alphabet ideology, hanging around with young gay men, and a lot of less-than-masculine traits. During the campaign, he pranced and danced, used his "jazz hands," kicked in excitement like he were a Rockette, and was, generally speaking, quite weird. Weird enough that after Harris put him out front for much of the campaign, she decided to put him in Witness Protection toward the end. He was as appealing as Herpes to most men.
