President Trump is likely to have another phone call with Russian President Vladimir Putin this week according to Trump’s envoy Steve Witkoff. Witkoff was in Moscow Thursday for talks with President Putin and he shares how many specific details and issues were discussed. The conflict zone in Ukraine is 2,000 kilometers long, with Russian and Ukraine fire on multiple points. Despite a ceasefire on such a complicated scale, Steve Witkoff is optimistic it is possible. MARGARET BRENNAN: We go now to President Trump’s Special Envoy to the Middle East, Steve Witkoff, who joins us this morning from Miami Beach. Welcome back to “Face the nation.

Putin knows that he can not win what he wanted in Ukraine through military action since four years of butchering soldiers on the battlefield and civilians in their homes has resulted in a bloody and expensive stalemate so negotiation is the only option left, other than a nuclear suicide.

Dear Mr. Witkoff, here is an idea you can use in your peace talks: 1. Let Russia BUY all of Crimea, one-quarter of Donetsk, and one-quarter of Luhansk — at a high price based on the cost of the massive destruction Russian forces have unleashed. This will give Putin enough so he can claim victory, while Ukraine gets something in return. That's from my Peace Plan For Ukraine, published on TheThinkingConservative.com: https://www.thethinkingconservative.com/peace-plan-for-ukraine/

A 'cease fire' to rearm and ship in more soldiers and equipment for their next big push. Putin is NOT going to easily actually stop this war. Just watch. He's playing for time.

There’s a popular debate series on YouTube called “Surrounded,” where they take a pundit of some stripe — usually an older person with some degree of renown and experience — and put them in a room full of social media savvy youngsters who all disagree with that person. One by one, they all take turns arguing with the guest. As you might imagine, a round robin debate with a bunch of peacocking college-age students is frequently the Dante-esque assault on reason you imagine it is, but it produces plenty of viral moments that can be clipped and shared on social media.

Education Secretary Linda McMahon said massive layoffs Tuesday were the “first step” toward accomplishing President Trump’s goal of eliminating the agency — and insisted the cuts won’t affect educational programs. McMahon, during an interview with Fox News host Laura Ingraham, was asked if the termination of nearly half of the department’s 4,000-person workforce was part of a broader plan aimed at a “total shutdown” of the federal agency. “Yes – actually, it is,” the 76-year-old responded. “That was the president’s mandate,” McMahon added. “His directive to me clearly is to shut down the Department of Education.”

Ontario Premier Doug Ford is now apologizing to the American people for the fallout from the ongoing trade negotiations between Canada and the United States — and calling for an end to the “chaos” to save “millions of jobs.” Ford made assurances that a trade deal would be settled between the two North American nations prior to the Apr. 2 deadline during an interview on WABC’s “Cats and Cosby” — and added a very Canadian “sorry, eh,” directed toward US citizens. “I want to apologize to the American people. I spent 20 years of my life in the US, in New Jersey, in Chicago.

The Trump administration sent the far-left into an apoplectic rage on Sunday when it was announced they had detained pro-Hamas activist Mahmoud Khalil. The Department of Homeland Security took him into custody with the intent to revoke his green card and deport him after he repeatedly expressed public support for terrorism. Khalil is originally from Syria and has been one of the leaders of the antisemitic harassment campaign taking place at Columbia University. During the summer of 2024, he helped instigate and organize a group of Hamas supporters who illegally occupied public spaces around the school, becoming one of their chief "negotiators."

bona fide opposition movement has grasped the reins in Washington. Since he was sworn in, rather than sitting atop or expanding the vast federal bureaucracy like his Republican predecessors, President Donald Trump has wielded his executive authority to cut, curb, and convert the woke and weaponized administrative state into a constrained and constitutional government. And he’s just getting started. Enter Congress. President Trump pressing the reset button on the administrative state has already done more to move America in the right direction than anything else we’ve seen in recent memory, but executive orders giveth and executive orders taketh away.

Syrian-born Palestinian activist and former Columbia University graduate student was arrested on Saturday and will reportedly have his green card revoked because of his involvement in radical left-wing protests supporting Hamas. The U.S. Department of Homeland Security announced the arrest of Mahmoud Khalil, saying Khalil “led activities aligned to Hamas, a designated terrorist organization.” According to his attorney, Khalil is a permanent resident with a green card. Federal law prohibits providing “material support or resources” to any designated terrorist organizations. President Donald Trump said his administration would not tolerate any “pro-terrorist” behavior in a Truth Social post.

Mayor Eric Adams’ corruption case should be tossed for good — without the Trump administration being able to hold it over his head — to remove any political “taint,” the lawyer who reviewed the federal case recommended Friday. The Republican lawyer, Paul Clement, wrote in a 33-page filing that Hizzoner’s case should be dismissed with prejudice — formally killing the prosecution — to swat down the idea that Adams is beholden to President Trump under the threat of his case being resurrected.

The former lead prosecutor on Mayor Eric Adams’ federal corruption case admitted in private text messages that it was “plausible” that the former Manhattan US attorney who indicted Hizzoner had a “political motive,” the Justice Department revealed in a bombshell filing Friday. Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche and Principal Deputy Attorney General Emil Bove cited the text messages from “AUSA-1” – Hagan Scotten – in a filing with Manhattan federal court Judge Dale Ho in arguing that the case against Adams should be dismissed, but with the door left open to future prosecution. “[US Attorney-1] obviously has political ambitions, and I think suggesting we doubt that just costs us credibility,”

These small businesses create 64 percent of new jobs. Small businesses are the major drivers of job growth;

The best thing to come out of President Trump’s joint address to Congress this week is, God willing, a total abandonment of the facade that “bipartisanship” is a worthy goal in itself. For 100 minutes, Trump relentlessly, unapologetically championed and promoted his agenda, both what’s been done in just 42 days and what’s still to come. That’s fairly normal of a president, but there were three very special moments that I’ll forever hold dear in my heart when Trump aggressively confronted his political opponents on some very sensitive subjects,

Sacré bleu! Talk about a Napoleon complex. Some stories don’t require a lengthy set-up. They speak for themselves (and today, they’re parlez-vous-ing exclusively in French): France should take back the Statue of Liberty because the US no longer represents the values that led France to offer the statue, a French Euro-deputy said Sunday. "Give us back the Statue of Liberty", centre-left politician Raphael Glucksmann said at a convention of his Place Publique centre-left movement. "We're going to say to the Americans who have chosen to side with the tyrants, to the Americans who fired researchers for demanding scientific freedom: 'Give us back the Statue of Liberty,'" he told cheering supporters.

"This decision comes after Hamas repeatedly refused to release our hostages and rejected all proposals presented by U.S. President’s envoy, Steve Witkoff, as well as the mediators," the letter states.
