Three cheers for Jeff Bezos, fighting
to save The Washington Post from itself

Jeff Bezos is one of the world’s most successful entrepreneurs — but making his Washington Post staffers face reality may be his toughest-ever career challenge. A long time ago in a media galaxy that now seems far, far away, the Post was one of the most respected newspapers in the country, capturing 68 Pulitzers in the process. But in recent years, especially since Donald Trump’s first presidential run, the paper’s shift from left-of-center to hard-left extremism has become obvious and overt. The paper has never endorsed a Republican presidential candidate in its history — boosting the likes of Jimmy Carter (twice!)

Yah, yah, hooray for Bezos. It's like someone who say tsunami warnings and decided that today was not a good day to go to the beach. Here's the reality. Liberal publications have been allowed to become infested with fanatics. As noted in the article, fanatics are completely intolerent to opposing points of view. Remeber the total destruction in cities in 2020? That is what fanatics do, burn things to the ground. Period. So, Bezos wants his collection of fanatics to make nice with some Conservatives he plans to import. First, who would want to work in such a hate filled environment? There is absolutely no way that Conservative workers would not be under constant attack. In most places it would be considered HARRASSMENT. In bastions of liberalism it is considered common sense to full out attack Conservatives in any manner possible. Let's say Bezos gets a Conservative to live in a meat grinder. Then, EVERYTHING the Conservative does will be attacked. he fanatics would consider it their duty to assault them in any way possible. Consider what happened during Trump's speech, the depths of infantilism reached by dem Congressmen. And those folks were on camera. What might happen in the shadows of the WaaPoo newsroom? The reality is, Bezos would have to fire all his current staff and rebuild with one Conservative and one liberal, and crystal clear marching orders to play nice or be fired, to even have a chance of success. And given the overall insanity of the Left I don't think he could succeed. The Left cannot help themselves. Their hatred is all consuming. When you think about it, this is very similar to Trump's two terms. In his first term, he thought he could work with the dems. Heck, he'd worked with lots of contentious people in his business career. We KNOW how that worked out. In his second term, Trump is driving a bulldozer through the dems. He KNOWS you cannot work with them. You can only clear them out or push them aside. He is simultaneously attacking them from all sides and he is succeeding. THAT is the fight Bezos is facing even though he doesn't realize it yet.

Well done, #1!! Excellent summary of the reality. The only point I might add is: adding a token conservative voice seems to be more of a business decision than a personal conviction. It Jeff B had had a political conversion earlier, he might have considered the approach you outlined in your 5th paragraph. Now, it looks like a bandaid after open heart surgery. Oh well. (And think about the faux journalists, Woodward and Bernstein, created by the Compost. That says it all.)

Bezos has a huge problem trying to right the ship - while its at sea. Every single school of journalism, and for that matter college faculty, is near-100 percent leftist to the core. My own relatively conservative alma mater, Texas A&M, shuttered its journalism school long ago. How could anyone leave our educational system and not have been 'schooled' or indoctrinated with liberal/Marxist beliefs? Yes, we have conservative voices out there but while they certainly know how to act as 'influencers' in the video blog environment, they don't know the ins and outs of investigative journalism. Still, I welcome Bezos' trying to steer his paper rightward.

Sorry, I'd much rather kill the CommiePost and have someone start a new 'paper', if they even publish an actual physical paper version any more.

California Gov. Gavin Newsom refuses to protect women’s sports just days after he claimed it was “unfair” for men to play in women’s sports. In a podcast featuring Turning Point founder Charlie Kirk, Newsom said men in women’s sports are “unfair” but did not answer Kirk’s question as to whether men should be prohibited. Newsom then suggested that there needs to be a way to balance fairness with the mental health of these young men, otherwise they might “commit suicide.” “There’s also a humility and a grace. You know that these poor people are more likely to commit suicide,

Iran has also been installing more advanced centrifuges, increasing its capacity to enrich uranium faster than ever. The Iranian regime appears to believe that nuclear weapons will give it leverage to silence opposition at home and deter any foreign intervention that could threaten its rule. A nuclear-armed Iran poses an existential threat not only to the "Little Satan," Israel, and the "Great Satan," the US, but to all the oil-rich Gulf countries in the Middle East. The task is not just about protecting Israel, Europe and the US; it is about preventing.... the mother of all arms-races throughout the Middle East.

It’s good to be king — or a district judge. Judge Amir Ali has no power to appropriate money or spend it. Neither does he have any authority over the conduct of US foreign policy. Ali is not letting that stop him in his escalating conflict with the Trump administration over USAID spending, though. The judge won a modified victory in the Supreme Court, which opted not to stop him from trying to force the Trump administration to spend money that it has currently paused. In a dissent expressing shock and dismay that the court is letting Ali proceed on his current course,

[Barnard's] radical "studies" departments are propaganda mills that teach students what to think rather than how to think. Consider, for example, the "Women's Gender and Sexuality Studies Department". Its website calls for students to "smash the white supremacist hetero-patriarchy." In other words, this women's studies department has little to do with scholarship, teaching or learning. It has everything to do with advocacy. That is true of many other specialized studies departments at Barnard. Signs at these protests call for "war" and "intifada".

As a lifelong Democrat, I never imagined I would watch my own party embarrass itself so thoroughly — and so publicly — as it did during Tuesday’s joint session of Congress. From obnoxious booing to childish protest signs to a sitting member of Congress having to be physically removed from the chamber, Democrats turned what should have been a solemn, dignified event into a bad reality show. And for what? To go viral on TikTok? To book a slot on MSNBC to brag about their “resistance”? Nothing was more disgraceful than when my colleagues refused to stand or clap when 13-year-old DJ Daniel, a brain-cancer survivor, was made an honorary Secret Service agent.

Get ready to be bombarded with ghoulish ads warning about grandmothers dying and children denied needed cancer treatments “just to make billionaires like Elon Musk even richer.” The ads, paid for by a Democratic PAC, started running Monday. And Monday night Democrats attending President Donald Trump’s speech to Congress held up paddles with the message “Save Medicaid.” It’s demagoguery in full swing to combat Republican efforts to control federal spending on Medicaid and stabilize the nation’s debt. Gov. Kathy Hochul is claiming, “House Republicans just voted to rip health care away from up to 1.8 million New Yorkers — all to bankroll giveaways for billionaires.”

The shutdown clock is ticking on Capitol Hill as lawmakers look to fund the government by the looming March 14 deadline, an effort that thus far has been unsuccessful as the two parties trade blame over who is responsible for the delay. “We are working hard to do our responsibility to keep the government open,” Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) said on NBC’s “Meet the Press” on Sunday. The scramble to keep the lights on in Washington — which is expected to pick up in urgency this week — comes as President Trump is set to deliver his first major speech before Congress,

An “Appeal to Congress” from five former secretaries of defense warns that Donald Trump is firing flag officers, which is unprecedented and an assault on American political norms. This letter is an appalling package of dangerous claims and dumber than a box of rocks. But let’s take a helpful detour before we get into the details. An essay Thursday from a professor at the U.S. Naval War College makes a similar argument and perfectly represents the moment: Here’s the core of the argument, and if you read it carefully you’ll notice an interesting concession right at the center:

On Tuesday night, President Donald Trump will deliver an unofficial “State of the Union” address to the United States Congress and the American people. It will be his first major speech since the start of his second presidential term. In his last “State of the Union” speech, on February 4, 2020, then-House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) was so enraged that she tore up his written remarks. This act of defiance was highly inappropriate and unprecedented. Republican House Speakers never acted in such a manner. Pelosi’s temper tantrum typifies how Democrats respond to President Trump. Instead of working with Trump to benefit all Americans, they engage in disgraceful outbursts of anger.
