The Israeli Navy carried out a significant operation on Monday night, targeting and destroying much of the Syrian regime’s naval fleet. Missile ships struck numerous vessels armed with anti-ship missiles at the Al-Baida and Latakia ports, aiming to prevent these weapons from falling into the hands of hostile entities such as the salafist rebels who have taken over Syria. At the same time, reports from Reuters and Hezbollah-affiliated Lebanese network Al-Mayadeen indicated that IDF units crossed the buffer zone and advanced deep into Syrian territory, a claim the IDF denied. According to regional and Syrian security sources, Israeli forces are now positioned approximately 15.5 miles from Damascus

The Israeli Air Force carried out over 300 strikes in Syria in the early hours of Tuesday morning, according to Israeli security sources.
Some 70%-80% of the capabilities of former Syrian president Bashar al-Assad's military have been destroyed.
Most of the strikes were in southern Syria and around the city of Damascus, targeting Syrian army bases, with an emphasis on air defense systems and stores of surface-to-surface and surface-to-air missiles. Israeli security sources indicate that these actions have significantly expanded the air force's operational freedom.
Additionally, there have been attempts by Hezbollah to seize Syrian weaponry.
On Monday evening, two Syrian security sources told Reuters that IAF jets

FBI Director Christopher Wray plans to resign on or before Inauguration Day, according to recent reports. The move, widely seen as preemptive, reflects growing pressure from Republican lawmakers, led by Senator Charles Grassley, and signals yet another shift in leadership for an agency that has been at the center of political and institutional controversies over the past several years.
While Wray’s resignation isn’t entirely unexpected, it raises important questions about the future of the FBI, the challenges it faces, and the public’s trust in one of the nation’s most powerful institutions. This moment offers an opportunity to reflect on Wray’s tenure,

Making fun of Pravda media "fact checks" is, perhaps, a little too easy at times.
But doing so is a good reminder of just how distorted their worldview is. Without being reminded, we might fall into the bad habit of taking these people more seriously than they deserve. The Politifact "fact check" on conservative complaints (I'm pretty sure that the complaints are more "common sense" than conservative) that aid to Africa has nothing to do with aid to North Carolina is a perfect example of how the government hypnotized think.

Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff has a reputation as a progressive, San Francisco billionaire one that he has earned by being pretty reliably left-wing on social issues. So some people are surprised by how positive he has been about the incoming Trump administration. For instance: There are other signs that, like the rest of the country, Benioff is moving right:
Amid dozens of posts about Salesforce’s new Agentforce platform, Benioff has positioned himself and his interests within the MAGA orbit, praising President-elect Donald Trump’s associates like Musk and Marc Andreessen, and touting Lex Fridman’s interview with Argentinian president Javier Milei

At the time, he was still considered a person of interest in the case. "He matches the description of the identification we've been looking for, he's also in possession of several items that we believe will connect him to this incident,"

The suspect in UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson’s slaying was reported missing by his family last month after losing touch with them following a recent back surgery, according to sources and reports.
Luigi Mangione, 26, was captured in Altoona, Pennsylvania, on Monday after he was spotted eating at a McDonald’s by an employee of the fast food restaurant who believed he resembled the gunman wanted over last week’s brazen shooting outside a Manhattan hotel.
Mangione — an Ivy League graduate from a prominent Maryland real estate family — was found carrying a ghost gun, masks and rambling writings linking him to the ambush, authorities said.

The Hezbollah-affiliated Al-Mayadeen news outlet reports that Israeli tanks have advanced beyond the boundaries of the Golan Heights buffer zone in Syria that it moved troops into earlier this week.
According to the unverified report from the Lebanese outlet, the tanks progressed past the abandoned buffer zone town of Qunaitra before stopping near Qatana, a southern Syria city just over 21 kilometers away from the capital city of Damascus.
The report further that Israeli troops also entered several villages on the outskirts of Damascus.

The person being questioned was at a McDonald’s, where customers thought he looked suspicious and called police, three law enforcement sources said.
He was found to have a fake New Jersey ID, a gun similar to the one used to kill Thompson and a silencer, two senior law enforcement sources said.

President-elect Donald Trump suggested Sunday on NBC’s “Meet the Press” that President Joe Biden should pardon Democrats and members on the partisan January 6 Committee, such as Liz Cheney, Adam Kinzinger, Bennie Thompson (D-MS), and Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA).
Democrats and media allies urged Biden in previous weeks to pardon a number of his allies including those who sat on the partisan January 6 committee.
Members of the committee stand accused of deleting over 100 files before Republicans took control of the House in 2022, an act Trump says is illegal.
