A student at Grand Valley State University in Allendale, Michigan, recently filed a Freedom of Information Act request. He was trying to get access to documents related to an ongoing investigation at the school that he's involved in. Instead of those documents, he was hit with a $84,000 bill. To get the records, he’ll have to pay up. Carrie Uthe, the student’s mother, spoke to reporters on her son’s behalf. They believe the school is using the bill to prevent her son from accessing the records. “I feel like we’re fighting the school that’s fighting us ... and it’s just not fair,” Uthe told 13 On Your Side reporters.

That's a pretty snarky response and I suspect the mother's justified in calling it out. OTOH, she offers no detail on what her son's looking for other than "documents related to an ongoing investigation at the school that he's involved in". Sounds pretty broad for $84,000. Can it be narrowed?

I'll bet the fee for a leftist FOIA request averages under $25. And they're all "very broad." My estimate guess may be on the high end, though.

I won’t bother discussing the nonsense currently being trafficked by the media except to note that comparing Republican presidential candidates to Hitler is a playbook older than Joe Biden. Back in 2016, I picked out some select moments from “Every Republican is Hitler” history: “If the British had not fought in 1940, Hitler would have been in London and if Democrats do not fight in 1968, Nixon will be in the White House.” Vice President Hubert Humphrey. Chicago Mayor Daley accused Nixon of “Hitler-type” tactics. “Goldwater’s acceptance speech had the stench of fascism. All we needed to hear was Heil Hitler.” Governor Pat Brown of California

Taxpayers, not an insurance agency, will pay for the city of Akron's $4.85 million settlement to Jayland Walker's family for Walker's police-involved shooting death, Akron Mayor Shammas Malik. The city is not insured, so the settlement will come in a series of four payments over four years, he said. "I imagine that this is something that would have strong feelings, across the board," Malik said of settlement details. "This was something that was done to protect the city's financial interests and to settle the claim." The lawsuit, filed by Walker's family, initially sought $1 million for each bullet that struck Walker.

Two pro-life Wisconsin college students insist they were doing "God's work" by going into the lion's den and shouting pro-life, Christian messages at Vice President Harris during a rally. [SNIP] "We got a lot of backlash," Grant Beth, a University of Wisconsin-La Crosse junior, told Fox News on Sunday. "I was pushed by an elderly woman. We were heckled at, we were cursed at, we were mocked, and that's the biggest thing for me personally. In reflection of the event, Jesus was mocked. You know, his disciples were mocked, and that's okay. In reality, we did God's work, and we were there for the right reasons.

Oct 7 marked the grim anniversary of the worst massacre of Jews since Holocaust. The terrorist perpetrators of it however could celebrate the over $1 billion in foreign aid from the U.S. 46 Americans had been murdered on Oct 7 and another 12 taken hostage, but ahead of the Oct 7 anniversary, USAID announced that it was sending another $336 million in taxpayer-funded ‘aid’ to the terrorist occupied territories in Israel behind the killings of Americans. USAID boasted that this “brings the total U.S. humanitarian assistance announced for the Palestinian people to more than $1 billion since October 2023.” The terrorists had murdered over 1,000 people and gotten over $1 billion.

The body of Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar could be used as a “bargaining chip” to secure the release of hostages from Gaza captivity, Israeli sources told CNN on Saturday. Sinwar, who masterminded Hamas’s October 7 attacks, was eliminated by the IDF on Wednesday, and his body is currently being held at an undisclosed location. The terror leader, who was responsible for the massacre of over 1200 people and the abduction of over 250, may be the key to securing the return of hostages, two sources told CNN. Israeli authorities are reportedly discussing how to leverage Sinwar’s remains.

At least 10,000 soldiers from the Pyongyang regime are understood to be taking part in manoeuvres before an expected deployment in regions close to the Ukrainian border. The Kremlin is said to have paid North Korea to send personnel to the front in a deal struck on president Vladimir Putin's state visit to Kim Jong Un. North Korea, like Iran, is also reported to be supplying weaponry and ammunition.

It was 1967. America was two years away from landing on the moon and Chinese Communists were eating people. The Communists hadn’t turned cannibal because of hunger, but politics. Mao’s cultural revolution had already led to brutal lynchings of teachers and principals by the Red Guards unleashed by the Communist regime to purge all ideological deviation, but beating political opponents to death wasn’t enough for the radical mobs in the Guangxi region. By the end of the cultural revolution, as many as 20,000 Communists had eaten human flesh.

Hamas planned a full-scale invasion of Israel on a much larger scale than the October 7 terror attacks, according to Israeli security officials. A chilling 36-page document produced by the terror group reveals detailed plans to strike Israel by land, sea and air, and bomb three of Israel's tallest skyscrapers in a 9/11-style attack that would 'create an unprecedented crisis for the enemy, similar to the World Trade Center crisis in New York'. The blueprint, obtained by The Mail on Sunday, details how Hamas intended to mobilise the Palestinian population to attack Israel to bring 'victory, beating fear into the hearts of our enemies'.

An Afghan refugee in Oklahoma City was just caught plotting an Election Day jihad massacre. The Justice Department announced this on Tuesday, and there was no reason to doubt it. After all, Afghanistan is a hotbed of jihad. The accused perpetrator, Nasir Ahmad Tawhedi, got into the United States on a Special Immigrant Visa (SIV), which is only issued to people who aided American forces while they were in that country, so he might have been assumed not to be a jihadi. Still, he could have been practicing Muhammad’s dictum “War is deceit.” [SNIP] He worked for the CIA, which casts doubt upon every other aspect of this story.
