Akron mayor: Taxpayers to foot $4.85 million
settlement to Jayland Walker's family

Taxpayers, not an insurance agency, will pay for the city of Akron's $4.85 million settlement to Jayland Walker's family for Walker's police-involved shooting death, Akron Mayor Shammas Malik. The city is not insured, so the settlement will come in a series of four payments over four years, he said. "I imagine that this is something that would have strong feelings, across the board," Malik said of settlement details. "This was something that was done to protect the city's financial interests and to settle the claim." The lawsuit, filed by Walker's family, initially sought $1 million for each bullet that struck Walker.

Comments:

Remember this shooting? A depressed African-American youth committed suicide by cop, but his family blamed the police. There were riots in the city. And now the family is being rewarded with a nearly $5 million payout.

Strike all laws off the books. Disband police departments. Justice goes vigilante. If the community thinks somebody is a criminal they'll kill him. If the community thinks somebody is a nuisance they'll possibly suggest he moves elsewhere. There, doesn't that sound better?

So the family wanted $46,000,000 but Akron dodged many, many bullets with this settlement. The Walkers will burn right through their new riches and we're back to square one.

The lawyers will take half in fees and "expenses." The rest will go fairly quickly. Many years ago, I spent some time working in an area where a tragic school bus accident killed and injured a nimber of children. Without getting into the details, families of the killed got large settlements, those injured lesser amounts. Families and long friendships were broken over who got what in money. When injured kids reached legal age, some wasted the money quickly including at least one who spent money on a fast sports car which became his fatal tomb when he wrapped it at high speed around a tree. I hope the family will avoid this fate. But the smart money says it won't happen.

Hilarious. Akron, a 57% white city has a black mayor and majority black city council who decide to tap those white taxpayers for a few million bucks to pay off a rapacious black mob. I'm sure that will guarantee improved city services, better roads, more effective law enforcement and everything else that a city government is supposed to do. Or maybe not. Message to white Akronites: Move.

Awarded with the stipulation that every penny reverts back to the city - Boys Club, traffic safety, summer camp for kids, funds for Fourth of July parade, park and outdoor space development, reading programs at the library. Settlement in principal only with admission of wrongdoing.

A student at Grand Valley State University in Allendale, Michigan, recently filed a Freedom of Information Act request. He was trying to get access to documents related to an ongoing investigation at the school that he's involved in. Instead of those documents, he was hit with a $84,000 bill. To get the records, he’ll have to pay up. Carrie Uthe, the student’s mother, spoke to reporters on her son’s behalf. They believe the school is using the bill to prevent her son from accessing the records. “I feel like we’re fighting the school that’s fighting us ... and it’s just not fair,” Uthe told 13 On Your Side reporters.

The terrorist perpetrators of it however could celebrate the over $1 billion in foreign aid from the U.S. 46 Americans had been murdered on Oct 7 and another 12 taken hostage, but ahead of the Oct 7 anniversary, USAID announced that it was sending another $336 million in taxpayer-funded ‘aid’ to the terrorist occupied territories in Israel behind the killings of Americans. The body of Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar could be used as a “bargaining chip” to secure the release of hostages from Gaza captivity, Israeli sources told CNN on Saturday. Sinwar, who masterminded Hamas’s October 7 attacks, was eliminated by the IDF on Wednesday, and his body is currently being held at an undisclosed location. The terror leader, who was responsible for the massacre of over 1200 people and the abduction of over 250, may be the key to securing the return of hostages, two sources told CNN. Israeli authorities are reportedly discussing how to leverage Sinwar’s remains.

Hamas planned a full-scale invasion of Israel on a much larger scale than the October 7 terror attacks, according to Israeli security officials. A chilling 36-page document produced by the terror group reveals detailed plans to strike Israel by land, sea and air, and bomb three of Israel's tallest skyscrapers in a 9/11-style attack that would 'create an unprecedented crisis for the enemy, similar to the World Trade Center crisis in New York'. The blueprint, obtained by The Mail on Sunday, details how Hamas intended to mobilise the Palestinian population to attack Israel to bring 'victory, beating fear into the hearts of our enemies'.

An Afghan refugee in Oklahoma City was just caught plotting an Election Day jihad massacre. The Justice Department announced this on Tuesday, and there was no reason to doubt it. After all, Afghanistan is a hotbed of jihad. The accused perpetrator, Nasir Ahmad Tawhedi, got into the United States on a Special Immigrant Visa (SIV), which is only issued to people who aided American forces while they were in that country, so he might have been assumed not to be a jihadi. Still, he could have been practicing Muhammad’s dictum “War is deceit.” [SNIP] He worked for the CIA, which casts doubt upon every other aspect of this story.
