The Corporate Transparency Act (CTA) is an aggressive domestic program to federally register millions of unsuspecting small business owners under the guise of an “anti-money laundering initiative.”
By the end of this year, Americans will be required to hand over their small businesses’ private data — such as owners’ names and home addresses — to the federal government’s law enforcement database, operated by the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN), housed under the Department of the Treasury. Such small businesses include limited liability companies, corporations, “and any other entities created by the filing of a document with a secretary of state or any similar office in the United States.”

And where does the federal government get the authority to require this? (Interstate commerce clause, right Nancy?)

Lawyers & Accountants and including CPAs just roll over on this stuff. Just another oppty to bill the businessman for some busywork from the Feds, or the States, or the Cities, or the Counties (Like Obamacare, like Genders, like Carbon calculations...). No value added, just more $ to do compliance of bull-hockey rules made up at the stroke of a pen by lawyers that permeate US Congress, or State Legislatures & Executive Branches, and Counties, and Cities. Would take 5 years and $10 million to sue in courts to validate the 4A and 5A are being violated here - powers NOT granted to Government by Constitution, but SCOTUS has pursued bull-hockey pointy-head rulings that infringe on ALL of what the Founders created to protect citizens.

The CPA society is out of NY mostly and the NE in general. While mostly conservative outside of the NE and the West Coast, there is little opposition. Note that Trump vetoed and was over-ridden. Probably because of the corruption everyone was seeing from Pelosi and the Biden's Ukraine corruption/bribery using these small entities to launder money.
I am waiting to see if the courts overrule this privacy invasion. Most small biz owners I know are doing the same. No filings are done yet.

This qualifies as "transparency" a lot like a fishbowl does. A more accurate name might be "oppression".

This is how they kill small business REGULATIONS. Obama did nothing to prevent the bad slump in his first years. The specter of the great Obama "Affordable (huge joke) Health care Act" and the "Employer Mandate" aspect hanging over every business for almost two years. What an employer had to pay was based on number of people they employed. Everyone shut down hiring. No one wanted to invest in their own companies because they were uncertain of what would hit them in the back end. They were very lean years. My husband's company would not have survived except that the owners dug into their own pockets and kept it afloat. They needed to replace equipment and did not want bank loans added to the burdens. When Trump was elected...officially, they went to the bank got the loans and were able to give the employees bonuses for the first time since 2008, to those who remained loyal through the hard times. Under Trump and his deregulation's the business took off and they went from a business of 5 outlets in Illinois to having 19 offices nationwide.
This ACT will do in all of the cash businesses. Like salons, food trucks, etc. they will not escape the eye of one of those 87,000 new hires. If they want to confiscate everything in their bank accounts they can and will. Then the business owner has to prove they are not laundering money. There have already been cases where the IRS took a million dollars and had it for years. The business was exonerated eventually on the laundering charge but the money was not returned. The IRS offered something like $300K to "settle." The government will squash you if they want to and NOTHING can be done about it.

Where are the 'Republicans' that will protect us from the abuses of our ruling class (government).
With the exception of a handful of real conservatives ( maybe 10) they have joined the Democrats.

When are we going to get a government transparency act that will disclose the names and actions of all the government bureaucrats, instead of all the smudge outs, non-responses to FOIAl, and no answer to any questions from Congress?
