Society’s Gordian Knots

Original Article

When Alexander the Great invaded Phrygia, in 334 BC, he is said to have encountered the legendary Gordian Knot. It was a tightly knit tangle of rope, so convoluted that none could untie it. The legend has it that whoever could untie the knot would be the rightful ruler, because that man would possess great wisdom. Alexander could have conquered Phrygia by armed might, but he chose instead to attempt to untie the knot. He quickly, however, discerned that he could not do so, and whether in a fit of rage, or perhaps by thoughtful plan

Comments:

The University of Florida made it very clear that there could be protests but no violence against any person, no takeovers of buildings. If it happened they would be quickly arrested an maximum charges filed and not dropped.
Poof! no demonstrators.
Common senses is so uncommon these days as to appear to be a superpower.

All these 'Demonstrations' popping up 'all by themselves' all over the country? No, this is planned and coordinated by the usual Evil ones (Soros & his ilk) hiring the usual bunch of Antifa-minded Rent-a-Thugs. In several instances, a good portion of the violent 'protesters' have been shown to be NOT students. I believe those are the core groups. Add in the Islamists who should never have been allowed into our country. Then there is a fraction of the student body -ill informed and not very bright- who are persuaded and go along with them. Add in the Lamestreams who are -and have been since the mid-1960's- all on the side of destroying America and who have orgasms making and showing videos of people fighting and especially criticizing the slightest mis-step by the police. Running the universities in many places are ex-Vietnam War draft dodgers and 'anti-war' protesters, people 'educated' far beyond their intelligence, or people who do not have enough backbone to stand up to the violent people on campus. It is clear which universities have leadership with backbone and which ones have do not. Regarding the 'Gordian Knot', the most pressing one facing America right now is runaway Federal spending. As Lenin said 100 years ago, "The surest way to attack the Capitalist State is to debauch the currency." and that is exactly what the Congress and the Biden clown-car administration is doing, aided by the Lamestreams. Watch how the Lamestreams demonize ANYIONE who acts not to actually CUT spending, but just acts to REDUCE THE RATE OF INCREASE in Federal spending. When so many people believe they individually benefit from stealing from the common wealth of the country, and they have the Media urging them on, it is a hard thing to stop.

New research discovers that wind turbines

Is there a better example of putting the cart before the horse than “green” energy boondoggles of the left? The answer is a resounding no. Force conversions to electric vehicles without putting the proper and sufficient charging infrastructure in place? Check. Manufacture millions (billions?) of solar panels with no disposal plan in place? Check. Build countless offshore wind “farms” without conducting studies to determine the impacts? Check. [snip] Downstream turbulence from offshore wind turbines can reduce power generation at nearby turbines, substantially reducing the total potential from planned U.S. offshore wind projects, according to recent research from the Colorado University Boulder and National Energy Technology Laboratory.

A report from Colorado Newsline indicates the Democrat sponsor of Colorado’s “assault weapons” ban legislation plans to kill her own bill. According to the report, State Sen. Julie Gonzales (D) said she plans to ask for the bill to be removed from consideration on Tuesday during a committee hearing. Colorado’s legislative session ends Wednesday, and it appears Gonzales does not believe that that provides the time needed to work on the bill. She said, “After thoughtful conversations with my Senate colleagues, I decided that more conversations need to take place outside of the pressure cooker of the Capitol during the last weeks of the legislative session.”

As the November elections loom just six months away, I recently conducted a search for the past six months for a phrase often used: “Mushy Moderate Middle.” This phrase is intended to encapsulate the segment of the electorate often described as “low-information voters,” those whose voting decisions are guided by factors starkly different from the ideological deliberations that influence committed liberals or conservatives. Surprisingly, my search returned zero results. [snip] The “Mushy Moderate Middle” arguably represents a significant portion of the American electorate that doesn’t engage deeply with polarizing issues

The Alabama Supreme Court has authorized the execution of a death row inmate who previously survived after being given a lethal injection. The convict, Alan Eugene Miller, will now receive execution by nitrogen gas, the Washington Examiner reported. Alabama’s high court authorized the method in a decision Thursday. Republican Gov. Kay Ivey has not set the date for Miller’s execution. Once it’s carried out, Miller will become the second death row inmate to die by nitrogen gas in the state. However, the method has become controversial among liberal death penalty opponents. After being convicted of killing three men during a 1999 workplace shooting, Miller was set to die by lethal injection.

As campus protests turned violent, necessitating police operations to clear illegal encampments, the true agenda of the activists became apparent. Initially, the demonstrations were presented as saving innocent lives in Gaza with a cease-fire and humanitarian aid. Within this demand lurked the desire to save the Hamas terrorist group from defeat; a group that was using civilians as human shields. They charged that Israel was conducting “genocide” in Gaza with its offensive to clear out the thugs who had purposely massacred civilians in Israel on October 7, 2023. However, the genocide issue quickly shifted as the campus radicals openly embraced the Hamas objective of destroying Israel

The cars are more expensive to operate than their gas-guzzling cousins. [snip] But things keep getting worse for the EV market. Because EVs require batteries. And those factories need power. Less like a Fifth Column and more like a Third Reich, the Nouveau Nazis on and about college campuses (and elsewhere) need no new theories to explain their behaviors. Today’s Hamas-supporting Sturmabteinlung- and Schutzstaffel- wannabes are deaf to facts, but have preternatural hearing for propaganda and lies. Some wonder why the supposed “best and brightest” and their mentors/teachers/profs have pudding for brains. The product of affirmative action, academic administrative torpor, DEI, and grade inflation, these presumed smarties behave exactly as Jacques Ellul described years ago. Paul Ryan must be very confused about what makes a person’s “character” good or bad; according to a new report, the former congressman will not be voting for Donald Trump, because “character is too important” and therefore, he can’t get behind a guy like Trump. Apparently, Ryan intends to write in another Republican candidate, which is obviously a throw away vote and therefore, one less vote against Joe Biden. Funny, because Ryan and all the other RINOs never say a word about Biden’s character, nor are they that critical of his policies. The goal with Ryan and others is to destroy Trump.
