I am in New York again, and I am sending you this postcard from a city I love and have loved; from a broken city. Broken; yet struggling to reimagine itself, as it has so many times before.
Are we better? Are we lost? Are we changed, changed utterly?
Here are some images, some moments, for you. [SNIP] I took away from that time in prayer, an understanding or a sense (impossible to explain how prayer works; who knows how these insights emerge in our minds?) that we really are now walking through “the time of Satan.”

Hey Naomi, send your thanks to Joey Baby, he's the reason NYC and other metropolitan cities in America have become the third world. If you allow millions and millions of "illegals" to cross a country's borders w/o regard to the citizens of America you get a mess of uncultured individuals who can not or will not assimilate. Thank the Democrats for this. BTW, you all voted for this, so enjoy what you sowed.

Naomi, between you and Elizabeth Nickson I see more clearly. Thanks for the misery.
There's no way out but through.
Now to find the path...

It not happening only to New York City. This is occurring all over in major metro areas. During the pandemic in the SF Bay Area I watched the devolution of society in real time in my neighborhood. During the worst of the lockdown, which to the pride of my government leaders lasted longer in my county than in almost any other in California, all evidence of children completely disappeared. The playgrounds were blocked off and it was socially unacceptable to have children out in public even in your front yard, unless you were getting into a car. Zoom school was a terrible experiment and unsuccessful for most. When parents slowly returned to work but the schools were still shut down, who was left to watch the children? Around 2021 I began to hear about roaming gangs of older kids and young teenagers all on bikes, terrorizing different neighborhoods simultaneously. Police would be called but were reluctant to come out - all the kids’ crimes were, at best (or worst), misdemeanors. I moved about that time but I think now … those kids would be about driving age now. Nothing stopped them when they were younger - how would they feel about obeying laws now? How safe will other people be around them? Would anyone care?
I moved away to a small, quiet, rural community with a very high religious participation. It’s a different world from what I left. I am afraid it is only a matter of time before the rot in society creeps here too.

The consequences of democrats/globalists running things is manifesting in a huge way. All of our culture has been grossly impacted by their Godlessness. Remember, they only know how to kill, steal, and destroy, like their father the devil. No one has ever said the one world government would be stable; all views on it is chaos, murder, mayhem, and destruction. The globalist world will continue, by force, to spread until they tear up the whole world; the fools will wrap this thing up. Be ready. It's coming.

Yet they are so thrilled that Rudy Gulliani, who brought the City back from the abyss last time, has been bankrupted for his efforts.

I grew up across the river from Manhattan occasionally venturing into New York City when it absolutely could not be avoided
NYC has been swirling clock-wise for decades. It isnow, finally, circling the drain.

My son lived in Harlem, worked on 5th avenue for ten years...in 2020 moved to Nashville with one of his(born/raised in Harlem) roomates.
For less than the cost of their Harlem apt they were able to lease a 3bdroom house on nearly an acre, with a swimming pool, both bought cars for the first time as adults, just the "Quiet" of suburbia took some acclimatization, no traffic noise, no voices at all hours, no rattling elevators, no "vibrations" constantly, and un-noticed because they were soooo ubiquitous , no "Smells"....greenery EVERYWHERE, instead of concrete and brick.
One of the things I mentioned to him when I visited him in NYC(as I was there on Business) was that "The air tastes like it has already been breathed several times"...after a couple of months in Nashville he texted me one day and said "I finally get what you were saying about the Air"...He drives with his windows down now, and can tell where he is around town by the scent of the trees and foliage, not anything man made. He also has discovered that he no longer locks his car or home, the pervading self protective fear that infected everyone...un noticed....has dropped away.
Even his walk has changed, no more hunched shoulders, stiff gait, eyes downwards simultaneously try to be unnoticed, yet look tough...has changed to a head up, free swinging, smile towards all public persona.

The only reason to live in New York is if you don't know any better.

NYC rebounded for a while in the late '90s and early 2000s. But the change today is inexorably downward.
