WASHINGTON - A federal judge held veteran investigative reporter Catherine Herridge in civil contempt on Thursday for refusing to divulge her source for a series of Fox News stories about a Chinese American scientist who was investigated by the FBI but never charged. U.S. District Judge Christopher Cooper in Washington imposed a fine of $800 per day until Herridge reveals her source, but the fine will not go into effect immediately to give her time to appeal. [Snip] But the judge said the court “also has its own role to play in upholding the law and safeguarding judicial authority.”

OK L-Dotters, help me. I seem to recall back in the Vietnam War and Watergate days, there were a series of media 'exposes' that all went in the direction of hurting our military and helping the Communists. The Media people who published these various articles refused to name their sources, and ANYONE who tried to force them to name their sources was Demonized as NAZI / FASCIST / etc. So... why is Ms. Herridge being 'held in contempt of court' and it seems there is not a lot of outcry? Could it be because she is not supporting the Leftists/Communists?

I have little respect for the courts in Washington DC. I wonder why there are courts there, except for the Supreme Court, criminal acts for government employees, and lower courts for the local citizens. If someone resides somewhere else or is not a government employee, that is where the case should be filed. I wonder what logic the judge used to come up with the fine of $800/day. I doubt this ruling is just a coincidence coming right after Catherine got fired and CBS took her files for a week or two. Something stinks.

@18, I would tend to agree with you but I think it's as much about "outing" Herridge if she divulges her sources so that she can be roundly discredited by the mainstream media community and pretty much blacklisted from doing her job with any credibility. They win if she talks and she pays the price for the integrity of protecting a source if not.

Poster 16, I always wondered how Tucker Carlson got away with everything he was exposing. And then one day he was gone. I wouldn't be surprised if one day Greg was gone as well. Truth telling journalists are rare in our country today. So none of us, including them, should be surprised when they become a target of the FBI, the installed Biden regime, the Deep State or are downright fired from their jobs by the enemedia. Truth in the news, the truth to hold the government accountable as anticipated by the Founding Fathers, has been dead for a while now. And any attempt to resurrect it is met with swift and brutal action. We are definitely a constitutional republic in serious decline. MAGA!
