Jennifer Crumbley found GUILTY of involuntary
manslaughter: Faces 60 years in prison
for son Ethan's school shooting rampage

This woman's immoral behavior probably opened a path for demonic influence upon her son. I believe this led to the shootings not mental illness. We ignore the reality of spiritual matters and beings not just to the peril of our souls but also to the risk of our actual lives. We'd rather believe in the myth of space aliens than the certainty of angels, the Devil, and God Himself.

Throughout this, I've been amazed that they couldn't find a meatier charge than Involuntary Manslaughter.

Amen, #1, amen.

Just the sound bites I heard on mainstream news made me think she needed to be held accountable and her husband as well.

I began watching the trial knowing that this woman was not only an immoral person but a horrid mother. The community was coalesced around the notion that she should be held accountable for the cold-blooded killing spree that her son committed. Her own demeanor convinced me that she and I might be polite neighbors but never friends.. Then I listened to the evidence from the prosecutors. Some of it was damning. Some of it was questionable and much of it seemed irrelevant. I was fascinated to hear this mother answer for all of these bits of evidence on direct and under cross examination. I began to realize that what I "knew" at the outset was something akin to a witch-hunt. Jury duty requires sober minded consideration of the evidence and it was becoming clear to me that much of the evidence had been presented in a manner that compromised the truth. Yes, mistakes were made, not just by the parents but even more so, IMO, by the school. The mother's lawyer was able to show her as a much more involved parent. Her son wasn't so weird after all. He had a job. He was on a bowling team. He and his parents (as seen in many photos over time) spent a lot of time together. No one at the school expressed concern about him harming anyone but perhaps himself. There was no long-standing concern over his mental health. Her reasons for "hiding" from the law were rationally explained. I understand the desire for revenge and accountability. I for one am not convinced that this mother should have been found guilty of the most severe charge. She should be as responsible as the school which had much more information on her son (and even they were not threatened by Ethan). Hopefully there will be an appeal. And since the father purchased the gun and had sole responsibility for the care and keeping of guns in the household, the case against him might be stronger. Ramona (the Pest)

Nothing to do with the verdict, but the jury forewoman comes across as a social media dweller who has been looking foward to her 15 minutes in the spotlight for some time now. Extra makeup for the occasion.

Now lets do the same with owners of pit bulls who let them run free to attack, maim and kill.

I agree with Ramona's careful assessment. Society has developed a craving for what it now considers justice-- aesthetic ,as opposed to moral, desire to counter-balance a crime with a satisfactory dollop of vengeance. Ambitious district attorneys are too ready to use "novel interpretations" of statutes to give the public what it wants. This is going to turn around and bite us

The whole judicial system is way off course. Originally United States law was based on a simple philosophy. -“You will face the Creator ”- All these mortals demanding earthly justice have skewed the system. In reality there is more negligence on the school’s part. Fire arm safety should be taught every year. K-12. After Columbine, all employees of schools should have been required to pass a concealed/carry permit annually. No requirement to own or carry, this would have stopped these shootings. Not knowing whose armed and whose not, is a major deterrent.

I'm sorry, no matter how rotten a mother she was....she isn't responsible for her son's murders.

Her infidelity is irrelevant and never should have been allowed at trial. She was a terrible mother and certainly guilty of something but she did not commit involuntary manslaughter. Wrong charge. I expect that to be overturned on appeal.

This woman and the son are so weird looking.

The prosecution claims the parents are responsible because they purchased the gun a few days before their son used it to shoot up a school and kill four. A much as the public and jury wants to blame someone for the shooting, the entire family did not do it. Just the son. You can blame them, hate them, and condemn them all you want. The mother did not pull the trigger. They claim her son "had issues". Lots of teenagers have issues. Doesn't mean they kill people. It is reasonable to believe that the parents did not believe their son was a killer.

The fundamental question of criminal justice ought to be "Who did it?" Ethan's parents were shockingly negilgent, and did a terrible job of bringing up their son. But to accuse the mother of manslaughter is a stretch. Ethan, worthy of execution, is not going to get out, and shouldn't. This case smells like lawfare.
