With a few subtle changes, the article you're about to read would appear to be satire. The New York City Police Department, beset by out-of-control crime, repeat violent offenders released back to the streets, a growing invasion of illegal aliens, and Democrat politicians who won't let officers do their jobs has taken matters into its own hands — by banning facial hair and wearing newly designed uniforms. Advertisement "Huh?" you ask. The NYPD is going "old school," according to Chief of Patrol John Chell, who told department brass at a recent Compstat meeting at One Police Plaza: Uniform changes are coming rather quickly. No more beards in about a week.

Comments:

I'm not a fan of uniformed officers looking like a hippy and living in thier parents' basement. Beards, ear rings, etc don't command much authority. But that's just me.

Poster #3, I was going to say the same thing. Also, if you look respectful, you will get more respect. It's like littering and graffiti, if a place is clean, people aren't as apt to throw their trash on the ground or deface buildings. That's why it's so important to paint over graffiti as fast as possible. And remember, letting things stay dirty and ugly is the way marxists gets us acclimated to disorder and it becomes the 'new normal.'

OK, so they're going old school but what does this change? New rules get placed on the police while the perpetrators commit crimes and are out of the penal system before their victims are out of the hospital. This changes nothing. Until criminals are held accountable for every crime they commit NYC will not be safe.

After my third spinal fusion operation on my cervical (neck) spine, I grew out a full twelve inch beard which extended to my belly button and let my hair grow like a 1969 Woodstock attendee, inveterate hippie wannabe that I am. It was fun while it lasted. Now I'm a clean shaven short-haired "straight," which I always was anyway. But I'm retired, and don't have to adhere to a dress or hair code.

I understand why they dropped the standards. Being a cop is a crummy job with unreasonable amounts of stress and generally low pay. Its not the respectable job it once was. At the same time, I cringe whenever I see one of those cops who look like outlaw bikers with scraggly beards and tattoos all over. If a plainclothes one told me to stop, I might not because I dont believe him. Even in uniform I have to think twice.

How silly. This has nothing to do with actually doing their work unless this overhaul somehow changes the crappy job NYC does of actually arresting, prosecuting, and incarcerating criminals. I don't care if a cop or a DA or a judge is covered in piercings and tattoos from hair to toe AS LONG as they do their job and keep bad guys off the street.

It might be nice if they took their CUE from the days of Bill Brayton and enforced the law as written. You might be surprised how much impact there is to be had from joining the QUEUE for new uniforms and grooming standards. Looking like you command respect generally leads to acting the part. Authorities on Friday nabbed a 15-year-old migrant suspected of shooting a tourist and firing at cops in Times Square, law enforcement sources said. The US Marshals Fugitive Recovery Task Force took the Venezuelan teen into custody in Yonkers at around 3:30 p.m., according to the sources. It came just moments after NYPD Chief of Patrol John Chell identified Jesus Alejandro Rivas-Figueroa as the “armed and dangerous” person of interest in connection with the chaotic incident at the Crossroads of the World Thursday night. He arrived in New York from Venezuela in September and has been staying at a temporary shelter at the Stratford Hotel on West 70th Street, Chell said.

Welcome to 2024, where the same man who was just absolved of criminal responsibility for the willful retention and mishandling of classified documents, largely due to his being elderly and having a faulty memory, is nevertheless held up by his fellow Democrats as being fit for reelection as commander in chief and de facto leader of the free world. I've heard of damning with faint praise before, but Special Counsel Robert Hur's report is next level. Of course they aren't recommending criminal prosecution of Old Joe. Former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley, after suffering a humiliating loss in the Nevada primaries, complained that former President Donald Trump “rigged” the race to prevent her from making a decent showing. Haley’s comments come weeks before the much-anticipated South Carolina primaries. Given that this is her home state, it will be a critical race that could decide the future of her candidacy. During an interview, a reporter asked if her loss in Nevada would hurt her campaign. Haley responded, claiming that the race was a “scam” and explained why her campaign did not direct any spending in the state.

Nikki Haley hasn't been faring well in the GOP primaries thus far (to put it mildly). But she appeared to have a foolproof plan for Nevada. While everyone else who bothered to run is competing in the caucus tomorrow, Haley was the only prominent candidate to enter their name in yesterday's primary. As it turns out, that plan didn't work out very well either. Haley managed to lose by a significant margin to "None of these candidates." The "none of the above" option drew more than 60% of the vote in a race with very sparse turnout. (NY Post). President Biden emerged victorious in Nevada’s Democratic primary Tuesday,

Did you know that kids across America are enjoying this year's Black Lives Matter "Week of Action?" There is absolutely nothing good to recommend about the BLM Week of Action, but this year, a new and particularly vile twist has been added to the mix: a call to martyrdom.

The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) is 'in the beginning stages of integrating automated facial recognition capability' to current systems that scan flyers' credentials but won't be fully operational until 2030 or 2040. The upgrade, which claims to capture 'minimum data' will match the traveler's face to their identification document, flight status and vetting status - and the facial recognition system is already used at 25 airports.

Joe Biden, senior aides and political observers strongly criticised the special counsel, Robert Hur, for extensively discussing the president’s age and allegedly fading memory in his report on Biden’s retention of classified information from his time as a senator and as vice-president – which did not produce an indictment. Hur, who Donald Trump appointed US attorney for Maryland, “could not refrain from investigative excess”, said Bob Bauer, Biden’s personal counsel. Though this was “perhaps unsurprising given the intense pressures of the current political environment”, Bauer added, the final report “flouts Department [of Justice] regulations and norms”.
