The targeting of another U.S.-owned commercial ship Wednesday shows the militant group remains intent on continuing its attacks in the face of multiple rounds of U.S. military airstrikes. The Houthis launched anti-ship ballistic missiles at the U.S.-owned, flagged and operated commercial ship Maersk Detroit as it was transiting the Gulf of Aden, according to a statement from the U.S. Central Command. The U.S. Navy destroyer USS Gravely shot down two missiles and a third fell into the water. There were no indications of damage or injuries in the attack. The U.S. military has been conducting airstrikes against the Houthis to

Looking ahead to the general election after former president Trumpâs comfortable win in the New Hampshire GOP primary Tuesday night, CNNâs Van Jones advised President Biden to fly under the radar on the 2024 campaign trail, suggesting his lethargy is a political liability. âIf I were Biden, I would stay hidden,â Jones said. âAnd Iâll tell you why: He doesnât inspire confidence. Heâs not a great messenger for himself.â The conversation was prompted by Obama David Axelrod, former senior adviser to President Obama, who earlier in the CNN segment said the 2024 race would be âtrench warfare.â CNN host Anderson

WASHINGTON - U.S. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin's aide asked for the ambulance picking up the Pentagon chief to keep its lights and sirens off during a New Year's Day call to 911, according to audio of call obtained by Reuters. "Can the ambulance not show up with lights and sirens? We're trying to remain a little subtle," the aide, whose name was redacted from the audio, told the 911 dispatcher. Austin's trip to Walter Reed National Military Medical Center and subsequent hospitalization was kept secret for days, including from U.S. President Joe Biden and even Austin's deputy, Kathleen Hicks. Those big electronic message boards along highways that convey a message with humor to drivers are under attack by Uncle Sam. The federal government wants the messages to be less humor, more standard use. It seems to me that the country could use more humor, even more corny dad jokes. Especially on long, boring highways, a little humor in the deliverance of important information to drivers goes a long way. (Snip) Blame Mayor Pete. The Federal Highway Administration, an agency that is in the U.S. Department of Transportation, issued new guidance in December about traffic safety messages. Signs should no

ARRIAGA, Mexico - A new migrant caravan of approximately 2,000 people formed in southern Mexico on Monday, largely made up of people that have been on the move since Christmas Eve who say the Mexican government's promises of transit visas last week never materialized. The migrants, including some carrying young children, are walking to the southern Oaxaca town of Tapanatepec, about 800 kilometers (480 miles) south of Mexico City by road. They hope to reach Tapanatepec by nightfall. The group of mostly Central American and Caribbean migrants are ultimately headed for the U.S. border, the caravan's leader Luis Villagran said. Last

CHICAGO â Multiple factors likely contribute to why only a small fraction of asylum seekers in Chicago have received permits to work legally. CBS 2's Sabrina Franza reported how only about 1% of the 26,000 migrants in the city have received their documents with assistance from the city and she dug into why the number is so low. The number really boils down to three things: the cost of the application, the availability of documents, and the significant demand. (Snip) The cost to fill out the application is over $400. There is a form to waive that cost. Conway's office has

White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre responded to questions from Democratic Mayors across the country regarding the administration's border and asylum policies during an interview Tuesday morning on CNN. "Here's my response. It is shameful that a Republican governor -- Gov. Abbott in Texas -- is using migrants as a political stunt. That's what he's been doing," Jean-Pierre said. "We're about to hit three years -- three years since the president put forward an immigration comprehensive legislation -- put that forward to Congress and nothing was done on it." In a display of heightening tensions, Iran dispatched a warship to the Red Sea, one day after the U.S. Navy destroyed and sank three Houthi small boats. Iranian state media reported that the Alborz destroyer moved through the Bab El-Mandeb strait, between the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden, on Monday. The strait is a strategic maritime and commerce shipping route. The arrival of the Iran destroyer in the Red Sea comes a day after U.S. Navy helicopters sank three boats carrying Houthi militants, according to U.S. military officials who said U.S. warships were responding to a distress call
