A never-ending massacre of Christians being "killed for sport" is reportedly happening in Nigeria, yet the world appears to be largely deaf to the matter. While much of the world this week has been celebrating a beginning – Christmas, the birth of Jesus Christ – in Nigeria they are mourning the end of life – the deaths of more than 100 Christians – as the world remains virtually silent. Armed bandits ran amok, according to Amnesty International, in some 20 communities across central Nigeria, killing more than 140. In a country where accurate statistics are traditionally hard to come by, some sources have put the death toll closer to 200.

For Republicans, it could be a very happy new year indeed. The 2024 elections hold the potential for a trifecta: winning unified control of the federal government, including all its elected branches, for the first time in eight years.
“Could” is the operative word, however. Republicans have an opportunity, but they must capitalize on it to bring their electoral dreams to fruition. The fact that it takes more than good poll numbers and flawed opponents to win in a polarized political climate can itself be summed up in one of the most futile phrases of the past few years: the “red wave.”

A Maine Republican state lawmaker wants to impeach the Maine secretary of state who removed former President Donald Trump from the primary ballot. GOP state Rep. John Andrews said he wants to pursue impeachment against Maine Secretary of State Shenna Bellows after she disqualified Trump from the 2024 Republican primary ballot on Thursday.
In her ruling, Bellows cited Section 3 of the 14th Amendment of the U.S. Constitution, which bans from office those who "engaged in insurrection." Andrews said in a statement that he filed a request with the Maine Revisor's Office saying he wanted "to file a Joint Order, or whichever is the proper parliamentary mechanism under Mason's Rules

Pennsylvania holds crucial importance for Biden's reelection bid. He notably hailed Philadelphia campaign donors as the "backbone" of his presidential campaign earlier this year.
As of Dec. 18, 35,589 Democrats reregistered as Republicans in the state so far this year; in contrast, 15,622 Republicans switched to the Democratic Party, data from the state department shows.

President Biden needs a big boost to win in 2024; the economy won’t be it. Despite the stock market’s recent euphoria over coming Federal Reserve rate cuts, this will not have the political impact many may imagine. Even if these cuts come, there simply will not be time to undo the damage that Biden has already incurred with America’s economy.
Biden is in deep political trouble. He is in trouble generally, as the Real Clear Politics national polling averages show. We should remember the now modern proverb of Nixon-era economic advisor Herb Stein to the effect that what cannot go on (without destroying the nation), simply will not go on.
In some sense, the country for recent years has been cruising on the fumes from prior and likely better wiser generations and institutions. In 2024, the tab for our current apathy, toxic politics, and incompetence will come due. So next year we will likely see the climax to a number of current dangerous ideas, events, and forces, which finally will either overwhelm us or be addressed and remedied. It could happen. More importantly, it should happen. Polls show that Biden is deeply unpopular. Upon leaving the White House on Saturday before spending his Christmas at Camp David, Biden was asked by a reporter about his "outlook" of the economy going into 2024.
"All good. Take a look," Biden responded.
"Start reporting it the right way," he added with a smirk. Biden has repeatedly been critical of the press, which he accuses of focusing more on negative news than positive things that come from his administration.
But his approval among Americans continues reaching historic lows and his handling of the economy is a heavy factor in his unpopularity.
