Ron DeSantis will drop out of the 2024 presidential race if he loses the Iowa caucuses to Donald Trump on January 15, it is claimed.
Two well-acquainted sources within the DeSantis campaign, a significant donor and a high-ranking political operative, told The Hill that if the Florida Governor loses to former President Donald Trump on January 15, he is likely to withdraw from the race altogether.
The announcement would either be made that same night or the following morning - - and with it a reluctant endorsement for Trump and the governor would not move on to New Hampshire, scheduled for January 23.

If Ron does this carefully (drops out and endorses PDJT) and then continues his fine work as governor, he may yet redeem his political future.

BS. And watch for more like this. The only person who fears Ron DeSantis more than the New York Times is Donald Trump.

#2, Seriously?! Nah. No one fears Ron DeSantis. Unfortunately, he took a promising political career and sacrificed it on the altar of Never Trumpers when they sold him a bill of goods. They used him and he let them and I cannot for the life of me understand why he made such a poor decision. RD squandered his potential and unfortunately removed himself as someone who could have been a force in 2028. I hate that he chose this path because the country needs committed America First politicians.
Once again, Rinos alomg with their political consultants have shown their complete failure to understand the base. This ain’t their political party anymore. The base has moved on to the concept of real representation by men and women who are committed to the best interests of the country.
DeSantis has a real opportunity to rise above this and move forward. It will be interesting to see how he plays this.

Ron woke up a little to late. The establishment designed this to ruin him politically. One thing they didn’t want to see happen is a Trump Desantis ticket. That would have meant 12 years of MAGA control. Ron walked right into it.

Gov D has damaged himself and his reputation. Beyond repair or not remains to be seen. Listening to Never Trumpers only is not not a wise practice.

OK. Ron DeSantis is an excellent candidate for President. I'm glad he threw his hat in and gave it his best effort. I think he's far superior to Nikki Haley. The timing of his opportunity came at a time when our former President has suffered much persecution and is still willing to run again. There's no reason to treat Ron DeSantis as a traitor for giving it a go. President Trump is still favored more than other candidates and will likely win primaries. I just pray that none of these unwarranted attacks knock him out of the election. If he is unable to prevail in these massive court attacks, I would choose DeSantis.

Governor DeSantis is a great Governor and was a great Congressman.
In hindsight, he should have waited to make his run, because the Trump juggernaut and seeming MANIA makes it next to impossible to win. The 'field of candidates' remaining are NOT going to be running mates, because PDJT will pick who he wants, and not who the media and RINO elites want.
Rather than coalesce around basic Tried and True bedrock principles of the Republican party lifting the individual's needs rather than those of big government/money concerns.
The 'Party" run by the RNC is way off its rocker and the INACTION to speak or DO anything in the face of the challenges we face by others in the 'Party; gives Mr.Trump the perception of leadership qualifications the others simply do not have--
The corruption all around U.S. concerning WRONG things going on unabated which Mr.Trump addresses just cannot be overcome no matter how much $$$$ is given to a candidate who opposes him. A Herculean task to right the ship which has been almost permanently been altered is ahead, and just running a campaign no matter how good cannot fix things.
A clear MANDATE from the voters is almost impossible to muster and there seems to be a perception that electing Trump again will make it all go away.
The hero status afforded NoBama and now the Vegetable his ventriloquist dummy in the media makes it difficult for the average American to be educated about the current issues at hand, but maybe THIS time all of the protections put in place after the stolen election of 2020 will make the difference if conservatives turn out in droves like we have never seen!

RDeS rolled the dice and went with the never-Trump crowd. It was the only way he could distinguish himself from Trump because the two men agree on many issues. He and his donors thought Trump would collapse under the weight of the deep state and its efforts to destroy him. It didn't happen so RDeS is left holding the bag. But politics is politics. While I wouldn't rule out RDeS getting a cabinet-level position under the Trump Administration, he will for now serve the Florida citizens well. In my opinion, his political career is not over. The United States of America, as founded, is dying and we need people like him to help save it - without the never-Trump crowd hanging onto his coat tails, that is.

Don't worry about Gov. DeSantis. He is still highly thought of here in Florida. He has worked hard during this campaign. I am not sure Mr. Gordon has all the facts on what Ron will do or won't do. Some of his writing sounds like wishful thinking. That said, IF Gov. DeSantis does decide there is no reason to go on, I hope he will Suspend his campaign. A lot can happen in a year. IF Trump gets caught up by one of the many of the accusations against him, we would be in trouble! There is NO ONE on the Republican side who could beat Biden, with the exception of Governor DeSantis. Personally, I would like to see Ron stay in until Nikki gets out! We sure don't want to get stuck with her!! By the way, it sure says a lot about New Hampshire if they put Christie in second place and DeSantis in fourth!! I will support my Governor no matter what happens. I think he is a good man and I think if he does bow out at some point he will support Trump in spite of the nasty things Trump has said about him!

Everything DeSantis has done so far in his career indicates uncommon competence and fairly good judgment. What prompted him to make the rash, foolish decision to prematurely run against Trump? Did the Bushes or the Wall Street globalists put him up to it? One can understand their desperation. But the governor doesn’t have to go along. Now stepping out isn’t going to help. He has a long road ahead.

It will take a miracle or the abduction by aliens of Donald Trump for any of the "contenders" to beat him in 2024. Ron should have listened to everyone except the Bushes and saved his time and energy for 2028.

What really fries my chitlins are those who claim that Donald Trump carries too much baggage or that Chaos follows him around. He didn't create any of it, the perverted justice system did. He is the man for 2024, more so because he fights like a Wolverine and that is exactly what the American people need now. We must be willing to join that fight.

In my humbled opinion, what happened to Ron DeSantis is what can happen to anyone when popularity rises.
ESPECIALLY, if there is no relationship with God. Egos take over and rather than giving God the glory and humbly serving constituents (American citizens), they give themselves the glory and lean on their own understanding. It happens time and time again.

After hearing snippets from his latest speech, I will not vote for him even if he should become the nominee. He faulted Trump for everything he didnt get done last time, completely forgetting all the lawsuits from the communists every time he said Good Morning or ordered dinner. He is an puke and part of the reason we are in such a mess.

Never say never... JFK & LBJ hated each other with a passion but made the deal that needed to be made to win the election. ( yes, they stole it in Chicago, Nixon should have been Pres.) Pres. Trump will do what is needed to win. RDS could confess his sins, sway some never Trumpers & become a cabinet member easily. RDS could " make his bones" on the world stage as SoS and glide into 2028...

#15, and all the podunk 'judges' who declared they didn't like something President Donald John Trump did, forbade it, and declared their action applied across the nation. I always thought 'judges' ruling's were only applicable to their assigned district and only the SCOTUS could apply a ruling nationwide but I was wrong. I did not understand why Judas John didn't step in and lay down the law.

A couple of more comments. Speaking of campaigns, I am sick of what happens in campaigns. Big companies, celebrities, the media, and any other "big" entity take away from the average, American citizen's vote. It said something to me that when Donald Trump was campaigning for the 2016 election, he was funding his own campaign. I absolutely think what took place with Ron DeSantis happened because "big" came his way. Now the media and Democrats want me to believe that Donald Trump "profited" from being President of the USA with his businesses during that time. I am so fed up with these accusations for one reason and it is through a question. Here it is:
If Donald Trump profited during his presidency and according to Democrats was influenced by foreign entities, HOW COME HE LOST IN THE 2020 ELECTION?
I maintain strongly that campaigns need to be cleaned up in policies, procedures, and finances.

Smart move. Most of his support goes to Trump.
Nikki Haley's only shot is the reverse "Operation Chaos," when in 2008, El Rushbo "encouraged" listeners to vote for Hillary in the Dem primary to delay King Obama's coronation.

DeSantis has harmed his future chances. The sooner he drops out, the better his chances in a future run. At another time, I might be persuaded to vote for him. Right now....as I have said repeatedly for about 8 or 9 months - it is not his year.

Love you guy, however, please stop with the, "It wasn't his turn" or "He was disloyal" nonsense.
Trump is the single most disloyal guy you can find in a pack of disloyal people.
As for his turn, again Trump LOST his last attempt to a turnip. He signed the CARES act that allowed them to ballot harvest him right out of the White House. As a country are we supposed to put one man's ego over everything else and take the chance that it just goes the same way again? If this was anyone other than Trump every single one of you would be screaming bloody murder to go away.
PLEASE stop treating him as the second coming. He (Trump) had his turn and a chance at a second term. He blew it! However it happened, he blew it. And he's still surrounded by the same people that will blow it again.
Sorry if the truth hurts.

A man who is easily swayed by his ego, is not a good leader.
Why did Ron listen to the Bushies and attack President Trump personally to gain an edge politically? The answer lies in Gov. Ron's character. Ambition. To the exclusion of common sense. That is a lack of wisdom. Not a good trait in a leader.

I appreciate comment from #12 and agree wholeheartedly with it. Our obscenely dishonest media (may they receive their "reward" soon) was only too happy to do their part to create the 'chaos narrative' against PDJT to serve their democrat masters.
I wonder if they have a plan B when it hits the fan and truth finally surfaces. Weak, whiney apologies won't cut it. The wheels of justice grind slowly ~ more slowly than we'd like ~ but there will come a day when a huge wrecking ball will come flying their way. I hope it hits them HARD; no group of people deserves it more, IMO.

I predict that the republican apparatchik is in place to give DeSantis the win. As you know, it has been reported, which I have idea if it is true or not, that his backers paid $95,000 to an Iowa religious leader’s group.
