The Colorado Republican Party has threatened to nix the state's planned primary election if Donald Trump's name isn't allowed on the ballot, replacing it with a caucus instead after a bombshell state supreme court ruling. The state GOP issued the threat on X after Trump competitor Vivek Ramaswamy threatened to try to take his own name off the ballot in protest. The threat came during the continuing fallout of the dramatic Colorado Supreme Court ruling barring Trump from the ballot under the 14th Amendment's clause on people who have committed 'insurrection' against the U.S.

Easy does it, folks. Replacing Colorado's republican primary with a state-wide caucus might be a good idea. But the fly in the ointment - convention rules might need to be changed so delegates to the national convention are still awarded to the caucus winner. Nevertheless, my state supreme court disgust bigly as does state government in general. All controlled by the Denver deep state. By the way, folks, read the court's ruling, Page 9. Trump's name will not be removed from the primary ballot as long as he takes his case to the SCOTUS where he would most likely prevail. The court stayed its own ruling. How generous of them. Just realize that the People's Republic of Denver wanted its own chance to make things as difficult as possible for Trump, too. All seven Colorado Supreme Court justices are lefty losers nominated by dim governors. Elections indeed have consequences.

This will be struck down by the SC I think quickly. Trump was neither convicted or even charged with insurrection. This is the opinion of 4 rogue activist judges who also know they will be overturned. It’s a political ploy that will backfire badly and make the Colorado SC look like the fools that they are. This will win more votes for Trump.

Is anyone else tired of seeing Republicans and threaten used in the same sentence? In their defense, the Colorado Pub Party tweeted the following in response to Vivek, "You won't have to because we will withdraw from the Primary as a Party and convert to a pure caucus system if this is allowed to stand." Switching to a caucus means they'd only have to worry about shenanigans from Romadolly and the national GOP.

Former Assistant U.S. Attorney Andrew Weissmann said Thursday on MSNBC’s “Deadline” that Americans died in the Civil War, so leaders “who engaged in insurrection” like the Colorado Supreme Court found former President Donald Trump did, can not run for office. Weissmann said, “This is not new. It is true that this provision of the Constitution is new to lots of people because we’ve never been in a situation where you would have somebody running for office who engaged in insurrection or a rebellion. What’s remarkable to me is that the story isn’t really, the unanimous finding in the Colorado case because you had no one dissenting on the issue

As Gateway Pundit readers know, President Trump was disqualified from the ballot in Colorado in 2024 thanks to their far-left Supreme Court. The Court dubiously cited Section 3 of the US Constitution’s 14th Amendment which states public officials who have “engaged in insurrection or rebellion against” the US may be disqualified from public office. The state’s high court left room for an appeal. The ruling will go into effect on January 4, 2024. But one would be mistaken to believe this is the end of Trump’s ballot challenges, and you can partially thank a “Republican” Presidential candidate for this.

Claims that former President Donald Trump and the GOP pose a grave "threat to democracy" have become a key Democrat talking point ahead of the 2024 elections, but several prominent Republicans and experts say it is really President Biden's party that is working overtime to undermine the vote. To make their case, they point to Democrats' efforts to keep Trump off the ballot, imprison him, stifle free speech on social media, and rewrite election laws while fighting measures designed to protect ballot integrity. Those ongoing efforts, they say, are a much bigger threat to democracy than the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol riot Biden and Democrats frequently cite.
