Well, that’s that. Under pressure from the US and other allies as well as the families of the remaining hostages, Israel offered a one-week operational pause to exchange more Palestinian prisoners to free the remaining Israelis. That offered a longer pause than the first deal, and a potential framework for other discussions.
Instead, Hamas insisted on a formal cease-fire, release of all imprisoned Palestinians, and increased aid just to open negotiations:
The hostage negotiations were set to include, for the first time, representatives of Hamas ally Palestinian Islamic Jihad, which has also said that Israel must implement a cease-fire before negotiations could start. Islamic Jihad also demands that Israel free

They're probably dead anyway, so no negotiations until Hamas is ended...

The headline could equally read Israel's response to that, "the war will not end until the hostages are released."

1) take hostages
2) get attacked for taking hostages
3) refuse to give hostages back until attacks stop
Hamas logic. They could have avoided attacks by not taking hostages or end the attacks by returning them.
Just kill everyone in Hamas and be done with it. By now most of the remaining hostages are dead anyway.

If Israel can, hunt down and kill every member of Hamas for crimes against humanity. No Quarter.

A few thoughts:
-My Dad, a USMC WWII combat veteran staff sergeant, used to say that, when dealing with people from the middle east, that their position generally was that "What's Mine is Mine, What's Yours is NEGOTIABLE." The Hamas thugs seem to be following that pattern, essentially saying "First Give Us Everything We Want, then we Might Start Talking About Giving You Some of What You Want."
-The phrase 'FAFO' -that I first heard attributed to Elon Musk- seems to apply here. Hamas FA'd, and now they're FO.
-I think it a strong possibility that the USA, having one carrier strike group (Gerald R. Ford) the area, and then moving a second one (Eisenhower) into the area, just may have 'cooled the jets' on some of Iran's proxies to Israel's north, and they then had second thoughts about attacking, deciding instead to sit this one out.

There we have it, the real reason for taking the hostages. They teased the world by releasing a few in exchange for getting many of their fighters back and are now counting on the squeamish leftists of the world to stop the extermination that they so richly deserve by threatening to kill the rest. So far, the useful idiots are going along with Hamas Thankfully Netanyahu and the IDF are not because they understand reality.

OK, probably not any hostages alive anyway.
Kill all Hamas. Including the rich leaders hiding out in other countries. Hunt them down and kill them.

Israel is ending the war. By continued fighting.
One thing to be sure about, some of the Arab countries will not miss Hamas.

Hamas clowns, you got it backwards. No end to the war until the hostages are released. Alive and unharmed.
