Elon Musk blasted a Microsoft Word feature called “inclusivity checker,” complaining that it “scolded” him for typing the word “insane.”
The billionaire owner of X posted a screenshot of a Microsoft Word document that appeared to be discussing Tesla’s new Cybertruck, which boasted of the new electric vehicle’s “insane stability.” The phrase was highlighted by Word’s software — which flags terms and phrases that are deemed politically incorrect and then recommends alternate phrasing — warning that “insane” is a word that “implies mental health bias.”
“Microsoft Word now scolds you if you use words that aren’t ‘inclusive’!” the world’s richest man wrote on his social media platform on Friday.

Hunter Biden reportedly threatened to take extreme action and flee the United States of America if voters reelect former President Donald Trump.
The threat represents the often neurotic nature of the president’s son, 53, who faces 42 years in prison for tax and gun charges in an ongoing investigation.
“In recent conversations with family friends, he [Hunter] has worried that he might have to flee the country if Trump were to be elected president again,” two people who spoke with Hunter told Politico’s Jonathan Lemire.

A school board member in Virginia took his oath of office with his hand not on a Bible, but on a stack of books containing graphic depictions of gay sex.
Karl Frisch, who will become chairman of the Fairfax County School Board, swapped the Bible for books including “Lawn Boy,” “Gender Queer,” and “Flamer.” His male partner held the books as he placed his left hand on them and his right hand in the air.
“He was sworn in on a stack of the five LGBTQ-themed books most frequently banned by other school systems,” Frisch’s campaign said on his website.

Google lost an antitrust case against popular video game maker Epic Games on Monday, with a jury ruling that the tech giant exerted “monopoly power” and engaged in anticompetitive conduct through its app store.
Epic, which makes Fortnite, alleged that Google stifles competition and imposes excessively costly charges on app makers using its Google Play Store. (snip)
Google and Epic will meet with U.S. District Judge James Donato in January to deliberate about possible remedies, which could significantly reduce the profits Google obtains and will likely force the tech giant to alter its business practices.

Democratic Attorney General Kwame Raoul of Illinois announced Monday that he filed a motion agreeing not to enforce a state law that targeted pregnancy centers for using alleged “deceptive acts” to lead women away from getting an abortion.
The law, Senate Bill 1909, was signed by Democratic Gov. JB Pritzker in July and would punish pro-life pregnancy centers with $50,000 for using alleged “deceptive acts or practices” to prevent women from gaining access to abortion or “induce” a woman to use the services of the pregnancy center. (snip) a district court judge ruled in August that the law was “stupid” and “likely unconstitutional.”

Longtime Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee (D-TX) filed for reelection just two days after a stinging electoral loss in Houston's mayoral race and before the 6 p.m. deadline on Monday to file.
Jackson Lee lost the mayoral runoff election on Saturday to another longtime Texas politician, Democratic state Sen. John Whitmire, who will helm the nation's fourth-largest city. The race had gone to a runoff after the pair of candidates advanced from the November all-party primary.

A Texas high school basketball player attacked his coach in a parking lot after he was benched for unsportsmanlike conduct during a game earlier that night.
Jevin Allen, 17, and his brother Jarrick Allen, 22, who also allegedly participated in the beating, were arrested Dec. 5 for the assault that left the coach with injuries to his head, neck, face and arms, authorities said. The coach, who was not identified by name, told the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office that Jevin was benched during the away game “due to his behavior toward an opposing team player” — a disciplinary action that “infuriated” the teen and his family.

A judge on Friday certified a class action lawsuit that alleges that Disney paid 9,000 women less than their male counterparts.
The suit is the largest ever certified under California’s Equal Pay Act, which makes it illegal for workers to be paid less for substantially similar work based on their gender.
Lori Andrus, the plaintiffs’ attorney, applauded the ruling outside the courtroom in downtown Los Angeles.
“Disney has been gaslighting these women for four years,” she said. “They love their jobs. They love the brand. But they want to be respected and treated the way they should be in the workplace.”
Disney expressed disappointment in a written statement.

The Supreme Court declined Monday to hear a challenge to a Washington state law prohibiting counselors from engaging in conversations that encourage changes to a minor’s “sexual orientation or gender identity.”
The law, adopted in 2018, threatens to fine counselors who violate it up to $5,000 and to revoke their license. The Supreme Court declined on Monday to hear Tingley v. Ferguson, a Christian family counselor Brian Tingley’s First Amendment challenge to the state’s “Counseling Censorship Law,” though Justices Brett Kavanaugh, Samuel Alito and Clarence Thomas noted they would have taken the case.
