Guyana has appealed for help from the United Nations and the United States as the Venezuelan president, Nicolás Maduro, announced a series of measures intended to advance its annexation of two-thirds of the tiny South American nation’s territory. “I have spoken to the secretary general of the United Nations and several leaders, alerting them of these dangerous developments and the desperate actions of President Maduro,” Irfaan Ali, president of Guyana, said in a television broadcast late on Tuesday, as he informed the nation of 800,000 of Maduro’s latest steps intended to create a new Venezuelan state in Guyana.

Bernie Sanders and the rest of the communist democrats are/were always pointing to Venezuela as their ideal nation they would like to transform America into. Yeah....and these dictator leftists are attempting to scare the nation that Big Bad Orange man would be a dictator if he gets re-elected. Our democrat governors were the dictators during covid, and our occupier in the WH is the dictator now. Remember when the Supreme Court said forgiving student loans was not constitutional and Joey the liar in chief did it anyway?

Russia invades Ukraine. Hamas invades Israel. Red China threatens Taiwan. Maduro, the former bus driver, wants to get in on the act?

Venezuelan president, Nicolás Maduro has been watching Biden and has decided that now is the time to make his move. More to come from others.

Maduro ran one country into the ground, now he wants to do the same to another. Like above poster said, the timing will never be better.

How about telling Venezuela that not only will we not buy oil from them, but we'll block them from shipping any oil if they don't play nice?

Biden is trying to outlaw fossil fuels while Maduro is threatening another country in order to steal their fossil fuel.

They're doing it because they know that the Western countries are being led by either pajama boys, Karens, or senile old coots, and that when their "green energy" fiascos implode, those who control fossil fuels will rule the world.

If it weren’t so sad it would be funny for Guyana to expect any help from the feckless, dictator-filled UN.

Want some territory, just take it. Maduro took lessons from Putin. Disband the UN or kick them out of America. This land grab is in line with the UN Agenda 21, an outline of globalization of the world and creating a communist economy for the world. You can read Agenda 21 by searching for it on Wikipedia.

Maduro wants to take Guyana to pay for his failures. Biden, Blinken, Democrats and Rino's will let him do it.

When do we send them $100B to defend themselves? We sent the same to Ukraine, an equally unimportant country.
Or as someone suggested, a missile through Maduro's office window. That would be cheaper and cleaner.

Maduro could do the same here, once the number of Venezuelan "migrants" grows to some threshold level. Secure the border already. The lede seems way too far from total Marxist to be from the Guardian, though -- do they revert to their normal commie angle in the main article? Or is it just cheap click bait?

The only place with leadership weaker and more liberal than Joe Biden is the UN. If Guyana expects help or leadership from either the US or the UN, they are out of luck.
