The New York Times editorial board has finally admitted that coronavirus-related school closures “may prove to be the most damaging disruption in the history of American education” in a Sunday opinion piece.
The editorial, titled “The Startling Evidence on Learning Loss Is In,” reflected on the “significant” learning loss suffered by millions of American children who were kept out of the classroom by lockdown policies, and warned of the lasting impact. “The evidence is now in, and it is startling. The school closures that took 50 million children out of classrooms at the start of the pandemic may prove to be the most damaging disruption in the history

Thanks to Fauci and that woman who heads the teachers union, Randi Weingarten (?). These evil people should be punished, but what can be done at this point?

Manipulation = control.
The witch, Randi, manipulated students and teachers to see how far she could go. Turns out, pretty far.
Now we have millions of students who are even further behind the global learning curve and no accountability in sight. (Randi is the Ronna McDaniel of the teachers’ union.)

At the time, I was working at a university in the teacher education program. There was one - just one professor who was against the school closings and she said it would have a bad impact on the students especially those who were in lower economic groups. She has been proven right. The schools in my area where the students of lower socio-economic groups go are in bad shape and even the ones where the upper class kids go have lost points. The only schools where the students have not lost ground are the private and parochial schools that did not close.

So the NYT changes its stripes? I don't think so.
I expect this new awareness to launch a new drive for more spending on public schools (unions), to "catch up" they'll say to those private and parochial schools "for the rich."
The paper of Walter Duranty hasn't changed.

Too late to try and get credibility; you're a sorry waste of space, NYT. Schools are almost like congress; they're out of school so much, I don't know how parents manage with all the holidays, no school days/teacher work days, fall break, summer break, Christmas break, and early release. We never got this much time out of school when I was young.

Hey!!! New York Times: you're "a day late and a dollar short" with the release of this report so
--- why is it none of you people ever suffer consequences for your actions that cause more chaos and calamity for those of us who are the backbone of this country and actually make if run and
-- they just get to release this tepid statement of the obvious truth that all of us could see but they couldn't, wouldn't or didn't want to?

"Damaging Deception" from Fauci, Teacher's Union AND the New York Times led to the "Damaging Disruption." You lied to us incessantly. You squelched any opposing points of view with calls of "conspiracy theory," included valid scientific objections.
Don't try to walk it back now.

Don't be mislead. By damage, they mean damage to goobernment education (indoctrination) and perhaps a generation lost to 'progressive' propaganda. We know once the parents got a view of the propaganda the state was 'teaching' their children, parents did the unheard of by voicing their concerns at school indoctrination board meetings and the ballot box. This has to scare the NYSlime to the point of collectively filling their diaper like Biden after ice cream.

They can tell us something completely contrary to common sense because after all they're passing on "expert" positions. Then they turn around and say, oops you and your pesky common sense were right all along. Sadly their assumption that people will continue to hang on every drop of ink they spill is largely true.

Most people think of elementary schools closing, but there was some significant damage to 1st and 2nd year college students as well. You shouldn't have to think twice about obeying elected officials, but some of those would lead you right off a cliff!

There are at least three people who should be tarred and feathered, The Fauxster, Scarf Neck, and Weingarten for letting this travesty happen to our young people.

Admitting guilt is only one step toward recovery. Making amends or at least trying as able, is critical, else one's contrition/confession are just so much hot air. The Yecch-Smellyburger family behind the NYT think this editorial 'correction' absolves them but it is just one-more unapologetic apology from these inveterate liars.

"This will cause students to experience “diminished lifetime earnings and become a significant drag on the economy,” the board added, citing projections from economists." You forgot the bright side, NYTimes. They'll still be able to vote. /s

The NY Times readers have been lied to frequently and consistently - - for at least the past 90 years - - but - - I doubt if any of those deluded leftists will ever stop reading that commie propaganda rag.

Unfortunately, they don't have any answers to help improve the deficiencies facing many students.
They are still organizing, still holding all of their in-service days, etc... The school year has not been extended, or is there any meaningful way to catch-up.
Remember, NONE of them lost a job or even a paycheck
Now, will the GOP use this as part of their 2024 campaign cycle?

Of course...WE knew the demand by the government...headed by fauci...was useless....and caused damage to the munchkins...but it's done and now the home schooling and private schools is the answer to the teacher's union....they are losing pupils...it reminds me over 35 years ago...when the rats came to Chicago demanding busing....the Mama Bears pulled their kids into private schools...and emptied the schools and saved the catholic school system with new students....don't mess with Mama Bears.....

EVERTHING about the Dem-panic was a mass if endless "mistakes".
A "vaccine" that killed 3.5X more than died from the disease.
"Lockdowns" which wrecked the economy in dozens of different ways.
School closings which damaged children's education and psyches for years.
"Medical treatment" which blocked lifesaving drugs as "dangerous" and forced deadly remdisivir on patients.
Thousands of soldiers and sailors forced out of the military by illegal "vaccination" requirements.
There are dozens of additional "mistakes" that these fascist dictators made, and laws were broken endlessly.

We must commend the NY Times for admitting that a democrat policy is toxic.
Should they become an honest media source, they have a lot of work ahead of themselves, and a lot of denouncing of democrat policies that they endorsed.

Once something is exposed as obvious and undeniable, you will read about it in the New York Times, They have about as much chance of reforming as Hunter Biden becoming drug-free and Bill Clinton giving up women.
