Hamas negotiators are in the final stages of striking a deal that would include the release of at least 50 hostages in exchange for a pause in fighting, the chief of the terrorist group said on Tuesday. Hamas leaders are “close to reaching a truce agreement” with Israel, Hamas chief Ismail Haniyeh said in a statement provided to Reuters. The agreement is in its “final stages” and a deal is “closer than it has ever been,” a source familiar with the negotiations told the wire service. A train derailed and spilled chemicals in a remote part of eastern Kentucky on Wednesday, prompting officials to encourage residents of a small town to evacuate.
Gov. Andy Beshear said in a statement that local officials in Rockcastle County were encouraging residents of Livingston, with a population of about 200, to evacuate.
In a news release, railroad operator CSX said that the derailment occurred a little before 2:30 p.m. local time north of Livingston and involved at least 16 cars. Two cars containing sulfur were "breached" and some of the sulfur caught fire, CSX said, indicting that sulfur dioxide gas was being released into the air.

The GOP finally put up some good electoral news on Tuesday. Republican William Cogswell defeated Democrat John Tecklenburg to become the next mayor of Charleston, SC. Tecklenburg was a two-time incumbent and expected to win the race as it headed into a run-off following the November 7th general election. What makes this such a big victory for Republicans is that Democrats had held the mayorship of Charleston since 1877, marking a major shift in fortunes. Voters in Charleston have chosen former State Representative William Cogswell to lead the city as its next mayor.

Democratic Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro has a unique explanation for why former President Donald Trump is ahead of President Joe Biden in recent polls.

The FBI is investigating a vehicle explosion Wednesday at the Rainbow Bridge border crossing between the U.S. and Canada in what sources tell Fox News was an attempted terrorist attack.
Explosives were in the vehicle at the time and two people who were in the car are dead, the sources told Fox News. A border officer was injured.
The vehicle was driving from the U.S. to Canada and were attempting to drive toward the border officer building, the sources said.
A vehicle exploded at the Rainbow Bridge between Canada and the United States in upstate New York on Wednesday afternoon according to state and federal officials — though additional details remain unknown at this time.
