State Senator John Whitmire and Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee ranked as the top two candidates in Houston's mayoral election, with Whitmire ahead by about 8% as of Tuesday night. Since neither cleared the threshold of 50% of the votes cast plus one, the contest will now go to a second round. The runoff election is scheduled for Saturday, December 9. Whitmire and Jackson Lee both stood out in a crowded field for their high levels of name recognition, decades of public service, and in Whitmire's case, a prodigious campaign war chest that enabled him to blanket the airwaves with commercials. Whitmire was first elected to the Texas House

The way I see it, they're both democrats so the only difference between them is their plumbing. Okay, the moron Jackson Lee gets points for the female/Person of Color 'Special Person' category.

I want to know why anyone with an IQ over zero would believe Sheila Jackson Lee is even remotely qualified to run a huge city like Houston. Is our country filled with ignorant voters?

If kwean sheela wins mayor of Houston, then Houston deserves her and I say that as someone who has lived outside of Houston all her life, has never been able to participate in the mayoral race but as a resident of the satellite communities, is just as affected by Houston as anyone else inside the 610 Loop. Houstonian used to have character and charm. Now its just one big depressing sinkhole of grunting Beyonce rap thumpers and Yankee urbanites looking to recreate their nightmarish hellholes in Cal-i-for-nee-ah (the pretentious bustards that they are).

The Houston Chronicle endorsed Whitmire, after humorously stating what a wonderful job Jackson-Lee has done in Congress. And they wonder why they are called the Houston Comical. Whitmire is definitely the lesser of the two evils, as would be virtually anyone running against the ignorant, despicable Jackson-Lee. Houston, you have a problem. And it is only going to get worse.

The level of violence keeps escalating. In the past 24 hours there were two anti-Semitic incidents at Ohio State University, one of which involved beating up students who were targeted for being Jewish. Early Friday morning, around 1:30 am, two students were leaving a bar off campus. The victims were leaving a bar when they got into a verbal altercation with two unknown male suspects, Columbus police said. “According to reports, the suspects yelled a derogatory term and assaulted two students while asking if they were Jewish,” OSU’s public safety notice stated. Columbus police said both victims “believe this to be a hate crime”

It appears at least some universities aren’t putting up with the pro-Hamas crowd’s antics. Ever since the current war began after Hamas attacked Israel on October 7, members of Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP) and Jewish Voice for Peace (JVP) have been causing trouble and engaging in rowdy demonstrations on college campuses across the country. In several cases, members of these groups have engaged in violent and threatening behavior as they advocate in favor of Hamas and the Palestinians. However, Columbia University is not putting up with it any longer. On Friday, the Chair of the Special Committee on Campus Safety, Gerald Rosberg put out a statement

Things have been getting out of control on college campuses when it comes to the anti-Israel crowd. As we reported earlier, anti-Israel groups at Columbia University were suspended for threatening behavior and intimidation. At MIT (the Massachusetts Institue of Technology), the anti-Israel crowd took it to a whole new level, as this letter from the students revealed. Professor Retsef Levi posted what the letter said and it's some pretty scary stuff, like a throwback to the 1930s. Today, Jewish and Israeli MIT students were physically prevented from attending class by a hostile group of pro-Hamas and anti-Israel MIT students that call themselves the CAA.

TEL AVIV, Israel — Israel is preparing for the possibility that the Hamas terror organization in Gaza and the Hezbollah terror group in Lebanon may attack using rockets filled with various liquid fentanyl variants, designed to incapacitate and kill large numbers of people. The Magen David Adom (MDA), Israel’s version of the Red Cross, sent an alert to staffers this week telling them that Israel’s health authorities had warned the MDA to prepare for the possibility that terror organizations might cause a mass casualty event using opioids from the fentanyl class of compounds. The MDA asked staff members to familiarize themselves with the protocol for treating

As you’ve probably heard by now (we had it in the headlines yesterday), Sen. Joe Manchin is not running for another term in the Senate next year. Manchin would be running as a Democrat in West Virginia against Gov. Jim Justice, a popular Republican. This move makes a lot of sense for Manchin. Rather than spend time and money only to lose a race he has little chance of winning, Manchin gets to go out on his own terms. But there’s no denying this is very bad news for the Democratic Party. In order to hold the Senate, they now need to win every seat they are defending and win

I’ve written a few times about the Hamas tunnel system under Gaza, aka the Gaza Metro, which the terror group relies on for safety, transportation, weapons storage, etc. Yesterday the NY Times published a story about the tunnels which I would describe as a primer on the subject. It really feels like a children’s book version of the story for people who know nothing about it. The Times has done some good reports about the tunnels in the past so this isn’t their first foray into the subject for the paper. Still, the artwork that goes with this makes it feel like its aimed at a different audience
