SAN FRANCISCO — The Northern District of California courthouse where David DePape will stand trial this week is unfriendly territory. The conspiracy-obsessed man charged in the hammer attack on the husband of former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi in their hilltop mansion faces decades in prison. The trial venue is two miles from the couple’s home, in a courthouse named for the longtime congressperson’s mentor and in a city where she won her last election with overwhelming support. “Nancy Pelosi is a loved and revered public servant in San Francisco,” noted Valery Nechay, a local criminal trial attorney who is following

Comments:

I'm surprised this would even go to trial. The whole event has been shrouded in mystery since Paulie placed the phone call on that fateful night.

"Loved and revered public servant"......I think I may puke. Nutty, Nasty Nance is the root of much of evil in DC, especially this massive inflation.

There are a couple of thorny issues in this case. Why were they both in their underwear and why did Pelosi tell the cops there was no problem? And why was Nancy subpoenaed? She wasn’t even there. Is she making a celebrity appearance?

Will the defendant take the stand? That will be interesting testimony! (Would it be embarrassing to Nance and Paul?)

Nancy never was a Public servant. She was a power mad harridan, and why the city of San Francisco which is awash in illegals, homeless and their bodily functions in the streets is a mystery to me.

California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) has hit an all-time low approval rating of 44%, according to a new poll by the UC Berkeley Institute of Governmental Studies and the Los Angeles Times. The Times reported Tuesday: Gov. Gavin Newsom’s standing among California voters has hit an all-time low, with 49% disapproving of his performance as governor, according to a new UC Berkeley Institute of Governmental Studies poll co-sponsored by the Los Angeles Times. The survey showed Newsom’s popularity has tumbled this year as he continues to amplify his national profile and campaign outside of the Golden State to support President

Former Obama adviser David Axelrod suggested it may be "wise" for President Biden to drop out of the 2024 race, on the heels of a brutal new poll which found him losing to former President Trump by up to 10 points in five battleground states he won in 2020. (Snip) The poll's findings prompted Axelrod to ask if it was in the country's "best interest" for the president to be the Democratic Party's nominee, with the risk of Trump defeating him in 2024. CHICAGO — Sophee Langerman was on her way to a bicycle safety rally in Chicago’s Lakeview neighborhood in June when a car turning right rolled through a red light and slammed into her bike, which she was walking off the curb and into the crosswalk. The car was moving slowly enough that Langerman escaped serious injury, but the bicycle required extensive repairs. To Langerman, it’s another argument for ending a practice that almost all U.S. cities have embraced for decades: the legal prerogative for a driver to turn right after stopping at a red light. Next week's off-year elections could provide a preview of 2024 for President Joe Biden, regardless of whether he faces former President Donald Trump in 12 months. Besides Gov. Andy Beshear's (D-KY) gubernatorial campaign, Ohio's abortion referendum, and Pennsylvania's state Supreme Court race, it is Virginia's general assembly elections that could prove to be the most predictive for next year. That is because of their potential to be an indictment on Biden's presidency amid speculation Gov. Glenn Youngkin (R-VA) is considering a last-minute bid for the Republican nomination — and there are no plans for the incumbent to stump there. Biden appearing

DETROIT – The investigation into the murder of Samantha Woll, a well-known leader in Detroit’s Jewish community, is entering its third week, and there are still many questions surrounding the case. Detroit police said last week that several persons of interest had been identified in the Oct. 21 killing of Woll, but no singular suspect has been publicly identified or charged as of Thursday. Authorities did share some information with the public last week regarding the evidence they’ve uncovered so far and provided a small update this week on the investigation. Samantha Woll, who also went by Sam, was stabbed

The final poll conducted by Emerson College has Kentucky's gubernatorial race in a dead heat. The poll, which surveyed 1,000 likely voters or those who have already voted, found incumbent Governor Andy Beshear and Attorney General Daniel Cameron with 47% support. 2% support someone else, and 4% are undecided. Among undecided voters, Cameron holds a slight advantage, according to the poll, with 49% support compared to Beshear's 48%. "Cameron appears to have gained ground by consolidating Republican voters who supported former President Donald Trump in the 2020 election," said Spencer Kimball, Executive Director of Emerson College Polling. The admission by Ukraine's top general that the war has reached a "stalemate" is simply a recognition, in some senses, of the reality on the ground and something we and others have already been reporting. However, General Valery Zaluzhny's recent comments in The Economist will likely be used by House Republicans who are opposed to continued U.S. military aid for Ukraine amid their war with Russia. The effort to kick Santos out of the House was led by his fellow New York Republicans, who are anxious to distance themselves from a colleague infamous for fabricating his life story and accused of stealing from donors, lying to Congress and receiving unemployment benefits he did not deserve. The Biden administration said it has already taken steps to protect Jewish students at college campuses across the country. The resolutions also propose changing the official language from “assisted suicide” to “medical aid in dying” (MAID) at the meeting,[Snip] These proposals, if adopted, fundamentally change the AMA’s position on assisted suicide. Special counsel Jack Smith's team filed a lengthy response Monday to former President Donald Trump's motions to dismiss his federal election interference case on statutory and constitutional grounds, saying the former president "stands alone in American history for his alleged crimes." Trump's lawyers have filed multiple motions to dismiss the Jan. 6 case, including mounting arguments that the charges brought against him were unconstitutionally applied and ran afoul of the charging statutes. Trump in August pleaded not guilty to charges of undertaking a "criminal scheme" to overturn the results of the 2020 election by enlisting a slate of so-called "fake electors," using the Justice Department to conduct "sham election crime investigations,"
