DETROIT – The investigation into the murder of Samantha Woll, a well-known leader in Detroit’s Jewish community, is entering its third week, and there are still many questions surrounding the case. Detroit police said last week that several persons of interest had been identified in the Oct. 21 killing of Woll, but no singular suspect has been publicly identified or charged as of Thursday. Authorities did share some information with the public last week regarding the evidence they’ve uncovered so far and provided a small update this week on the investigation. Samantha Woll, who also went by Sam, was stabbed

Comments:

All we know is that her horrific death was absolutely, positively not a hate crime. In the meantime, the perpetrator and his/her motive is apparently unknown.

Jewish woman stabbed.....that is the hallmark of a Muslim murderer. They hate Jews and very, very often choose knives as their weapons of choice. Look for guys named Mohammed or Abdul, or similar, about 25 to 35 and vocal haters of Jews. But, I'll bet that the police will be afraid to look at those folks for political reasons.

Next week's off-year elections could provide a preview of 2024 for President Joe Biden, regardless of whether he faces former President Donald Trump in 12 months. Besides Gov. Andy Beshear's (D-KY) gubernatorial campaign, Ohio's abortion referendum, and Pennsylvania's state Supreme Court race, it is Virginia's general assembly elections that could prove to be the most predictive for next year. That is because of their potential to be an indictment on Biden's presidency amid speculation Gov. Glenn Youngkin (R-VA) is considering a last-minute bid for the Republican nomination — and there are no plans for the incumbent to stump there. Biden appearing

The final poll conducted by Emerson College has Kentucky's gubernatorial race in a dead heat. The poll, which surveyed 1,000 likely voters or those who have already voted, found incumbent Governor Andy Beshear and Attorney General Daniel Cameron with 47% support. 2% support someone else, and 4% are undecided. Among undecided voters, Cameron holds a slight advantage, according to the poll, with 49% support compared to Beshear's 48%. "Cameron appears to have gained ground by consolidating Republican voters who supported former President Donald Trump in the 2020 election," said Spencer Kimball, Executive Director of Emerson College Polling. The admission by Ukraine's top general that the war has reached a "stalemate" is simply a recognition, in some senses, of the reality on the ground and something we and others have already been reporting. However, General Valery Zaluzhny's recent comments in The Economist will likely be used by House Republicans who are opposed to continued U.S. military aid for Ukraine amid their war with Russia. (Snip) "Stalemate" headlines risk fueling the notion that the deadlock cannot be broken by a continuous supply of Western weaponry. WASHINGTON - Rep. George Santos easily survived a vote Wednesday to expel him from the House as most Republicans and 31 Democrats opted to withhold punishment while both his criminal trial and a House Ethics Committee investigation proceed. The effort to kick Santos out of the House was led by his fellow New York Republicans, who are anxious to distance themselves from a colleague infamous for fabricating his life story and accused of stealing from donors, lying to Congress and receiving unemployment benefits he did not deserve. But the resolution failed to gain the required two-thirds vote. Supporters could not even

President Biden's administration is working on a strategy to combat Islamophobia in the U.S. amid Israel's ongoing war against Hamas. The Biden administration said it has already taken steps to protect Jewish students at college campuses across the country. The White House had hoped to announce similar action for Muslim Americans, but the move was met with skepticism from Muslim leaders, two sources briefed on the matter told The Associated Press. Footage and reports of antisemitic incidents have exploded in the weeks following Hamas' Oct. 7 massacre in Israel, particularly on college campuses. Dozens of student groups have sought to

Researchers at the University of Rhode Island analyzed 99 places, finding that most are sinking faster than sea levels are rising, but 34 locations are dropping by more than one centimeter per year. The team uncovered four sinking 'hot spot' cities in Bangladesh, China, the Philippines and Pakistan, with yearly subsidence rates of up to five centimeters.

In public education’s latest blunder, the Oregon Department of Education has just decided that basic reading, writing and math skills are not required for students to graduate with a high school diploma. Prior to the passage of Senate Bill 744 in the Oregon Legislative Assembly’s 2021 session, the state’s “Assessment of Essential Skills” requirement for high school graduation was sensible: “read and comprehend a variety of text, write clearly and accurately,” and “apply mathematics in a variety of settings.” Students were required to demonstrate these skills by “earning at or above a cut score on the Oregon Statewide Summative Assessment test.”

Combine that cleverness with the fact that he truly dislikes Israel and has aligned himself with those countries and groups that wish to destroy the country, complete with the genocide of all of its inhabitants, and you end up with someone who covertly signals to Israel’s enemies his ideological allegiance with them, even while seemingly treading a morally meaningless line right down the middle. Those of us who have paid close attention to Obama over the years know that he dislikes Jews and Israel. Here

Instead of moving forward and returning to normalcy, health officials double down on precautionary measures to “limit the spread of RSV, the flu and COVID.” This month, Santa Clara County decided that everyone — patients, caregivers, and healthcare providers alike — must don the all-too-familiar face masks in public patient care areas in hospitals, clinics, and long-term care facilities. This directive is not for a week or a month but for the entire “winter respiratory virus period,” Mercury News reported. This mandate is slated to span from November 1 to the end of March. That’s a whole five months of mask-wearing, in spite of declining COVID cases.
