RINOs - - too dumb to realize that there's a war being waged against the American people - - which includes them - - by vicious communists. They think that being nice will make them loved. They'll continue to think that - - even while the guillotine in falling rapidly to their necks. It's frustrating for all of us - - who know that stupid can't be fixed.

What exactly is a RINO? Two weeks ago, Conservative Treehouse was among those who opposed Jim Jordan, and plenty of commenters on this page shared that position. [https://theconservativetreehouse.com/blog/2023/10/04/beware-the-anger-manager-judiciary-chairman-jim-jordan-says-he-would-accept-house-speaker-role/] Now Jordan’s opponents are called RINOs? Hmmm. Likewise, plenty of commenters here were perfectly fine (ecstatic, even) when Matt Gaetz enlisted the help of Democrats to topple McCarthy, but now the same tactic is a crime that makes one a RINO who deserves being primaried? Hmmm again. For the record, I have always liked Jordan and always despised Gaetz’s tactic — which I suppose made me a RINO or a patriot, depending on the day of the week. But a little consistency would be nice. Otherwise, the term RINO is meaningless.

#8. Excellent point. Once can't expect consistency from Sundance. Some of us who do so have been called "anti-Sundance spleen-venters", which is fine. I would never do that to a fellow LDotter with whom I frequently disagree, but I will settle for Mark Levin's characterization of CTH as a "Kook" site.

I was an independent until Reagan. But after Reagan, the Rebublicans have been nothing but a disappointment. This 'disagreement' in the Rebublican party is less organized than a monkey feces fight at the zoo. We will be a communist country under Democrat control cause the only opposition to the fascist is too busy screwing itself instead of protecting the country.

Do You Cheer for the Globetrotters or the Generals? Some of you may remember the Harlem Globetrotters. They were a little before my time as I only remember them from a couple Scooby Doo cartoons. They were a basketball team that put on a show of fancy spinning balls, dribbling, dunking, etc. in the middle of a game with a team called the Washington Generals. The Generals acted like a serious team trying to win the game but really were mere props, there to provide the illusion of competition as they lost in an entertaining way to the stars of the show, the Globetrotters. I’ve heard this analogy before, but it never seemed more appropriate than in the last couple decades. That is, the Democrats are the Globetrotters, while the Republican Party plays the role of the Generals. The Democrats are the true stars of the show for the Ruling Class, while the Republicans are there to act as villains and provide “opposition.” As with the Generals, the Republicans are allowed to win on rare occasion, just to keep up the illusion of competition, but it’s all for show. We’ve seen this with the pathetically bad candidates, John McCain and Mitt Romney, who didn’t even have majority support within their own parties. We saw this with George W. Bush, who followed a big government, war-focused agenda not much different from the Biden Democrats while not putting up even a shred of a fight as Hollywood, mainstream media, and academia redefined the image of conservatives and libertarians. And of course, we’ve seen how Bush, Cheney, Romney, McCain, Ryan, McConnell, Christie, and other Establishment Republicans have fiercely opposed a man finally putting up a real fight against the Ruling Class powers, Donald Trump. He was allowed to be the 2016 nominee only because he was expected to continue the tradition of losing. But then he unexpectedly won and broke the script, actually trying to defeat the Globetrotters. 😱 The latest House Speaker battle has evolved into a Republican Civil War between the old guard of the Establishment Washington Generals (McConnell, McCarthy, Pence, etc.) and a new wave (Goetz, Jordan, Paul, etc.). The old guard represents the business-as-usual, big-government, free-spending, lovable losers, while the new guard is actually trying to fight for what the Republican voters want. I don’t agree with every position of some of the anti-Establishment types, but they at least are trying to push for conservative/libertarian principles. Every poll shows Jim Jordan has overwhelming voter support over any Establishment Republican figure. The fact they nominated Steve Scalise in a secret meeting shows Establishment types don’t give a s*** what their base voters want. It’s all about continuing the chirade. I’m not sure if the new MAGA Republicans will eventually weed them out, but if the Republican Party doesn’t radically change its ways, it deserves to die.

I keep hearing excuses for the GOP, at least the House, is that unlike the Dems - the Rs are individual thinkers, etc - not lemmings like the Dems. And yet how many of the holdouts voted the same way as Dems for ore aid to Ukraine, etc.? Seems the Dems; moderates to the extreme Left all have one goal in mind whereas the Rs, well, seems too many are in it for themselves.

I look at the comments made here on this article and I am sad. I find it sad because I believe the problem is much deeper and it starts with the RNC. I firmly believe that Ronna McDaniel is ineffective. I also believe that the RNC does not vet people wanting to run as a Republican because the RNC has not defined who they are. It has to go beyond being the opposite party of the Democrats. Okay, we get that but now the RNC has to define what you stand for and that has not been done. It shows in the comments reflected here. What does it mean to be Republican to you?

My Congresswoman Lori Chavez-Deremer (R OR 5) got a phone call from me this morning asking her to support The grassroot Republican's choice for Speaker. She voted for McCarthy. I told her I was a donor to her campaign and had just mailed her another donation in the morning mail. McCarthy, I told her, made his first mistake by agreeing to a dumb rule change to allow a vote to vacate by a single congresscritters request. What did he think would happen. Then he breaks one of his ''promises'' to his conference.

Rep. Jim Jordan's bid to become speaker failed for a third time on Friday, with no end in sight to the House leadership vacuum as Congress faces a deadline to avoid a government shutdown and the White House calls for urgent security assistance for Israel. Jordan has insisted on remaining in the race despite failing repeatedly to secure the gavel as support for his bid erodes further with each consecutive vote. This time, 25 Republicans voted against Jordan, who boasts the support of former President Donald Trump. Twenty-two voted against him in the previous vote.

GOP Speaker nominee Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) on Friday said he would try again to break the two-week-long Speaker stalemate that has plunged the chamber into chaos. “Our plan this weekend is to get a Speaker elected to the House of Representatives as soon as possible so we can help the American people,” Jordan said when asked what his plan is for the weekend. The Ohio Republican scrapped plans to hold a third vote on his bid Thursday after opponents came out of a meeting saying they would maintain their resistance to him and at least two lawmakers who voted for him previously said they would switch their votes.
