House Majority Whip Tom Emmer has formally ruled out a Speakership bid as House Republicans slowly but surely rally around Judiciary Committee chairman Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH), the GOP conference nominee for Speaker,in the drawn out Speakership fight, as it enters its third week.
“Whip Emmer has no plans to run for Speaker,” Team Emmer Executive Director Michael McAdams told Breitbart News on Friday night. “Whip Emmer spoke to Congressman Jordan directly this AM and told him he was supporting him. We have been in touch with his team all day in support.”

I pray that Jordan does a better job as Speaker than he has so far in the Judiciary Committee.

Jim Jordan is the best person to deal with Hakim Jeffries and his shadow, Nancy Pelosi. He will also stand up to Chuck U in the Senate. Excellent choice and will take no prisoners.

I may be wrong about this but aren’t Subpoenas approved by the Speaker? If that is true, maybe we can get some real effective movement with Jordan as Speaker on these committees looking into the mass corruption that has criminalized various agencies.
One thing that Republicans must learn is that we the people have had enough of their failure to honor their oaths of office. It’s time to take the gloves off and if as a Republican you are unwilling to do this, in my book that makes you very suspicious. The corruption is blatant and in your face and it is past time these criminals were purged from the government, regardless of who they are. We must coalesce around one belief and that is no one is above the law.

Have no fear, the republicans will still find a way to mess this up and embarrass the country for a while longer. Too bad that the American people do not have the power to recall their elected representatives if they turn out to be "not as advertised" like the House did with McCarthy. Still, this is not a big deal like they claim, much like the threat of a government shutdown. We all see it as a time-out from breaking the country.

The vicious leftist media was giddy - - yocking it up - - when it appeared that President Trump's endorsement of Jordan had failed.
But of course - - they will apologize profusely - - when Jordan is handed the Speaker's gavel. Yes - - their apologies will be heartfelt and tearful. You can count on it.

Jim Jordan has put himself out there fighting the left for years. I don't know these other congressmen who want to be speaker. Where have they been all these years? They have not shown they are conservative leaders, they are just run of the mill followers of the establishment.

Yeah...House Whip drops out of Speaker race...after he was not able to get ALL of the party congresscritters to show up when votes were called. Crucial votes being taken and over 15 "No shows", he could have sent the Sergeant at Arms to fetch them, or even the US Marshal service.
(Personally I'd like to know which ones didn't show up, and what their excuses were/are, and also whether proxy voting is allowed currently)

Any Republican that says they won't do anything and will stay out of the way of Democrats will be a shoo-in for Speaker.

I might be wrong, but isn't there and Interim Speaker? He seemed to have some power the first day, so why hasn't he called ALL Members in, no exceptions, and made them stay there until a new Speaker is chosen! Nobody goes home until it's done! And yes, those members who are just there to drag out the process should be exposed. Who are they? And another thing. Where is Matt Gaetz? I think it's not wise to throw a Grenade into the House, then disappear. Might have been a good idea to have a PLAN before doing that!

"Team Emmer Executive Director Michael McAdams told Breitbart News on Friday night."? So Emmer has a "team" and ots "executive director" speaks for him? Seriously?
Spare us.
Gaetz made a statement. But he had no plan. Which has been Gaetz since Day One. I remember when no one here had any use for him because they said his rich daddy bought him that seat.
