Jim Jordan Fails to Secure Speaker’s

Original Article

Representative Jim Jordan fell short of the necessary 217 votes to become the next speaker of the House in the first round of voting on Tuesday, as a significant number of moderates within the Republican caucus refused to fall in line behind the hardline Ohio lawmaker. While Republicans remain divided on Jordan, the Democrats unanimously backed House minority leader Hakeem Jeffries (D., N.Y.), just as they did when former Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R., Calif.) was elected in January. At the end of the first ballot, Jeffries garnered 212 votes while Jordan received 200 and 20 others voted against the latter. Neither received a majority

Rep. Mike Kelly (PA) introduced a resolution to allow the House to hold an election of Rep. Patrick McHenry (NC) as Speaker Pro Tempore. This resolution would expand his powers until Nov. 17, 2023 or a new Speaker elected. This would allow the House to move critical legislation, appropriation bills to the floor for consideration.

Joe Biden did not have a good talking day on Wednesday, even by Joe Biden standards, which are already a low bar. It was a banner day for bad remarks from Biden in Israel and on his way back to the U.S. First, when he met for a photo op with Israeli leader Benjamin Netanyahu, Biden blanked out as he was trying to tell him a story. Then Biden also said it appeared it was "done by the other team" to Netanyahu, as though the war were a football game. But he also didn't name the "other team" -- Hamas -- in this

When a hospital in the Gaza Strip blew up on Tuesday night, U.S. and international news media uncritically reported Hamas terrorists' claims of an Israeli massacre. The White House and Israel have since refuted that account, citing imagery, intercepts, and open-source information. Many of the same outlets have obsessed over the spread of "misinformation" in recent years yet created their own by parroting Hamas during a war the terror group savagely provoked with Israel. The journalistic fiasco was an example of the media's tendency to adopt the Palestinians' narrative about the conflict with Israel, even when that narrative is unsupported by the facts.
