PORTLAND, Ore. – In her historic role as president pro tempore, Washington Sen. Patty Murray now stands second in the presidential line of succession after Rep. MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell says his pillow company is now facing five audits from the IRS. Lindell told Steve Bannon on the latter's "War Room" podcast on Saturday that IRS auditors were looking into earnings made by his call center contract workers. The audits concerned commissions earned by some employees who worked remotely during the COVID-19 pandemic, Lindell said. (Snip) The pillow magnate further claimed that the audits were politically motivated because of his support for former President Donald Trump's groundless election fraud claims. "This is something that hasn't happened in 15 years, and all of a sudden there's 5

A California Democrat is urging Laphonza Butler — who was named to fill the late Sen. Dianne Feinstein’s (D-Calif.) seat Sunday — to keep out of the 2024 Senate race. “No, I don’t believe she should,” Rep. John Garamendi (D-Calif.) said Monday on CNN. “There are three exceptional candidates that have been working more than a year. I just think it’s terribly unfair that she would do so.” (Snip) Newsom said he would not select anyone currently running for Feinstein’s seat, saying that it would be “completely unfair to the Democrats that have worked their tail off.” Several high-profile California

Meghan Markle is reportedly "in the running to fill Dianne Feinstein's California Senator seat" as the Duchess considers a run for office. According to a major Democratic donor close to Californian Governor Gavin Newsom, who is set to choose Feinstein's replacement, the possibility of the Duchess of Sussex running is not impossible. Although a long-shot replacement for the 90-year-old pioneer, there is speculation Meghan could serve out the remaining 13 months of Feinstein's term. A source told the Mail on Sunday: "Meghan is definitely a long-shot but in the craziness that is US politics these days it's not an impossibility.

The Biden administration announced its latest regulatory action targeting home appliances late Friday, this time targeting popular home gas-powered furnaces. The Department of Energy (DOE) said the energy efficiency regulations would slash household utility costs by $1.5 billion on an annual basis while reducing greenhouse gas emissions from the residential sector. The proposal, according to the agency, require non-weatherized gas furnaces and those used in mobile homes to achieve a far higher level of efficiency than cheaper models on the market. "At the direction of Congress, DOE is continuing to review and finalize energy standards for household appliances, such as

The death of Sen. Dianne Feinstein places Gov. Gavin Newsom under intense pressure to quickly name a replacement as a bitterly divided Congress votes on a spending plan in the coming hours to avert a government shutdown. Newsom had hoped to avoid the politically charged decision of selecting a second senator. But he will need to move swiftly as a budget standoff has the government on the verge of shutting down, and Senate Democrats could need every vote. The timing of Feinstein’s death — four months before a primary but more than a year before the end of her term

Target said Tuesday that it will close nine stores in major cities across the country, citing violence, theft and organized retail crime.
The company will close one store in New York City’s Harlem neighborhood, two locations in Seattle, three stores in the San Francisco-Oakland area and three more in Portland, Oregon. The discounter said it will shutter the stores for good on Oct. 21. “We cannot continue operating these stores because theft and organized retail crime are threatening the safety of our team and guests, and contributing to unsustainable business performance,” Target said in a news release. “We know that

Dallas Mayor Eric Johnson, a longtime Democrat, said he's switched parties to become a Republican. “Today I am changing my party affiliation,” Johnson wrote in an op-ed published Friday in The Wall Street Journal. “Next spring, I will be voting in the Republican primary. When my career in elected office ends in 2027 on the inauguration of my successor as mayor, I will leave office as a Republican.” Johnson served in the Texas Legislature for nine years as a Democrat before he was elected mayor in 2019. Though the mayor’s position is technically nonpartisan, Johnson joins Fort Worth Mayor Mattie

London - One of Ukraine’s closest and most vocal allies has now said it will stop sending arms to Kyiv, a major reversal that threatens to upend Europe’s strategic relationship with the country as it wages a counteroffensive against Russia. Poland’s decision was both sudden and predictable, coming after months of tensions over a temporary ban on Ukrainian grain imports to a number of European Union countries. It also follows a pattern of increasingly confrontational behavior towards Kyiv from Poland’s government, just weeks before a tight general election. And it could have implications for Ukraine’s attempts to push Russian forces
