As one of two Secret Service agents assigned to safeguard the wife of President John F. Kennedy, Paul Landis was never far behind Jackie Kennedy wherever she went.
That was the situation on November 22, 1963, when the Kennedys embarked on what should have been a routine motorcade through the streets of Dallas, Texas.
As excited crowds clamoured to catch a glimpse of America's golden couple in their open-top limousine, 28-year-old Landis was one of four agents keeping watch from the jumpboard of a Cadillac immediately behind. It meant that when shots rang out, he had a ringside view of one of the most shocking — and defining — events of

The Secret Service covered up their complicity with the help soon to be almost senator for life Arlen Spector.

I don't respect anyone that withholds the truth for 60 years.

I remember when he was killed. I was in high school. I followed the story but it was quickly obvious we were not being told the truth. Medical people at the hospital were telling different stories about where he was shot. Then Jack Ruby killed Oswald. Never made sense to me.

I have heard this theory. It would explain the Warren Commission whitewash report.

What a crock. The "magic" bullet was not "pristine" but well scarred up, although it remained intact.
This idiocy never ends. Belief in second shooters and that of little green men in UFOs seem to have a peculiar staying power.

I was in Sister Mary Germaine's 4th grade class when JFK was assassinated. (You could say the Irish Sisters of Charity took it personally.) I was watching TV with my family when Ruby shot Oswald. Then the viewing in the Rotunda and the funeral. It was a very surreal four days for a ten-year-old to process. I've spent my life reading about it; all the theories. The only one that makes sense is the CIA is behind it all, and I wouldn't be surprised if there was a second shooter; a Secret Service Agent in the following car. Just my two cents.

BS, folks. I have seen a thousand conspiracy theories since, as a newspaper employee., I watched the post office lower the flag on that day many years ago. I cannot conceive of any situation where the CIA or whoever would trust an assassination to a nutball little communist like Oswald to pull something like this off. He tried to kill Edwin Walker but missed. A member of the ACLU and also the ‘Fair Play For Cuba Committee ‘ and a deserter to the Soviet Union. They thought he was a CIA plant and shunned him. Since he wasn’t hailed as a hero, he came back to the States with his Russian wife. Occam’s Razor here. Not that I don’t think that the CIA is above doing something like this, especially now, but this little leftist loser managed to pull off a horrifying, tragic event....by himself.

They announced within an hour or two that it was one guy and no conspiracy. How could they possibly know that at that point in time? I don’t have to provide an alternate explanation to say I don’t believe the story we’ve been told. I don’t know how to perform surgery but if you tell me there’s a magic scalpel involved that cuts by itself I won’t believe it.

The best documentary I have seen on the subject convinced me that a hung-over Seecret Service Agent in the follow car. When the car lurched forward he pulled the trigger & blew Kennedy;s head apart. Tons of corroborating evidence, including evidence of a massive coverup by the FBI, SS, Arlen Specter, & the Waren Commission.
No way did Oswald fire three shots. Impossible. People on the ground smelled gunsmoke. It wasn't from Oswald's gun. The Secret Service agent's gun disappeared at Parkland Hospital. In Washington the FBI locked down everything and fed the media their cover story. It's all the same corrupt Deep State Police State stuff that's been going on since WWII. Now its 100X worse.

# 9, the shooting has been re-enacted many times. They found that It was indeed possible to get off three rounds in 8 seconds.

#10. Carlos Hathcock could not pull off that shot with that piece of junk.
Why did Connolly specify that his wrist wound not be probed after his death.
Why was there no ammunition for the rifle or his pistol found among Oswald s possessions? One round was ejected from the carcano.

The reason the real evidence wasn't released was to protect the Deep State from their MURDER of JFK!

Hogwash. It's over, and "new evidence" is pure hokum at this point.
Give it a rest.

# 11, it was an inexpensive mail order rifle, but adequate for the task. The weather conditions for the shooting were ideal, and LHO had a 4X scope mounted on the rifle.

Re #11, my brother and I happened to own two of the same model rifles. They are perfectly fine for this VERY short shot for a rifle. The shot was 60 yards, at a target going almost directly away from the shooter, at 5 mph, so the target was not moving in the sight, perhaps moved 6 inches farther away during the bullet's flight. Irrelevant.
The shot was actually pretty easy. And they have the mail order receipts for the rifle and the pistol that Oswald used to murder a police officer about half an your after the shooting....and there were witnesses to that murder, and the empty cartridge cases at that scene matched Oswald's mail order handgun.
As to why Oswald did it, and whether someone paid him or it was his own idea .....I have no real opinion, you can make arguments both ways. As to the mechanics, yep, that gun and that shooter (Marine trained) was perfectly capable of making the shots, and yes the single bullet is perfectly plausible for a long, full metal jacket military bullet of that era.
This conspiracy crap was tiresome within one or two years of the events. Now the better part of a century later, it's super tiresome, and totally unconvincing.

Thank you, #10, #13, #14, and #15. A loser, for whatever reason, kills someone prominent ... it happens. Gerald Posner's and, especially, Vince Bugliosi exhaustively researched books on the assassination should settle the matter. Oswald's three shots (which have been replicated many times by many shooters) from the cheap but reliable Italian .264 carbine, were from 80-85 yards (240 to 255 feet) with a bench rest (window sill) and a 4X scope, making the shot optically from about twenty yards. For a U.S. Marine sharpshooter, an incredibly easy shot. JFK never had a chance, and if a shot had allegedly come from the "Grassy Knoll," Jackie would have been killed, too. Gov. Connally was sitting in a jump seat that was lower than JFK's seat, and slightly to the left. The "magic bullet" flew straight. Oswald did it, and it's too bad the hothead Jack Ruby killed LHO before the trial. What as mess that caused. Ruby died in prison in January 1967.
