Truths: The Earth’s climate has continuously changed over 4.5 billion years. Carbon is a relatively rare compound in our atmosphere but integral to life on Earth. Fossil fuel has dramatically improved human life in every way imaginable. And he who controls carbon emissions controls everything. This last point is why global leftists relentlessly press the fiction of anthropogenic climate change. As proof that anti-CO2 brainwashing works, 41% of French people polled want to limit humans to only four airplane rides per year.
Westerners have no sense of what the pre-fossil-fuel world

Then by all means, they should limit themselves to the 4 lifetime trips they think are optimum. And keep their long noses out of everyone else's business.

OMG, the earth is 4.5 billion years old (give or take a few extra multimillion years) and the natural world has the nerve to actually change. Shocking. Even smart, book educated people, have a stupid streak. Some are more gullible than others but it does not change the fact that we need fossil fuels everyday for a thousand different uses. Will someone please tell these people there is no prize awarded for being stupid. There may come a time when this fantasy utopia will exist and perhaps succeed but that time is not now. We need all of the above when it comes to energy. You can be a good steward and use energy responsibly without resorting to living like a caveman. Oh, wait, they used open fire. Guess that was a bad analogy. Tell the kids this means their phone, ipads, other tablets, computers and gizmos etc. have got to go. The rechargeable batteries do more damage to the earth than driving my car and using my gas stove. And the plastic they contain, wow.

no matter how hard they try, the French will never catch up with the rest of the world,
they always seem to be on the left foot when everybody else is on the right foot and
this is a perfect example of their disunity with the rest of Europe and the rest of the world and
in actuality the world doesn't need the French except for their bread

They also thought importing Muslim immigrants was a good idea, just as they thought surrendering to Hitler was a good idea! Not so smart those French!!!! (PS - my heritage is French on both sides too)

A "large minority?" Is there such a thing? How would that work?

Andrea usually makes good points, but this one falls rather flat. I would suspect that many in France have never flown. That goes for other countries as well. They have outstanding rail systems. Families often live close to each other. It wouldn't be hard for this minority to give up. It doesn't require regulation or legislation.

In our world where the whole is 100%, 41% is a large minority.

If some people in France -and John Kerry (a.k.a. Lurch)- here in the US are so concerned about 'Carbon' (the name of the compound, Carbon Dioxide, has too many syllables for them), then they should go complain to the Chinese Communists, who last year produced and burned Four Billion, Four Hundred Million (4,400,000,000) TONS of Coal.
China commissioned two NEW large coal-burning power plants EACH WEEK for the last two years, and they have THREE HUNDRED new large Coal-burning power plants 'in the pipeline'.
The Chinese will Laugh in their Face.
The USA and Europe can go broke trying to attain Kerry's ideal "Net Zero Carbon output", and the reduction will be MORE than cancelled out by the INCREASE in China's Carbon Dioxide production.
By the way, Carbon Dioxide makes up 4/100 of 1/100 of the atmosphere. If it goes below 2/100 of 1/100, all the plants- all thr grasses, all the trees, everything.... DIES.
The whole Global Cooling/Global Warming/Anthropogenic Climate Chage/Anthropogenic Climate Disruption is a HOAX. It is the Scam of the Century.
It is a tool used by the UN and totalitarians here in the USA to grab Total Control over the people here in the US, in Europe, and eventually (they hope) the world.
They ARE Totalitarians, after all.

These polls are so stupid. 1000 people in Paris does not equal France anymore than 1000 people in NYC equals the US.
We love France, outside Paris. The people are down to Earth, good values and very family oriented. We have travelled all over France and the rural people are as friendly, Christian, and Conservative as anyone in the rural US. Please remember that.

Ask them if they are OK with their baguettes and croissants baked in an electric oven. Most will opt for gas, even if the planet boils over.

Autoritarian. Draconian authoritarianism. Is this what you want? Is this what you'd vote for?
Have these French folks considered, have they thought through, that limitations on flights would cut into tourism in their country? Last time I checked tourism was a major source of income in France.

Instead of limiting commercial flights, how about stopping all private jets from flying. Make them fly commercial. That would cut down on jets in the air and all of those people that were flying in private jets could probably be taken care of by adding just a few more commercial jets.
