America’s Prophet of Scientism

Original Article

Bruce Thornton and others have usefully dubbed it “scientism”: “Dressing up ideological beliefs or even fads in the quantitative data and forbidding jargon of real sciences like physics or engineering.” It allows progressives who actually know and care nothing about science to boast that they “believe in science” or “follow the science” whereas their reactionary opponents, presumably, do not. For some years now, the premier prophet of scientism in America has been Neil DeGrasse Tyson, who since 1996 has been the director of the Hayden Planetarium in New York, and who, like his fellow astrophysicist Carl Sagan before him, has won fame as a promoter and popularizer of science.

I know nothing about the education of Neil DeGrasse Tyson but his conduct smacks strongly of Affirmative Action assistance and promotion. Anybody who would have the audacity to exclude Pluto from the Solar System as a planet is highly suspect. On top of that, people who maintain three names are usually attempting to attach an aura of importance to themselves where none exists.

I've seen him too often on various "science" shows, and my impression is that he's an affirmative action stuffed shirt. He might be reasonably bright and throw around all the right tech terms, but I wasn't impressed. A perfect black token for the white leftists in NY.

What these people have discovered is they can make alot of money pushing government policy as 'scientists'. They actually have a strong sense of entitlement because they believe what they do is 'important' like 'saving the planet' so they should be paid well for it.

The liberal media routinely beclowns itself with its biased fact checks. We’ve gotten used to this. But the New York Times really pulled off a doozy Wednesday night with a ridiculous fact check of something Vivek Ramaswamy said during the GOP primary debate. “I have to be very clear about this. Transgenderism, especially in kids, is a mental health disorder,“ Ramaswamy said. “We have to acknowledge the truth of that for what it is.” Ramaswamy continued, “The very people who say that this increases the risk of suicide are also the ones saying that parents don’t have the right to know about that increased risk of suicide. Seven years after he last took an NFL snap, Colin Kaepernick believes he can still help a team in need of a quarterback — even if it means playing on the practice squad. The former San Francisco 49ers signal-caller who exited the league in controversial fashion wrote a letter to the New York Jets last week requesting a chance to play quarterback for them, but with a twist. Rather than lobby for the Jets’ starting quarterback job with the team struggling in the wake of the season-ending injury to star Aaron Rodgers, Kaepernick asked for an opportunity to be the team’s practice squad quarterback. The Biden defense has been that whatever Hunter Biden was doing doesn’t involve his father. Sure, Hunter might have traded on his father’s name, his father might have phoned in and stopped by events with his clients and his son might have even sent demands for money to China in his name, but it has nothing to do with Joe. And it still doesn’t. Not even when the money is going to Joe Biden’s address. House Committee on Oversight and Accountability Chairman James Comer (R-Ky.) today announced the House Oversight Committee subpoenaed and obtained two bank wires revealing Hunter Biden received payments originating from Chinese nationals,

Did former President Donald Trump ask then-Assistant Attorney General Jeff Clark’s legal opinion concerning Department of Justice options for addressing voting irregularities in Georgia, or did Clark volunteer his legal analysis on the question without the president’s prompting? The federal judge presiding over Clark’s removal case, who will decide whether Clark must defend himself in the Democrat stronghold of Fulton County or in a Georgia federal court, focused on that question during last week’s hearing. In doing so, the judge revealed just how crazy—and dangerous—this political prosecution is to the future of our constitutional republic.

Early this month, after more than 10 years of operation, New York’s Citi Bike bicycle-share program marked a grim milestone: the first-ever death of a pedestrian hit by a Citi Bike rider. The cyclist wasn’t riding one of the traditional blue-pedal bikes when he allegedly hit and killed 69-year-old Priscilla Loke, but rather an electric Citi Bike. Loke’s death is yet another reminder that battery-powered electric bikes — and their new cousins, gas-powered mopeds — are not bicycles but fast-moving motorized vehicles. Those vehicles’ proliferation on New York’s dense streets, encouraged by supposed safe-streets advocates and city government, is reversing more than a decade’s progress in making New York’s streets more hospitable to

On Wednesday, Old Joe Biden finally invited Benjamin Netanyahu to the White House, after refusing to do so for nearly nine months while his regime did everything it could to undermine the Israeli prime minister. The invitation came as Netanyahu met with the alleged president at the UN, and the two sat down for their first chat of Biden’s alleged presidency. Any meeting with Biden these days, however, will have its bizarre and inexplicable elements, and this one was no different. Ron DeSantis is the only viable proven conservative candidate to replace him and yet Trump and many Republican voters are foolishly determined to permanently destroy DeSantis and render him unelectable.
