A Manhattan judge on Tuesday found Donald Trump committed fraud for years by exaggerating the value of his wealth – clearing the way for a civil trial where the former president could be ordered to pay $250 million and banned from doing business in the Empire State. Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Arthur Engoron found Trump, 77, his family and his business, the Trump Organization, liable for fraud – the key claim in New York Attorney General Letitia James’ sprawling lawsuit against the defendants. In a 35-page ruling, Engoron sided with James, who argued that Trump made several indisputably false statements in business documents to secure favorable terms

Isn't it ironic that this comes out the same day the House announces an impeachment hearing of Joe Biden? Actually, it's not ironic at all when one considers our government is loaded with corrupt tyrants covering for each other.

What a BS charge. Wonder if any lenders will be charged with defrauding their stockholders/depositors/investors by accepting Trumps estimate of his property worth because they obviously didn't do due diligence ?

Does this so-called “judge “ think that banks simply accept a client’s statement of net worth & client’s valuation of his property value, or do banks do their own due diligence and appraisals? This is pure BS. Nothing more, nothing less.

Putting a value on real estate, especially in NY City, is very subjective. The value of a building fluctuates wildly depending on economic conditions and the local marketplace. If the lender thought the values were overstated they could have easily said so.

NONE of the Banks, Investment funds, Investors, or insurance Companies that made decisions based upon these figures/forms, made ANY complaint, they all made money, all of the loans were paid. No one else has ever been prosecuted on this same basis...and the Prosecutor and Judge have telegraphed that their "Goal" is to drive not just The Donald, but ALL of the trumps OUT of Business, and keep them out of Business of any kind in the State of NY. Particularly galling is that this judge and prosecutor both are insisting that ALL of these "Private" documents from 2014-2020 MUST be charged over, even though they had ZERO Govt involvement, Taxes, or effects, and statute of limitations have already expired....while at the same time DOJ, Special Council, and these same prosecutors are not/ did not and have no interest in charging Hunter Biden for NOT paying Govt taxes, or even filing required documents during those same years, and including "business" done in the very same districts. Much of what they call "Inflated Valuations", is what Trump, and the Market, considered the "Premium" attacked to the Trump Name. Much as a NYC street corner Rolex may be purchased for under $50...the REAL DEAL costs at least ten times that much, maybe 100 times as much. The same applies to YSL/Chanel/Gucci "Names", particularly in NYC. Heck...just certain CHEFS equate to over $10 Million in additional valuation for ANY restaurant they put their name on there.

I'm not a lawyer, and only a lowly little retired civil servant, but, BUT, the judge that has decided Trump committed fraud and also sanctioned his lawyers for making frivolous arguments is the SAME JUDGE that will now hear the case. I'm hoping because of my senior citizen status, even though I read the article a few times, I got that wrong. Please someone tell me I am terribly wrong. That will make my day. But if not, what the heck. How is this justice? I get that it's justice as applied to Trump, but really?

One more comment. From the article: "In a 35-page ruling, Engoron sided with James, who argued that Trump made several indisputably false statements in business documents to secure favorable terms with banks – including by claiming that his soaring triplex penthouse at Trump Tower was 30,000 square feet when it was in fact closer to 11,000 feet." I don't know about you but my understanding of things is the more square footage, the more taxes. So Donald Trump's estimator overstated square footage so he could pay more taxes? I guess, going forward, Donald Trump can be incited for not using proper use of quotation marks, too?

Not true fraud. This judgment was under an investigatory statute that defines fraud as making false statements--no requirement of intent or deception. I think it will be overturned on appeal. The allegations of real fraud will be the subject of a trial.

This sounds like the banks that loaned Trump the money should be explaining why they failed due diligence before loaning him the money. Since the banks have not lost a dime on these loans, I fail to see who was defrauded. The most that can be blamed is telling a lie, but a victimless lie. Without a victim, where is the fraud?

In George Orwell’s dystopian novel “1984,” he portrays English society – renamed Oceania – as a futuristic version of the 1940s Soviet Union. In this invented society that Orwell calls IngSoc – English Socialism – the populace has even less freedom than the Soviets permitted its citizens and life consists only of drudgery, loneliness and hideousness. The novel grips the reader with fear and loathing of a totalitarian future enabled by technological advances and prompts one with the question: “Can it, will it happen here?” It goes without saying that the United States in 2023 bears little resemblance to 1984 Oceania.

The new law “seriously limits who can obtain a license to carry a concealed firearm” and details more than two dozen “sensitive” locations where guns cannot be carried. America has been in a veritable cultural revolution since the 1960s. Nearly all our major institutions finally became woke—the administrative state, traditional and social media, universities, K-12, the corporate boardroom, entertainment, professional sports, and the foundations. So the Obama and the Biden administrations finally seemed to have achieved their aims, in what the Obamas once boasted would be the “fundamental transformation” of America into something unrecognizable by its Founders. But what they gave us was nihilism—the destruction of norms, laws, and customs. There is no border, no criminal justice system, no real president any more.

First, the good news: 65% of the 1,223 registered voters queried in the national online I&I/TIPP Poll, which was taken from Aug. 30-Sept. 1, called themselves either “very confident” (42%) or “somewhat confident” (23%) that the 2024 election “will be conducted fairly and accurately.”

At the New York Post this week, the Blogfather, Glenn Reynolds, poses the question, “Has the air gone out of the climate crisis balloon?” He suggests that it’s at least deflating a bit, along with several other panic-inducing liberal themes of the moment. (I would argue that the “gun violence crisis” is still going full steam ahead on the left, but perhaps that’s the exception to the rule.) He points to a few examples where leftists seem to be losing their endless enthusiasm for screaming about climate change and making demands that everyone must sacrifice everything they hold dear to Save The Planet. Greta Thunberg doesn’t seem

A New York judge’s Tuesday ruling valuing Donald Trump’s sprawling, headline-making Florida estate at $18 million has left industry experts perplexed. In his verdict, Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Arthur Engoron delivered a bombshell ruling that the former president committed fraud by inflating the value of his wealth, with details including the monetary value associated with Mar-a-Lago in Palm Beach. This decision, which came down without a jury, has sent shockwaves through political — and real estate — circles, especially that $18 million base value for the property.

Elon Musk reignited his long-running feud with Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez by calling her “not that smart” after the progressive lawmaker claimed New York City’s migrant crisis paled in comparison to the number of people who came to the US through Ellis Island more than a century ago. “The numbers — when it comes to people coming to New York City today — are nothing, I’m telling you, nothing, compared to the daily amounts of people that we saw coming in through Ellis Island in the first half of [last] century,” Ocasio-Cortez said in the video posted to her Instagram account on Friday.

SEOUL, South Korea — The U.S. soldier who sprinted into North Korea across the heavily fortified border between the Koreas two months ago is in American custody, two U.S. officials said Wednesday. Earlier, North Korea said it would expel Pvt. Travis King — an announcement that surprised some observers who had expected the North to drag out his detention in the hopes of squeezing concessions from Washington at a time of high tensions between the rivals. Though King’s expulsion resolves a still-mysterious episode, it almost certainly does not end his troubles or ensure the sort of celebratory homecoming that has accompanied the releases of other detained Americans. His fate remains

Ukrainian troops are surrendering in droves, Russian TASS news agency claims, to the extent that Moscow has set up a special radio frequency so Ukrainian soldiers wishing to survive the Meat Grinder can do so safely. Approximately 10,000 Ukrainian soldiers have surrendered to the Russians using the special 149.200 “Volga” radio frequency, which has been operating since mid-summer, TASS reported. “Now more than 10,000 Ukrainian servicemen have already chosen life and used the 149.200 ‘Volga’ frequency to surrender. The captives are being fed; they are being provided with all necessary medical care,” a source told TASS, saying the radio frequency works along the entire front.

A Christian family of nine who fled persecution in Germany and moved to the United States in 2008 was stunned when immigration agents told it to prepare for deportation after 15 years of life in America, but remains hopeful that “God will make a way” for them to remain in the country they have come to love. In a phone interview with The Daily Wire on Wednesday, Uwe Romeike said he and his family, who settled in a small town in Tennessee, were caught off guard when they were told to come in for a meeting with an immigration agent after they just had their annual check-in
