On Friday, the jury delivered its verdict for the suspects involved in a June 2022 fight at LeBron James' Promise School in Akron, Ohio that resulted in the death of 17-year-old Ethan Liming. Deshawn Stafford, 20, was found guilty of felony aggravated assault, and misdemeanor assault, while his 19-year-old brother Tyler was only hit with misdemeanor assault. Both were acquitted on charges of involuntary manslaughter, which had already been downgraded from murder. (snip) Following the verdict, the Liming family's attorney Mr. Guttierez said his clients were "devastated," and "feel their son was murdered yet again."

Of course, Canada has nothing to do with this. Look at the cultural difference. One person is dumb with a 'splatball'. Stupid but harmless. The others are dumb with 'chest stomping.' NOTHING involuntary about THAT., Time to pull out that John Derbyshire 'white version of The Talk' and have it with your kids.

This is a disgraceful verdict. The parents of this young man must be devastated. I think the advice coming from my fellow LDotters is wise and should be heeded. Stay far away from these feral white hating violent criminals. There is something very toxic that has permeated their culture and they are the only individuals who can fix it and it appears they have zero interest in addressing the issue. Best keep to yourself. My sincere and heartfelt sympathy goes out to the friends and family of the victim.

I don't understand this. Did a young man not die? But this is not murder? OK then if the same thing happened to the 2 perps, then that would not be murder either? When society is no longer able to administer justice, victims feel compelled to administer it themselves. This is a society that has broken down.

The DA has to prove his case beyond a "reasonable doubt ", whatever that is according to each juror. Very difficult when it's not TV.

to #8: the issue of "beyond a reasonable doubt" was addressed when the boy died...his corpse is unequivocal proof that deadly force was used. Especially given the evidence of a broken neck and chest stomping. And If someone throws his victim onto a curb with enough force to break their neck...the curb did not kill the victim, but the person who threw them down. The system can decide which actual charge is appropriate...murder in first degree, involuntary manslaughter, etc...but someone is dead, and his death was not a misdemeanor offense.

...Liming's crew's car... I don't know why the author worded it that way, Maybe he was just trying to be hip, maybe Liming wasn't as pure as the driven snow and this was a gang thing. Regardless, someone died at the hands of another and the best the jury can come up with is assault?

Yes, it was racial. LeBron himself is a notorious racist and that sort of attitude and culture carries a long way. Multiple attackers on one victim is a trademark of black thugs and the vicious beating is not a fight, it is a serious attack. The two Wormheads should be charged with murder because it was murder. #3 has wise words. Never enter their turf because violence is not just a danger it is guaranteed. Black Lives ceased to matter when Obama declared them to be something other than ordinary citizens.

Democratic Sen. Bob Menendez of New Jersey — who was indicted last week for alleged bribery, fraud and extortion — signed onto a letter Monday warning of “corruption” in the political system. Shelton Whitehouse of Rhode Island authored the letter to Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen and Internal Revenue Service Commissioner Daniel Werfel seeking clarification on nonprofits engaging in “political or election-related activity.” This is wild. Despite obvious corruption and countless colleagues calling on him to resign, @SenWhitehouse still had Bob Menendez sign a letter Monday warning about the "corrupting force" of dark money "undermining faith in our democratic institutions."

The information provided suggests that Dr. Fauci was escorted into Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) Headquarters—without a record of entry—and participated in the analysis to 'influence' the Agency’s review."

One of the businesspeople allegedly stepped in in April 2019 to help her buy a Mercedes-Benz C-300 convertible, at one point texting an associate to request $15,000 in cash.
