Horrifying drone footage shows Tampa submerged by floodwater after Hurricane Idalia wreaked havoc on Florida and continued to barrel through Georgia.
The monster storm was downgraded to a Category 1 hurricane as it moved inland with 75mph winds, with it aimed directly at the historic city of Savannah.
At least two people have died during the hurricane so far, with Pasco County officials confirming one, 40, crashed his Ford Ranger while a second, 59, swerved into a ditch in Gainesville.

OMG, we would often get more water than this from a summer thunderstorm in Louisiana. Daily Mail does like the scary adjectives.

Cat 5 is a monster, cat 3 is big. People were given ample warning to evacuate but some for whatever reason chose not to.

Tampa was not under water. As usual, the media focuses on one house destroyed or one road with water covering it, and suddenly it's the world is coming to an end. Notice the house next door, looks fine because its pylons are much higher. And in many photos of flooded roads, the painted lines on the roads are visible which means the water isn't all that deep. Roads flood in Florida after a large thunderstorm.

Just talked to my son in Tarpon Springs, which is 30 min north of Tampa. It was a rainstorm, and they just waited it out. Take a chill pill, DM.

For those unaware, the "Daily Mail" is a British rag sheet about 60 steps below "The National Enquirer" for journalistic integrity.
Reply #3 is exactly right. I grew up in Galveston, TX. Since they get fairly regular hurricanes, they build to withstand them, or they build to be easily destroyed and rebuilt (like buildings on piers over the water). Every time there is a hurricane, there is one block on the beach side where there are buildings built over the water past the seawall. Because they tend to come down easily, the couple of blocks on the seawall by those piers tend to get a lot of wood and roofing piled up there by the high tides and hurricane winds splashing over the seawall. And that is always the picture you see after every hurricane to show the "terrible damage" done. That is because the media peons drive around and can't find any damage nearly that graphic. And the one thing you seldom ever hear is locals in Galveston complaining about hurricane damage. It's just the price you pay every few years to live on a barrier island in the Gulf of Mexico. They just do their repairs and help their neighbors out, and life quickly goes back to normal.
Since Florida gets a lot more hurricanes than Texas, I would guess the same would be true for Floridians.

"Lays waste"? What hogwash.
We are in contact with a family member in north central Florida. Zero damage. Rained all day, was sunny and clear by 6 pm. An hour farther south in Florida, closer to the west coast, no damage, sunny by 4 pm.
Another family member on the coast of Georgia, south of Savannah.....no damage, 53 mph max winds, some rain, no flooding.
Another family member in central South Carolina....no damage.
Steinhatchee and Cedar Key, tiny coastal island towns had flooding, as expected when a town is only 8-10 feet above high tide.
The "storm deaths" are car crashes? How do those get morphed into "storm deaths"? I call BS.
Not storm deaths, you Brit fraudsters.

Here's some sane coverage.
As I thought would happen, Steinhatchee is flooded, as was Cedar Key. Still, looks like the flooding was the worst of it there. Winds hit about 100 mph or so, and Perry, about 25 miles inland from the coast, got a good swipe, power lines down, some roofs damaged, and trees downed. As usual, mobile homes didn't stand up real well to the high winds.

Oh, how awful. My heart goes out to these people. I pray for them knowing our Loving God will work through His angels on earth as they reach out to those in distress.
We see it every time a community is in need; Americans rally to help their neighbors next door, on the next street, across town, in the next town, in the next state or across the country. They never ask for party affiliation, or a person's stance on climate change, diversity or transgenderism before aid and relief is provided. I doubt someone has refused a ride in a National Guard helicopter basket because the Guardsman assisting didn't use the right pronouns. When life and death are on the line, real America steps forward to get the job done as the usurpers can only stand aside helplessly and watch. These are the realities of life, and they will win out in the end. We do have a fight ahead of us, but our enemies live in as much of a fantasy world as their "Barbie" movie. Reality wins every time. It is usually brutal, but it wins.
God bless the victims of this storm and all those who come to help.

Ohio has 4 beautiful seasons. Very little bad weather. Home insurance everyone can afford. Lots of jobs. Affordable homes. Come up North.
